শমূয়েলের প্রথম বই 13
Saul nowe had beene King one yeere, and he reigned two yeeres ouer Israel.
2 ২ শৌল নিজেদের জন্য ইস্রায়েলের মধ্যে তিন হাজার জন লোক নির্বাচন করলেন; তার মধ্যে দুহাজার মিকমসে ও বৈথেল পর্বতে শৌলের সঙ্গে থাকল এবং এক হাজার বিন্যামীন প্রদেশের গিবিয়াতে যোনাথনের সঙ্গে থাকল; আর অন্য সব লোককে তিনি নিজেদের তাঁবুতে পাঠিয়ে দিলেন৷
Then Saul chose him three thousand of Israel: and two thousande were with Saul in Michmash, and in mount Beth-el, and a thousande were with Ionathan in Gibeah of Beniamin: and the rest of the people he sent euery one to his tent.
3 ৩ পরে যোনাথন গেবাতে থাকা পলেষ্টীয়দের পাহারাদার সৈন্যদলকে আঘাত করলেন ও পলেষ্টীয়েরা তা শুনল; তখন শৌল দেশের সব জায়গায় তূরী বাজিয়ে বললেন, “ইব্রীয়েরা শুনুক৷”
And Ionathan smote the garison of the Philistims, that was in the hill: and it came to the Philistims eares: and Saul blewe the trumpet throughout all the land, saying, Heare, O yee Ebrewes.
4 ৪ তখন সমস্ত ইস্রায়েল এই কথা শুনল যে, শৌল পলেষ্টীয়দের সেই পাহারাদার সৈন্যদলকে আঘাত করেছেন, আর ইস্রায়েলের জন্য পলেষ্টীয়দের তীব্র ঘৃণা জন্মেছে৷ পরে লোকেরা শৌলের সঙ্গে গিলগলে যোগ দিল৷
And al Israel heard say, Saul hath destroied a garison of the Philistims: wherefore Israel was had in abomination with the Philistims: and the people gathered together after Saul to Gilgal.
5 ৫ পরে পলেষ্টীয়েরা ইস্রায়েলের সঙ্গে যুদ্ধ করতে এল; ত্রিশ হাজার রথ, ছয় হাজার ঘোড়াচালক ও সমুদ্রতীরের বালির মতো অগুন্তি লোক আসল; তারা এসে বৈৎ-আবনের পূর্বদিকে মিকমসে শিবির তৈরী করল৷
The Philistims also gathered themselues together to fight with Israel, thirty thousand charets, and sixe thousande horsemen: for the people was like the sand which is by the seas side in multitude, and came vp, and pitched in Michmash Eastward from Beth-auen.
6 ৬ তখন ইস্রায়েলের লোকেরা নিজেদেরকে বিপদের মধ্যে দেখল, কারণ লোকেরা পীড়িত হচ্ছিল; তখন লোকেরা গুহাতে, ঝোপে, শৈলে, উঁচু জায়গায় ও গর্তে লুকাল৷
And when the men of Israel saw that they were in a strait (for the people were in distresse) the people hid themselues in caues, and in holdes, and in rockes, and in towres, and in pittes.
7 ৭ আর কয়েকজন ইব্রীয় যর্দ্দন পার হয়ে গাদ ও গিলিয়দ দেশে গেল৷ কিন্তু তখনও শৌল গিলগলে ছিলেন এবং তাঁর পিছনে আসা লোকেরা সবাই কাঁপতে লাগল৷
And some of the Ebrewes went ouer Iorden vnto the lande of Gad and Gilead: and Saul was yet in Gilgal, and al the people for feare followed him.
8 ৮ পরে শৌল শমূয়েলের ঠিক করা দিন অনুসারে সাত দিন অপেক্ষা করলেন; কিন্তু শমূয়েল গিলগলে এলেন না এবং লোকেরা তাঁর কাছ থেকে ছড়িয়ে পড়তে লাগল৷
And he taried seuen daies, according vnto the time that Samuel had appointed: but Samuel came not to Gilgal, therefore the people were scattered from him.
9 ৯ তাতে শৌল বললেন, “এই জায়গায় আমার কাছে হোমবলি ও মঙ্গলার্থক বলি আন৷” পরে তিনি হোমবলি উত্সর্গ করলেন৷
And Saul sayde, Bring a burnt offering to me and peace offrings: and he offered a burnt offering.
10 ১০ হোমবলি উত্সর্গ শেষ করার সঙ্গে সঙ্গেই শমূয়েল উপস্থিত হলেন; তাতে শৌল তাঁকে অভিবাদন করার জন্য তাঁর সঙ্গে দেখা করতে গেলেন৷
And assoone as hee had made an ende of offering the burnt offering, beholde, Samuel came: and Saul went foorth to meete him, to salute him.
