বংশাবলির দ্বিতীয় খণ্ড 14

1 ১ পরে অবিয়র মৃত্যু হলো এবং তাকে তাঁর পূর্বপুরুষদের স্থানে দায়ূদ নগরে তাকে কবর দেওয়া হলো। আর তাঁর ছেলে আসা তাঁর জায়গায় রাজা হলেন; তাঁর দিনের দশ বছর দেশে শান্তি ছিল।

And Abia died with his fathers, and they buried him in the city of David; and Asa his son reigned in his stead. In the days of Asa the land of Juda had rest ten years.

2 ২ আসা তাঁর ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর চোখে যা ভাল ও সঠিক, তাই করতেন;

And he did that which was good and right in the sight of the Lord his God.

3 ৩ তিনি অইহুদীদের যজ্ঞবেদি ও উঁচু জায়গা গুলি ধ্বংস করলেন, থামগুলি ভেঙে চুরমার করলেন ও আশেরা-মূর্তিগুলি কেটে ফেললেন;

And he removed the altars of the strange [gods], and the high places, and broke the pillars in pieces, and cut down the groves:

4 ৪ আর তিনি যিহূদার লোকেদেরকে তাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর ইচ্ছামত চলতে এবং তাঁর ব্যবস্থা ও আদেশ পালন করতে আদেশ দিলেন।

and he told Juda to seek earnestly the Lord God of their fathers, and to perform the law and commandments.

5 ৫ আর তিনি যিহূদার সব নগরের মধ্যে থেকে উঁচু জায়গা গুলি ও সূর্য্য প্রতিমাগুলি ধ্বংস করলেন; আর তাঁর অধীনে রাজ্যে শান্তি ছিল।

And he removed from all the cities of Juda the altars and the idols, and established in quietness

6 ৬ আর তিনি যিহূদা দেশে প্রাচীরে ঘেরা কয়েকটি নগর গাঁথলেন, কারণ দেশে শান্তি ছিল এবং কয়েক বছর পর্যন্ত কেউ তাঁর সঙ্গে যুদ্ধ করল না, কারণ ঈশ্বর তাঁকে বিশ্রাম দিয়েছিলেন।

fortified cities in the land of Juda; for the land was quiet, and he had no war in these years; for the Lord gave him rest.

7 ৭ অতএব তিনি যিহূদাকে বললেন, “এস, আমরা এই নগরগুলি গাঁথি এবং তার চারপাশে প্রাচীর, দুর্গ, দরজা ও অর্গল তৈরী করি; দেশ তো এখনও আমাদের হাতে আছে, কারণ আমরা আমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর ইচ্ছামত চলেছি, আমরা তাঁর ইচ্ছামত চলেছি, আর তিনি সব দিক থেকেই আমাদের বিশ্রাম দিয়েছেন।” এই ভাবে তারা নগরগুলি গাঁথার কাজ ভালো ভাবে শেষ করল।

And he said to Juda, Let us fortify these cities, and make walls, and towers, and gates, and bars: we shall prevail over the land, for as we have sought out the Lord our God, he has sought out us, and has given us rest round about, and prospered us.

8 ৮ আসার ঢাল ও বর্শাধারী অনেক সৈন্য ছিল, যিহূদার তিন লক্ষ ও বিন্যামীনের ঢাল ও ধনুকধারী দুই লক্ষ আশি হাজার; এরা সবাই বলবান বীর ছিল।

And Asa had a force of armed men bearing shields and spears in the land of Juda, [even] three hundred thousand, and in the land of Benjamin two hundred and eighty thousand targeteers and archers: all these were mighty warriors.

9 ৯ পরে কূশ দেশের সেরহ দশ লক্ষ সৈন্য ও তিনশো রথ সঙ্গে নিয়ে তাদের বিরুদ্ধে বের হয়ে মারেশা পর্যন্ত এলেন।

And Zare the Ethiopian went out against them, with a force of a million, and three hundred chariots; and came to Maresa.

10 ১০ তাতে আসা তাঁর বিরুদ্ধে বের হলেন। তারা মারেশার কাছে সফাথা উপত্যকায় সৈন্য সাজালেন।

And Asa went out to meet him, and set the battle in array in the valley north of Maresa.

11 ১১ তখন আসা তাঁর ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুকে ডেকে বললেন, “হে সদাপ্রভু, তুমি ছাড়া এমন আর কেউ নেই, যে বলবানের ও বলহীনের মধ্যে সাহায্য করে; হে আমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু, আমাদের সাহায্য কর; কারণ আমরা তোমার উপরেই নির্ভর করি এবং তোমারই নামে এই বিশাল সৈন্যদলের বিরুদ্ধে এসেছি। হে সদাপ্রভু, তুমি আমাদের ঈশ্বর, তোমার বিরুদ্ধে মানুষকে জয়লাভ করতে দিয়ো না।”

And Asa cried to the Lord his God, and said, O Lord, it is not impossible with you to save by many or by few: strengthen us, O Lord our God; for we trust in you, and in your name have we come against this great multitude. O Lord our God, let not man prevail against you.

12 ১২ তখন সদাপ্রভু আসার ও যিহূদার সামনে কূশীয়দেরকে আঘাত করলেন, আর কূশীয়েরা পালিয়ে গেল।

And the Lord struck the Ethiopians before Juda; and the Ethiopians fled.

13 ১৩ আর আসা ও তাঁর সঙ্গীরা গরার পর্যন্ত তাদের তাড়া করে নিয়ে গেলেন, তাতে এত কূশীয় মারা পড়ল যে, তারা আর শক্তিশালী হয়ে উঠতে পারল না; কারণ সদাপ্রভুর ও তাঁর সৈন্যদলের সামনে তারা শেষ হয়ে গেল এবং লোকেরা প্রচুর লুটের জিনিস নিয়ে আসল।

And Asa and his people pursued them to Gedor; and the Ethiopians fell, so that they could not recover themselves; for they were crushed before the Lord, and before his host; and they took many spoils.

14 ১৪ আর তারা গরারের চারপাশের সমস্ত নগরকে আঘাত করল, কারণ সদাপ্রভুকে তারা ভীষণ ভয় করেছিল; আরও তারা এই সব নগর লুট করল, কারণ সেখানে লুট করবার মত অনেক জিনিস ছিল।

And they destroyed their towns roundabout Gedor; for a terror of the Lord was upon them: and they spoiled all their cities, for they had much spoil.

15 ১৫ আর তারা পশুপালকদের তাঁবুগুলিও আঘাত করল এবং প্রচুর পরিমাণে ভেড়া, ছাগল ও উট নিয়ে যিরূশালেমে ফিরে এল।

Also they destroyed the tents of cattle, and the Alimazons, and took many sheep and camels, and returned to Jerusalem.
