Now a certain man was in Caesarea, Cornelius by name, a centurion of the band called Italian,
2 ২ তিনি ঈশ্বরভক্ত এবং পরিবারের সকলের সঙ্গে ঈশ্বরকে ভয় করতেন, অনেক লোককে প্রচুর পরিমাণে দান করতেন এবং সব দিন ই ঈশ্বরের কাছে প্রার্থনা করতেন।
a devout man, and fearing God with all his house, and doing many charities for the people, and beseeching God always.
3 ৩ এক দিন প্রায় দুপুর তিনটের দিন কর্নীলিয় একটি দর্শন দেখতে পেয়েছিলেন যে ঈশ্বরের এক দূত তার কাছে ভিতরে এসে বললেন কর্নীলিয়,
He saw plainly in a vision about the ninth hour of the day, an agent of God coming in to him, and saying to him, Cornelius.
4 ৪ তখন কর্নীলিয় তাঁর প্রতি একভাবে তাকিয়ে ভয়ের সঙ্গে বললেন প্রভু কি চান? দূত তাঁকে বললেন তোমার প্রার্থনা ও তোমার দান সকল স্মারক নৈবেদ্য হিসাবে স্বর্গে ঈশ্বরের সামনে উপস্থিত হয়েছে,
And after gazing at him, and having become afraid, he said, What is it, Lord? And he said to him, Thy prayers and thy charities have come up for a memorial before God.
And now send men to Joppa and summon Simon, who is surnamed Peter.
This man lodges with a certain Simon, a tanner, whose house is beside the seaside.
7 ৭ কর্নীলিয়র সঙ্গে যে দূত কথা বলেছিলেন তিনি চলে যাবার পর কর্নীলিয় বাড়ির চাকরদের মধ্যে দুজনকে এবং যারা সব দিন ই তাঁর সেবা করত, তাদের একজন ভক্ত সেনাকে ডাকলেন,
And when the agent speaking to Cornelius departed, having called two of his housemen, and a devout soldier of those who personally served him,
and after reporting all things to them, he sent them to Joppa.
9 ৯ পরের দিন তারা পথ ধরে যেতে যেতে যখন নগরের কাছে হাজির হলেন, তখন পিতর ছাদের উপরে প্রার্থনা করার জন্য উঠলেন অনুমান দুপুর বারোটার দিন।
Now on the morrow, while those men were traveling and approaching the city, Peter went up upon the housetop to pray, about the sixth hour.
10 ১০ তিনি ক্ষুধার্ত হলেন এবং কিছু খেতে চাইলেন। কিন্তু যখন লোকেরা খাবার তৈরি করছিল, এমন দিনের তিনি অভিভূত হয়ে পড়লেন,
And he became very hungry and wanted to eat. But while those men prepared, a trance fell upon him.
11 ১১ আর দেখলেন, আকাশ খুলে গেছে এবং একটি বড় চাদর নেমে আসছে তার চারটি কোন ধরে পৃথিবীতে নামিয়ে দেওয়া হচ্ছে;
And he sees heaven opened, and a certain container descending to him, like a great sheet bound at four corners, and being lowered to the earth,
in which were all the four-footed things of the earth, and the wild beasts, and the creeping things, and the birds of the sky.
And a voice came to him, After rising, Peter, kill and eat.
But Peter said, Not so, Lord, because I have never eaten anything profane or unclean.
And a voice again for a second time, What God has cleansed, thou shall not make profane.
And this happened thrice, and again the vessel was taken up into heaven.
17 ১৭ পিতর যে দর্শন পেয়েছিলেন, তার অর্থ কি হতে পারে, এই বিষয়ে মনে মনে ভাবছিলেন ঠিক সেই দিনের দেখো, কর্নীলিয়ের প্রেরিত লোকেরা শিমোনের বাড়ির খোঁজ করে দরজার কাছে এসে দাঁড়ালো,
Now while Peter was bewildered in himself whatever the vision which he saw might be, that lo, the men who were sent from Cornelius, having inquired the house of Simon, stood at the gate.
And after calling out they asked whether Simon, who was surnamed Peter, lodges here.
And while Peter thought about the vision, the Spirit said to him, Behold, men seek thee.
But after rising, go down, and go with them, doubting nothing, because I have sent them.
21 ২১ তখন পিতর সেই লোকেদের কাছে নেমে গিয়ে বললেন, দেখো তোমরা যার খোঁজ করছো, আমি সেই ব্যক্তি, তোমরা কি জন্য এসেছ?
And having gone down to the men, Peter said, Behold, I am he whom ye seek. What is the cause for which ye are here?
