বংশাবলির দ্বিতীয় খণ্ড 12
1 ১ পরে যখন রহবিয়ামের রাজ্য শক্তিশালী হল এবং তিনি শক্তিমান হয়ে উঠলেন, তখন তিনি ও তাঁর সঙ্গে সমস্ত ইস্রায়েল সদাপ্রভুর ব্যবস্থা ত্যাগ করলেন।
And it came to pass, when Rehobo'am had established the kingdom, and when he had become strong, that he forsook the law of the Lord, and all Israel with him.
2 ২ আর রহবিরাম রাজার রাজত্বের পঞ্চম বছরে মিশরের রাজা শীশক যিরূশালেম আক্রমণ করলেন, কারণ লোকেরা সদাপ্রভুকে অমান্য করেছিল।
And it came to pass in the fifth year of king Rehobo'am, that Shishak the king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, —because they had acted faithlessly against the Lord, —
3 ৩ সেই রাজার সঙ্গে বারোশো রথ ও ষাট হাজার ঘোড়াচালক ছিল এবং মিশর থেকে তাঁর সঙ্গে অসংখ্য লূবীয়, সুক্কীয় ও কূশীয় সৈন্য এসেছিল।
With twelve hundred chariots and sixty thousand horsemen: and innumerable were the people that came with him out of Egypt—the Lubim, the Sukkiyim, and the Ethiopians.
And he captured the fortified cities which pertained to Judah, and he came as far as Jerusalem.
5 ৫ তখন শময়িয় ভাববাদী রহবিয়ামের কাছে এবং যিহূদার যে শাসনকর্তারা শীশকের ভয়ে যিরূশালেমে এসে জড়ো হয়েছিলেন, তাঁদের কাছে এসে বললেন, “সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন, ‘তোমরা আমাকে ত্যাগ করেছ, সেইজন্য আমিও তোমাদেরকে শীশকের হাতে ছেড়ে দিলাম।’”
And Shem'ayah the prophet came to Rehobo'am, and the princes of Judah, that were gathered together to Jerusalem because of Shishak, and said unto them, Thus hath said the Lord, Ye have indeed forsaken me, and therefore have I also relinquished you into the hand of Shishak.
Thereupon the princes of Israel and the king humbled themselves; and they said, The Lord is righteous.
7 ৭ যখন সদাপ্রভু দেখলেন যে, তারা নিজেদের নত করেছে, তখন শময়িয়ের কাছে সদাপ্রভুর এই বাক্য আসলো, “তারা নিজেদের নত করেছে, আমি তাদের ধ্বংস করব না; কিছু দিনের র মধ্যেই তাদের উদ্ধার করব। শীশকের মধ্য দিয়ে যিরূশালেমের উপর আমার ক্রোধ ঢেলে দেব না।
And when the Lord saw that they had humbled themselves, then came the word of the Lord to Shem'ayah, saying, “They have humbled themselves: I will not destroy them; but I will permit some little to escape from them; and my wrath shall not be poured out over Jerusalem by the hand of Shishak.”
8 ৮ কিন্তু তারা তার দাস হবে, এতে তারা আমার দাস হওয়া কি এবং অন্য দেশীয় রাজ্যের দাস হওয়া কি, এটা তারা বুঝতে পারবে।”
However they shall be servants unto him, and they shall know my service, and the service of the kingdoms of the [various] countries.
9 ৯ মিশরের রাজা শীশক যিরূশালেম আক্রমণ করে সদাপ্রভুর গৃহের ও রাজবাড়ীর সমস্ত ধন সম্পদ নিয়ে গেলেন; তিনি সব কিছুই নিয়ে গেলেন; শলোমনের তৈরী সোনার ঢালগুলিও নিয়ে গেলেন।
And so came up Shishak the king of Egypt against Jerusalem, and he took away the treasures of the house of the Lord, and the treasures of the king's house: every thing did he take away; and he took away the shields of gold which Solomon had made.
10 ১০ পরে রাজা রহবিয়াম সেগুলির বদলে পিতলের ঢাল তৈরী করে রাজবাড়ীর দারোয়ানের শাসনকর্ত্তাদের হাতে সেগুলির ভার দিলেন।
And king Rehobo'am made in their stead shields of copper, and committed them for keeping into the hand of the chiefs of the runners, who kept guard at the door of the king's house.
11 ১১ রাজা যখন সদাপ্রভুর গৃহে যেতেন, তখন ঐ দারোয়ানরা সেই ঢালগুলি ধরত, পরে দারোয়ানদের ঘরে ফিরিয়ে নিয়ে যেত।
And it happened whenever the king went into the house of the Lord, that the runners came and bore them, and carried them back into the apartment of the runners.
12 ১২ রহবিয়াম নিজেকে নত করার ফলে সদাপ্রভুর ক্রোধ থেকে উদ্ধার পেল, তাঁর সর্বনাশ হল না। আর যিহূদার মধ্যেও কিছু কিছু ভাল লোক ছিল।
And when he had humbled himself, the wrath of the Lord turned from him, so that he destroyed him not to make an end [of him]: and also in Judah were some good things [found].
13 ১৩ রাজা রহবিয়াম যিরূশালেমে নিজেকে বলবান করে রাজত্ব করলেন; তার ফলে রহবিয়াম একচল্লিশ বছর বয়সে রাজত্ব করতে শুরু করলেন এবং সদাপ্রভু নিজের নাম স্থাপনের জন্য ইস্রায়েলের সমস্ত বংশের মধ্যে থেকে যে নগর মনোনীত করেছিলেন, সেই যিরূশালেমে তিনি সতেরো বছর রাজত্ব করেছিলেন। রহবিয়ামের মায়ের নাম নয়মা, তিনি অম্মোনীয়া।
And king Rehobo'am strengthened himself in Jerusalem, and reigned; for Rehobo'am was one and forty years old when he became king, and seventeen years did he reign in Jerusalem, the city which the Lord had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel, to put his name there. And his mother's name was Na'amah the 'Ammonitess.
And he did the evil; because he directed not his heart to seek the Lord.
15 ১৫ রহবিয়ামের কাজের কথা প্রথম থেকে শেষ পর্যন্ত শময়িয় ভাববাদীর ও ইদ্দো দর্শকের বংশবলির বইয়ে কি লেখা নেই? রহবিয়ামের ও যারবিয়ামের মধ্যে সব দিন যুদ্ধ হত।
And the acts of Rehobo'am, the first and the last, behold, they are written in the history of Shem'ayah the prophet, and of 'Iddo, the seer concerning the genealogies. And the wars of Rehobo'am and Jerobo'am [lasted] all the days.
16 ১৬ পরে রহবিয়াম তাঁর পূর্বপুরুষদের সঙ্গে ঘুমিয়ে পড়লেন এবং দায়ূদ নগরে তাঁকে কবর দেওয়া হল, আর তাঁর ছেলে অবিয় তাঁর জায়গায় রাজা হলেন।
And Rehobo'am slept with his fathers, and was buried in the city of David: and Abiyah his son became king in his stead.
