1 ১ পরে পলেষ্টীয়রা নিজেদের সমস্ত সৈন্যদল অফেকে জড়ো করল এবং ইস্রায়েলীয়দের যিষ্রিয়েলে অবস্থিত উনুইএর কাছে শিবির স্থাপন করলেন।

2 ২ পলেষ্টীয়দের শাসকেরা একশো সংখ্যক ও হাজার সংখ্যক সৈন্যদল নিয়ে এগিয়ে যেতে লাগলেন, আর সবার শেষে আখীশের সঙ্গে দায়ূদ ও তার লোকেরা এগিয়ে গেলেন।

3 ৩ তখন পলেষ্টীয়দের অধ্যক্ষরা জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “এই ইব্রীয়েরা এখানে কি করে?” আখীশ পলেষ্টীয়দের অধ্যক্ষদের উত্তর করলেন, “এই ব্যক্তি কি ইস্রায়েলের রাজা শৌলের দাস দায়ূদ না? সে এতদিন ও এত বছর আমার সঙ্গে বাস করছে এবং যেদিন আমার পক্ষে এসেছে, সেই থেকে আজ পর্যন্ত এর কোনো ত্রুটি দেখিনি।”

4 ৪ তাতে পলেষ্টীয়দের অধ্যক্ষরা তার উপর ক্রুদ্ধ হলেন; আর পলেষ্টীয়দের অধ্যক্ষরা তাকে বললেন, “তুমি তাকে ফিরিয়ে পাঠিয়ে দাও; সে তোমার নিরূপিত নিজের জায়গায় ফিরে যাক, আমাদের সঙ্গে যুদ্ধে না আসুক, যদি সে যুদ্ধে আমাদের বিপক্ষ হয়; কারণ এইসব লোকের মুন্ডু ছাড়া আর কিসে নিজের কর্তাকে প্রসন্ন করবে?

6 ৬ তখন আখীশ দায়ূদকে ডেকে বললেন, “জীবন্ত সদাপ্রভুর দিব্যি, তুমি সরল লোক এবং সৈন্যের মধ্যে আমার সঙ্গে তোমার যাতায়াত আমার দৃষ্টিতে ভাল, কারণ তোমার আসবার দিন থেকে আজ পর্যন্ত আমি তোমার কোনো দোষ পায়নি, তবুও শাসকেরা তোমার উপরে সন্তুষ্ট নন।

8 ৮ তখন দায়ূদ আখীশকে বললেন, “কিন্তু আমি কি করেছি? আজ পর্যন্ত যতদিন আপনার সামনে আছি, আপনি এই দাসের কি দোষ পেয়েছেন যে, আমি নিজের প্রভু মহারাজের শত্রুদের সঙ্গে যুদ্ধ করতে পারব না?”

9 ৯ তাতে আখীশ উত্তর করে দায়ূদকে বললেন “আমি জানি, ঈশ্বরের দূতের মতো তুমি আমার দৃষ্টিতে ভালো, কিন্তু পলেষ্টীয়দের অধ্যক্ষরা বলেছেন, সেই ব্যক্তি আমাদের সঙ্গে যুদ্ধে যেতে পারবে না।

10 ১০ অতএব তোমার সঙ্গে তোমার প্রভুর যে দাসেরা এসেছেন, তাদেরকে নিয়ে ভোরবেলায় ওঠ; আর ভোরবেলায় ওঠা মাত্র আলো হলে চলে যেও।”

11 ১১ তাতে দায়ূদ ও তার লোকেরা ভোরবেলায় উঠে সকালে যাত্রা করে পলেষ্টীয়দের দেশে ফিরে গেলেন। আর পলেষ্টীয়েরা যিষ্রিয়েলে গেলেন।