22 ২২ তারা বলল, একজন শতপতি কর্নীলিয় নামে পরিচিত, একজন ধার্মিক লোক, যিনি ঈশ্বরকে ভয় করেন এবং সমস্ত যিহূদী জাতির মধ্যে বিখ্যাত, তিনি পবিত্র দূতের দ্বারা এমন আদেশ পেয়েছেন, যেন আপনাকে ডেকে নিজ বাড়িতে এনে আপনার মুখের কথা শোনেন।
And they said, Cornelius, a centurion, a righteous man, and fearing God, and being well testified by the whole nation of the Jews, was divinely warned by a holy agent to summon thee to his house, and to hear sayings from thee.
23 ২৩ তখন পিতর তাদের ভিতরে ডেকে এনে তাদের সেবা করলেন। পরদিন উঠে তিনি তাদের সঙ্গে গেলেন, আর যাফোত নিবাসী ভাইদের মধ্যে কিছু জন তাদের সঙ্গে গেল।
So, having invited them in, he lodged them. And on the morrow Peter went forth with them, and certain of the brothers from Joppa went with him.
24 ২৪ পরের দিন তারা কৈসরিয়াতে প্রবেশ করলেন; তখন কর্নীলিয় নিজের লোকদের ও বন্ধুদের এক জায়গায় ডেকে তাদের অপেক্ষা করছিলেন।
And on the morrow they entered into Caesarea. And Cornelius was waiting for them, having called together his kinsmen and close friends.
And when it came about for Peter to enter, Cornelius, having met him, after falling down at his feet, worshiped.
But Peter lifted him up, saying, Stand up. I am also myself a man.
And as he conversed with him, he went in and found many who came together.
28 ২৮ তখন তিনি তাদের বললেন, আপনারা জানেন, অন্য জাতির সঙ্গে যোগ দেওয়া অথবা তার কাছে আসা যিহূদী লোকের পক্ষে নিয়মের বাইরে; কিন্তু আমাকে ঈশ্বর দেখিয়েছেন যে, কোনোও মানুষকে অধার্ম্মিক অথবা অশুচি বলা উচিত নয়।
And he said to them, Ye understand how it is unlawful for a Jewish man to fraternize or to visit with a foreign man, and yet God demonstrated to me not to call one man profane or unclean.
29 ২৯ এই জন্য আমাকে ডেকে পাঠানো হলে আমি কোনোও আপত্তি না করেই এসেছি; এখন জিজ্ঞাসা করি, আপনারা কি কারণে আমাকে ডেকে পাঠিয়েছেন?
And so I came without objection when summoned. I ask therefore for what matter ye summoned me.
30 ৩০ তখন কর্নীলিয় বললেন, আজ চার দিন হলো, আমি এই দিন পর্যন্ত নিজের ঘরের মধ্যে বেলা অনুমান তিনটের দিন প্রার্থনা করছিলাম, সেই দিন একজন পুরুষ তেজোময় পোশাক পরে আমার সামনে দাঁড়ালেন;
And Cornelius said, Four days ago I was fasting until this hour, and the ninth hour praying in my house. And behold, a man stood before me in bright apparel.
31 ৩১ তিনি বললেন, কর্নীলিয়, তোমার প্রার্থনা গ্রহণ করা হয়েছে এবং তোমার দান সকল ঈশ্বরের সামনে স্মরণ করা হয়েছে।
And he says, Cornelius, thy prayer was heard, and thy charities are remembered before God.
32 ৩২ অতএব যাফোতে লোক পাঠিয়ে শিমোন যাকে পিতর বলে, তাঁকে ডেকে আনো; সে সমুদ্রের ধারে শিমোন মুচির বাড়িতে আছেন।
Send therefore to Joppa, and summon Simon, who is surnamed Peter. This man lodges in the house of Simon, a tanner, beside the sea, who, after coming, will speak to thee.
33 ৩৩ এই জন্যে আমি সঙ্গে সঙ্গে আপনার কাছে লোক পাঠিয়ে দিলাম; আপনি এসেছেন ভালোই করেছেন, অতএব এখন আমরা সকলে ঈশ্বরের সাক্ষাৎে উপস্থিত আছি; প্রভু আপনাকে যেসকল আদেশ করেছেন, তা শুনবো।
Immediately therefore I sent to thee, and thou did well having come. Now therefore we are all present in the sight of God, to hear all the things commanded thee by God.
