In the eighteenth year of the reign of Jeroboam Abia began to reign over Juda.
2 ২ তিনি তিন বছর যিরূশালেমে রাজত্ব করলেন; তাঁর মায়ের নাম ছিল মীখায়া, তিনি গিবিয়ার অধিবাসী ঊরীয়েলের মেয়ে। অবিয় আর যারবিয়ামের মধ্যে যুদ্ধ হত।
He reigned three years in Jerusalem. And his mother's name [was] Maacha, daughter of Uriel of Gabaon. And there was war between Abia and Jeroboam.
3 ৩ অবিয় চার লক্ষ মনোনীত বীর যোদ্ধার সঙ্গে যুদ্ধ করতে গেলেন এবং যারবিয়াম আট লক্ষ মনোনীত বলবান বীরের সঙ্গে তাঁর বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধের জন্য সৈন্য সাজালেন।
And Abia set the battle in array with an army, with mighty men of war, [even] four hundred thousand mighty men: and Jeroboam set the battle in array against him with eight hundred thousand, [they were] mighty warriors of the host.
4 ৪ আর অবিয় পর্বতময় ইফ্রয়িম এলাকার সমারয়িম পর্বতের উপরে দাঁড়িয়ে বললেন, “হে যারবিয়াম, তুমি ও সমস্ত ইস্রায়েলের লোকেরা, আমার কথা শোন।
And Abia rose up from the mount Somoron, which is in mount Ephraim, and said, Hear you, Jeroboam, and all Israel:
5 ৫ ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু ইস্রায়েলের রাজপদ চিরকালের জন্য দায়ূদকে দিয়েছেন; তাঁকে ও তাঁর সন্তানদের লবণ নিয়মের মাধ্যমে দিয়েছেন, এটা জানার কি তোমাদের প্রয়োজন নেই?
[Is it] not for you to know that the Lord God of Israel has given a king over Israel for ever to David, and to his sons, by a covenant of salt?
6 ৬ তবুও দায়ূদের ছেলে শলোমনের দাস যে নবাটের ছেলে যারবিয়াম, সেই লোক তাঁর মনিবের বিরুদ্ধে বিদ্রোহ করল।
But Jeroboam the [son] of Nabat, the servant of Solomon [the son] of David, is risen up, and has revolted from his master:
7 ৭ আর নিষ্ঠুর বিবেকবিহীন লোকেরা তার সঙ্গে জড়ো হয়ে শলোমনের ছেলে রহবিয়ামের বিরুদ্ধে নিজেদের শক্তিশালী করল। সেই দিন রহবিয়াম যুবক ও নরম হৃদয়ের ছিলেন, তাদের সামনে নিজেকে বলবান করতে পারলেন না।
and there are gathered to him pestilent men, transgressors, and he has risen up against Roboam the [son] of Solomon, while Roboam was young and fearful in heart, and he withstood him not.
8 ৮ আর এখন তোমরাও দায়ূদের সন্তানদের হাতে সদাপ্রভুর যে রাজ্য, তার বিরুদ্ধে নিজেদেরকে বলবান করতে চাইছেন; তোমরা বিশাল জনতা এবং সেই দুটি সোনার বাছুর তোমাদের সঙ্গে আছে, যা যারবিয়াম তোমাদের জন্য দেবতা হিসাবে তৈরী করেছেন।
And now you profess to resist the kingdom of the Lord in the hand of the sons of David; and you [are] a great multitude, and with you are golden calves, which Jeroboam made you for gods.
9 ৯ তোমরা কি সদাপ্রভুর যাজকদের, হারোণের সন্তানদের ও লেবীয়দেরকে তাড়িয়ে দাও নি? আর অন্য দেশের জাতিদের মত নিজেদের জন্য যাজকদের নিযুক্ত করনি? একটি বাছুর ও সাতটা ভেড়া সঙ্গে নিয়ে যে কেউ নিজেকে পবিত্র করবার জন্য উপস্থিত হয়, সে ওদের যাজক হতে পারে, যারা ঈশ্বর নয়।
Did you not cast out the priests of the Lord, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, and make to yourselves priests of the people of any [other] land? whoever came to consecrate himself with a calf of the heard and seven rams, he forthwith became a priest to that which is no god.