11 ১১ পরে শমূয়েল বললেন, “তুমি কি করলে?” শৌল বললেন, “আমি দেখলাম, লোকেরা আমার কাছ থেকে ছড়িয়ে পড়ছে এবং নির্ধারিত দিনের র মধ্যে আপনিও আসেন নি, আর পলেষ্টীয়েরা মিকমসে জড়ো হয়েছে;
And Samuel saide, What hast thou done? Then Saul saide, Because I sawe that the people was scattred from me, and that thou camest not within the daies appoynted, and that the Philistims gathered themselues together to Michmash,
12 ১২ তাই আমি মনে মনে বললাম, ‘পলেষ্টীয়েরা এখনই আমার বিরুদ্ধে গিলগলে নেমে আসবে,’ আর আমি সদাপ্রভুর দয়া চাই নি; তাই ইচ্ছা না থাকলেও আমি হোমবলি উত্সর্গ করলাম৷”
Therefore said I, The Philistims will come downe nowe vpon me to Gilgal, and I haue not made supplication vnto the Lord. I was bolde therefore and offred a burnt offring.
13 ১৩ শমূয়েল শৌলকে বললেন, “তুমি বোকার মত কাজ করেছ; তোমার ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু তোমাকে যে আদেশ দিয়েছেন, তা মেনে চলনি; মানলে সদাপ্রভু এখন ইস্রায়েলের উপরে তোমার রাজত্ব চিরকাল স্থায়ী করতেন৷
And Samuel saide to Saul, Thou hast done foolishly: thou hast not kept the commandement of the Lord thy God, which he commanded thee: for the Lord had nowe stablished thy kingdome vpon Israel for euer.
14 ১৪ কিন্তু এখন তোমার রাজত্ব স্থির থাকবে না; সদাপ্রভু নিজের মনের মত এক জনকে বেছে নিয়ে তাকেই নিজের প্রজাদের শাসনকর্ত্তার পদে নিযুক্ত করেছেন; কারণ সদাপ্রভু তোমাকে যা আদেশ করেছিলেন, তুমি তা পালন করনি৷”
But nowe thy kingdom shall not continue: the Lord hath sought him a man after his owne heart, and the Lord hath commanded him to be gouernour ouer his people, because thou hast not kept that which the Lord had commanded thee.
15 ১৫ পরে শমূয়েল উঠে গিলগল থেকে বিন্যামীনের গিবিয়াতে চলে গেলেন; তখন শৌল নিজের কাছের বর্তমান লোকদেরকে গণনা করলেন, তারা অনুমান ছশো জন৷
And Samuel arose, and gate him vp from Gilgal in Gibeah of Beniamin: and Saul nombred the people that were found with him, about sixe hundreth men.
16 ১৬ শৌল তাঁর ছেলে যোনাথন ও তাদের কাছের বর্তমান লোকেরা বিন্যামীনের গেবাতে থাকলেন এবং পলেষ্টীয়েরা মিকমসে শিবির তৈরী করে থাকলো৷
And Saul and Ionathan his sonne, and the people that were found with them, had their abiding in Gibeah of Beniamin: but the Philistims pitched in Michmash.
17 ১৭ পরে পলেষ্টীয়দের শিবির থেকে তিনদল বিনাশকারী সৈন্য বেরিয়ে এল, তার একদল অফ্রার রাস্তা দিয়ে শূয়াল প্রদেশে গেল৷
And there came out of the hoste of the Philistims three bandes to destroie, one bande turned vnto the way of Ophrah vnto the lande of Shual,
18 ১৮ আর একদল বৈৎ-হোরোণের পথের দিকে ফিরল এবং আর একদল মরুপ্রান্তের দিকে সিবোয়িম উপত্যকার দিকে সীমানার পথ দিয়ে গেল৷
And another bad turned toward the way to Beth-horon, and the third band turned toward the way of the coast that looketh toward the valley of Zeboim, towarde the wildernesse.
19 ১৯ ঐ দিনের সমস্ত ইস্রায়েল দেশে কামার পাওয়া যেত না; কারণ পলেষ্টীয়েরা বলত, “যদি ইব্রীয়েরা নিজেদের জন্য তরোয়াল কি বর্শা তৈরী করে৷”
Then there was no smith founde throughout all the land of Israel: for the Philistims sayde, Lest the Ebrewes make them swordes or speares.
20 ২০ এই জন্য নিজেদের হলমুখ বা ফাল বা কুড়ুল বা কোদাল ধার দেবার জন্য ইস্রায়েলের সব লোককে পলেষ্টীয়দের কাছে নেমে আসতে হত৷
Wherefore all ye Israelites went downe to the Philistims, to sharpen euery man his share, his mattocke, and his axe, and his weeding hooke.
21 ২১ সুতরাং সকলের কোদাল, (তিন ভাগের দুই ভাগ সেকল) ফাল (4 গ্রাম রৌপ্য মুদ্রা) বিদা, কুড়ুলের ধার এবং রাখালের লাঠির কাঁটা ভোঁতা ছিল;
Yet they had a file for the shares, and for the mattockes, and for the picke forkes, and for the axes, and for to sharpen the goades.
22 ২২ আর যুদ্ধের দিনের শৌলের ও যোনাথনের সঙ্গী লোকদের কারও হাতে তরোয়াল বা বর্শা পাওয়া গেল না, শুধুমাত্র শৌলের ও তাঁর ছেলে যোনাথনের হাতে পাওয়া গেল৷
So whe the day of battell was come, there was neither sworde nor speare founde in the handes of any of the people that were with Saul and with Ionathan: but onely with Saul and Ionathan his sonne was there founde.
And the garison of the Philistims came out to the passage of Michmash.