34 ৩৪ তাঁর পর পিতর তার মুখ খুলে তাদের বলতে লাগলেন সত্যি আমি বুঝতে পারলাম যে ঈশ্বর কারোও মুখচেয়ে বিচার করেন না।
And having opened his mouth, Peter said, In truth, I am overwhelmed that God is not partial,
but in every nation, he who fears him, and works righteousness, is acceptable to him.
36 ৩৬ তোমরা জন যে তিনি ইস্রায়েলের লোকেদের কাছে একটি বাক্য ঘোষণা করেছেন; যখন তিনি যীশু খ্রীষ্টের মাধ্যমে শান্তির সুসমাচার প্রচার করেছেন; যিনি সকলের প্রভু।
The word that he sent forth to the sons of Israel, preaching good news, peace by Jesus Christ (this man is Lord of all),
37 ৩৭ আপনারা সকলে এই ঘটনা জানেন, যা যোহনের দ্বারা প্রচারিত বাপ্তিষ্মের পর গালীল থেকে শুরু হয়ে সমগ্র যিহূদীয়া প্রদেশে ছড়িয়ে পড়ল;
ye know, the word having occurred throughout the whole of Judea beginning from Galilee after the immersion that John preached-
38 ৩৮ ফলতঃ নাসরতীয় যীশুর কথা, কীভাবে ঈশ্বর তাঁকে পবিত্র আত্মাতে ও শক্তিতে অভিষিক্ত করেছিলেন; ভালো কাজ করে বেড়াতেন এবং শয়তান দ্বারা পীড়িত সমস্ত লোককে সুস্থ করতেন; কারণ ঈশ্বর তাঁর সঙ্গে ছিলেন।
Jesus of Nazareth-how God anointed him with the Holy Spirit and with power, who passed through doing good, and healing all those who were oppressed by the devil, because God was with him.
39 ৩৯ আর তিনি ইহুদীদের জনপদে ও যিরুশালেমে যা যা করেছেন, সেই সকলের সাক্ষী; আবার লোকে তাঁকে ক্রুশে টাঙিয়ে হত্যা করল।
And we are witnesses of all that he did both in the country of the Jews, and in Jerusalem, whom also they killed, having hung on a tree.
This man God raised up the third day, and granted him to become manifest,
41 ৪১ কিন্তু পূর্বে ঈশ্বরের দ্বারা মনোনীত সাক্ষীদের, অর্থাৎ আমাদের দেখা দিলেন, আর মৃতদের মধ্য থেকে তাঁর পুনরুত্থান হলে পর তাঁর সঙ্গে আমরা ভোজন ও পান করলাম।
not to all the people, but to witnesses who were previously chosen by God, to us, who ate and drank with him after he arose from the dead.
42 ৪২ আর তিনি নির্দেশ করলেন, যেন আমরা লোকদের কাছে প্রচার করি ও সাক্ষ্য দিই যে, ইনিই সেই ব্যক্তি যাকে ঈশ্বর জীবিত ও মৃতদের বিচারকর্ত্তা নিযুক্ত করেছেন।
And he commanded us to preach to the people, and to solemnly testify that this is the man designated by God, judge of the living and the dead.
43 ৪৩ তাঁর পক্ষে সকল ভবিষ্যৎ বক্তারা এই সাক্ষ্য দেন, যে কেউ তাঁকে বিশ্বাস করে, সে তাঁর নামের গুণে পাপের ক্ষমা পাবে।
To this man all the prophets testify, that every man who believes in him, to receive remission of sins through his name.
While Peter still spoke these sayings, the Holy Spirit fell on all those who heard the word.
45 ৪৫ তখন পিতরের সঙ্গে আসা বিশ্বাসী ছিন্নত্বক লোক সব আর্শ্চয্য হলেন, কারণ অযিহুদিদের উপরেও পবিত্র আত্মারূপ দান দেওয়া হলো;
And the faithful men of circumcision were astonished, as many as came with Peter, because also on the Gentiles the gift of the Holy Spirit was poured out.
46 ৪৬ কারণ তারা তাদের নানা ভাষায় কথা বলতে ও ঈশ্বরের মহিমা কীর্তন করতে শুনলেন। তখন পিতর উত্তর করে বললেন,
For they heard them speaking in tongues and magnifying God. Then Peter answered,
Can any man forbid the water for these not to be immersed, who have received the Holy Spirit as we also?
48 ৪৮ পরে তিনি তাদের যীশু খ্রীষ্টের নামে বাপ্তিষ্ম দেবার আদেশ দিলেন। তখন তারা কিছুদিন তাকে থাকতে অনুরোধ করলেন।
And he commanded them to be immersed in the name of the Lord. Then they asked him to remain some days.
