শমূয়েলের প্রথম বই 24
1 ১ পরে শৌল পলেষ্টীয়দের আর তাড়া না করে ফিরে এলে লোকে তাঁকে এই খবর দিল, “দেখুন, দায়ূদ ঐন-গদীর উপত্যকায় আছে৷”
And it came to pass, when Saul had returned from following the Philistines, that it was told him, saying: Lo! David is in the wilderness of En-gedi.
2 ২ তাতে শৌল সমস্ত ইস্রায়েল থেকে নির্বাচিত তিন হাজার লোক নিয়ে বন্য ছাগলের শৈলের উপরে দায়ূদের ও তাঁর লোকদের খোঁজে গেলেন৷
Then Saul took three thousand chosen men, out of all Israel, —and went to seek David and his men, over the face of the rocks of the mountain-goats.
3 ৩ পথের মধ্যে তিনি মেষবাথানে উপস্থিত হলেন; সেখানে এক গুহা ছিল; আর শৌল পা ঢাকবার জন্য তার মধ্যে প্রবেশ করলেন; কিন্তু দায়ূদ ও তাঁর লোকেরা সেই গুহার একদম ভেতরে বসেছিলেন৷
And he came into the sheep-folds by the way, there, being a cave, which Saul entered, to cover his feet, —David and his men, in the hinder part of the cave, having taken up their abode.
4 ৪ তখন দায়ূদের লোকেরা তাঁকে বলল, “দেখুন, এ সেই দিন, যে দিনের র কথা সদাপ্রভু আপনাকে বলেছেন, দেখ, আমিই তোমার শত্রুকে তোমার হাতে সমর্পণ করব, তখন তুমি তার প্রতি যা ভালো বুঝবে, তাই করবে৷” তাতে দায়ূদ উঠে চুপিচুপি শৌলের কাপড়ের সামনের অংশ কেটে নিলেন৷
So David’s men said unto him—Lo! the day of which Yahweh said unto thee—Lo! I am about to deliver up thine enemy, into thy hand: therefore shall thou do unto him, as shall be good in thine eyes. And David arose, and cut off the corner of the robe which belonged to Saul, by stealth.
And it came to pass afterwards that David’s heart smote him, —because he had cut off the corner [of the robe] which belonged to Saul.
6 ৬ আর তিনি নিজের লোকদেরকে বললেন, “আমার প্রভুর প্রতি, সদাপ্রভুর অভিষিক্তের প্রতি এমন কাজ করতে, তাঁর বিরুদ্ধে আমার হাত তুলতে সদাপ্রভু আমাকে না দিন; কারণ তিনি সদাপ্রভুর অভিষিক্ত৷”
And he said unto his men—Far be it from me, of Yahweh, that I should do this thing unto my lord, unto the Anointed of Yahweh, to thrust forth my hand against him, —for, the Anointed of Yahweh, is he!
7 ৭ এইরকম কথা বলে দায়ূদ নিজের লোকদেরকে শাসন করলেন, শৌলের বিরুদ্ধে যেতে দিলেন না৷ পরে শৌল উঠে গুহা থেকে বেরিয়ে গিয়ে নিজের পথে চললেন৷
So David did chide his men with the words, and did not suffer them to rise up against Saul. And, Saul, rose up out of the cave, and went on his way.
8 ৮ তারপরে দায়ূদও উঠে গুহা থেকে বেরিয়ে এলেন এবং শৌলকে পিছন থেকে ডেকে বললেন, “হে আমার প্রভু মহারাজ,” আর শৌল পিছনের দিকে তাকালে দায়ূদ ভূমিতে মাথা নিচু করে প্রণাম করলেন৷
Then David rose up, afterwards, and went forth out of the cave, and cried out after Saul, saying—My lord, O king! And, when Saul looked about behind him, David inclined his face to the earth, and bowed himself down.
9 ৯ আর দায়ূদ শৌলকে বললেন, “মানুষের এমন কথা আপনি কেন শোনেন যে, ‘দেখুন, দায়ূদ আপনার ক্ষতি করার চেষ্টা করছে?’
Then said David to Saul, Wherefore shouldst thou hearken unto the words of the sons of earth, saying, —Lo! David is seeking thy hurt?
10 ১০ দেখুন, আপনি আজ নিজের চোখে দেখছেন, আজ এই গুহার মধ্যে সদাপ্রভু আপনাকে আমার হাতে সমর্পণ করেছিলেন এবং কেউ আপনাকে হত্যা করবার পরামর্শ দিয়েছিল, কিন্তু আপনার উপরে মমতা হল, আমি বললাম, ‘আমার প্রভুর বিরুদ্ধে হাত তুলব না, কারণ তিনি সদাপ্রভুর অভিষিক্ত৷’
Lo! this day, have thine own eyes seen, how Yahweh had delivered thee up, to-day, into my hand in the cave, and, when one bade me slay thee, I looked with compassion upon thee, —and I said—I will not thrust forth my hand against my lord, for, the Anointed of Yahweh, is he!