10 ১০ কিন্তু আমরা সেই রকম নই, সদাপ্রভুই আমাদের ঈশ্বর; আমরা তাঁকে ত্যাগ করি নি এবং যাজকরা, হারোণের বংশধরেরা সদাপ্রভুর সেবা করছে এবং আর লেবীয়েরাও তাদের কাজে নিযুক্ত আছে।
But we have not forsaken the Lord our God, and his priests, the sons of Aaron, and the Levites, minister to the Lord; and in their daily courses
11 ১১ আর তারা সদাপ্রভুর উদ্দেশ্যে প্রতিদিন সকালে ও সন্ধ্যায় হোমবলি পোড়ায় ও সুগন্ধি ধূপ জ্বালায়, আর শুচি টেবিলের উপরে দর্শন রুটি সাজিয়ে রাখে এবং প্রতিদিন সন্ধ্যাবেলায় জ্বালাবার জন্য বাতিগুলির সঙ্গে সোনার বাতিদান তৈরী করে; বাস্তবিক আমরা আমাদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর আদেশ রক্ষা করি; কিন্তু তোমরা তাঁকে ত্যাগ করেছ।
they sacrifice to the Lord whole burnt offering, morning and evening, and compound incense, and [set] the show bread on the pure table; and [there is] the golden candlestick, and the lamps for burning, to light in the evening: for we keep the charge of the Lord God of our fathers; but you have forsaken him.
12 ১২ আর দেখ, ঈশ্বর আমাদের সঙ্গে আছেন, তিনি আমাদের সামনে যাচ্ছেন এবং তাঁর যাজকেরা তোমাদের বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধের ডাক দেবার জন্য তূরী নিয়ে আমাদের সঙ্গে আছেন। হে ইস্রায়েলের সন্তানরা, তোমরা তোমাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর বিরুদ্ধে যুদ্ধ কোরো না, করলে সফল হবে না।”
And, behold, the Lord and his priests are with us at our head, and the signal trumpets to sound an alarm over us. Children of Israel, fight not against the Lord God of our fathers; for you shall not prosper.
13 ১৩ পরে যারবিয়াম পিছনের দিকে তাদের আক্রমণের জন্য গোপনে একদল সৈন্য পাঠিয়ে দিলেন; তাতে তাঁর লোকেরা যিহূদার সামনে ও সেই লুকানো দল পিছনে ছিল।
Now Jeroboam had caused an ambush to come round upon him from behind: and he [himself] was before Juda, and the ambush behind.
14 ১৪ পরে যিহূদার লোকেরা মুখ ফিরিয়ে দেখতে পেল যে, তাদের সামনে ও পিছনে দুদিকে সৈন্য; তখন তারা সদাপ্রভুর কাছে কান্নাকাটি করল এবং যাজকরা তূরী বাজাল।
And Juda looked back, and, behold, the battle [was] against them before and behind: and they cried to the Lord, and the priests sounded with the trumpets.
15 ১৫ পরে যিহূদার লোকেরা যুদ্ধের ডাক দিল; তাতে যিহূদার লোকেদের যুদ্ধের ডাক দেবার দিনের ঈশ্বর অবিয়ের ও যিহূদার সামনে থেকে যারবিয়াম ও সমস্ত ইস্রায়েলকে আঘাত করলেন।
And the men of Juda shouted: and it came to pass, when the men of Juda shouted, that the Lord struck Jeroboam and Israel before Abia and Juda.
And the children of Israel fled from before Juda; and the Lord delivered them into their hands.
And Abia and his people struck them with a great slaughter: and there fell slain of Israel five hundred thousand mighty men.
18 ১৮ এই ভাবে সেই দিনের ইস্রায়েল সন্তানরা নত হল ও যিহূদা সন্তানরা বলবান হল, কারণ তারা তাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর উপর নির্ভর করল।
So the children of Israel were brought low in that day, and the children of Juda prevailed, because they trusted on the Lord God of their fathers.
19 ১৯ পরে অবিয় যারবিয়ামের পিছনে তাড়া করতে গিয়ে তাঁর হাত থেকে বৈথেল ও তার উপনগরগুলি, যিশানা ও তার উপনগরগুলি এবং ইফ্রোণ ও তার উপনগরগুলি দখল করে নিলেন।
And Abia pursued after Jeroboam, and he took from him the cities, Baethel and her towns, and Jesyna and her towns, and Ephron and her towns.
And Jeroboam did not recover strength again all the days of Abia: and the Lord struck him, and he died.
21 ২১ কিন্তু অবিয় বলবান হয়ে উঠলেন, আর তাঁর চৌদ্দজন স্ত্রী ছিল এবং তিনি বাইশজন ছেলে ও ষোলজন মেয়ে জন্ম দিলেন।
But Abia strengthened himself, and took to himself fourteen wives, and he begot twenty-two sons, and sixteen daughters.
22 ২২ অবিয়ের অবশিষ্ট কাজের কথা, তার আচার ব্যবহার এবং তাঁর কথা বলেছিলেন ইদ্দো ভাববাদীর ব্যাখামূলক বইয়ে লেখা আছে।
And the rest of the acts of Abia, and his deeds, and his sayings, are written in the book of the prophet Addo.