11 ১১ আর হে আমার পিতা, দেখুন; হ্যাঁ, আমার হাতে আপনার কাপড়ের এই অংশ দেখুন; কারণ আমি আপনার কাপড়ের সামনের অংশ কেটে নিয়েছি, তবুও আপনাকে হত্যা করি নি, এতে আপনি বিচার করে দেখবেন, আমি হিংসায় কি অধর্মে হাত তুলি না এবং আপনার বিরুদ্ধে পাপ করি নি; তবুও আপনি আমার প্রাণ কেড়ে নেবার জন্য [শিকার] মৃগয়া করছেন৷
But, my father, see, yea, see, the corner of thy robe in my hand, —for, in that I cut off the corner of thy robe, and yet did not slay thee, know thou, and see, that there is not in my hand either wrong or transgression, neither have I sinned against thee, yet art thou hunting my life, to take it.
12 ১২ সদাপ্রভু আমার ও আপনার মধ্যে বিচার করবেন, আপনার করা অন্যায় থেকে আমাকে উদ্ধার করবেন, কিন্তু আমার হাত আপনার বিরুদ্ধে উঠবে না৷
Let Yahweh do justice betwixt me and thee, and let Yahweh avenge me of thee, —but, mine own hand, shall not be upon thee.
13 ১৩ প্রাচীনদের প্রবাদে বলে, ‘দুষ্টদের থেকেই দুষ্টতা জন্মায়,’ কিন্তু আমার হাত আপনার বিরুদ্ধ হবে না৷
As saith the proverb of the ancients, From the lawless, proceedeth lawlessness, —mine own hand, therefore shall not be upon thee.
14 ১৪ ইস্রায়েলের রাজা কার পিছনে বেরিয়ে এসেছেন? আপনি কার পিছনে পিছনে তাড়া করছেন? একটা মৃত কুকুরের পিছনে, একটা মাছির পিছনে৷
After whom, hath the king of Israel come forth? After whom, art thou in pursuit? After a dead dog! after a single flea!
15 ১৫ কিন্তু সদাপ্রভু বিচারকর্ত্তা হন, তিনি আমার ও আপনার মধ্যে বিচার করুন; আর তিনি দৃষ্টিপাত করে আমার বিবাদ শেষ করুন এবং আপনার হাত থেকে আমাকে রক্ষা করুন৷”
Therefore shall, Yahweh, become, judge, and do justice betwixt me and thee, —that he may see, and plead my cause, and justly deliver me out of thy hand.
16 ১৬ দায়ূদ শৌলের কাছে এই সব কথা শেষ করলে শৌল জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “হে আমার সন্তান দায়ূদ, এ কি তোমার স্বর?” আর শৌল খুব জোরে কাঁদলেন৷
And it came to pass, when David had made an end of speaking these words unto Saul, that Saul said, Thy voice, is this, my son David? And Saul lifted up his voice, and wept.
17 ১৭ পরে তিনি দায়ূদকে বললেন, “আমার থেকে তুমি ধার্মিক, কারণ তুমি আমার উপকার করেছ, কিন্তু আমি তোমার অপকার করেছি৷
And he said unto David, More righteous, art thou than I, for, thou, hast requited me, good, but, I, have requited thee, evil.
18 ১৮ তুমি আমার প্রতি কেমন ভালো ব্যবহার করে আসছ, তা আজ দেখালে; সদাপ্রভু আমাকে তোমার হাতে সমর্পণ করলেও তুমি আমাকে হত্যা করনি৷
Thou, then, hast told to-day, how thou hast dealt with me, for good, —how, when Yahweh had surrendered me into thy hand, thou didst not slay me.
19 ১৯ মানুষ নিজের শত্রুকে পেলে কি তাকে ভালোর পথে ছেড়ে দেয়? আজ তুমি আমার প্রতি যা করলে, তার প্রতিশোধে সদাপ্রভু তোমার মঙ্গল করুন৷
Yet, when a man findeth his enemy, will he let him get easily away? Yahweh, then, give thee, good, reward for what, this day, thou hast done unto me.
Now, therefore, lo! I know that thou, shalt indeed become king, —and that the kingdom of Israel, shall be established in thy hand.
21 ২১ অতএব এখন সদাপ্রভুর নামে আমার কাছে দিব্যি কর যে, তুমি আমার পরে আমার বংশ বিনাশ করবে না ও আমার বাবার বংশ থেকে আমার নাম লোপ করবে না৷”
Now, therefore, swear unto me by Yahweh, that thou wilt not eat off my seed, after me, —and wilt not destroy my name out of the house my father.
22 ২২ তখন দায়ূদ শৌলের কাছে দিব্যি করলেন৷ পরে শৌল বাড়ি চলে গেলেন, কিন্তু দায়ূদ ও তাঁর লোকেরা সুরক্ষিত জায়গায় উঠে গেলেন৷
So David sware unto Saul, —and Saul departed unto his own house, but, David and his men, went up on the stronghold.
