শমূয়েলের প্রথম বই 11
1 ১ পরে অম্মোনীয় নাহশ এসে যাবেশ-গিলিয়দের সামনে শিবির স্থাপন করলেন; আর যাবেশের সব লোক নাহশকে বলল, “আপনি আমাদের সঙ্গে নিয়ম তৈরী করুন; আমরা আপনার দাস হব৷”
After about a month, Nahash the Ammonite came up and camped against Jabesh Gilead: and all the men of Jabesh said to Nahash, "Make a covenant with us, and we will serve you."
2 ২ অম্মোনীয় নাহশ তাদেরকে এই উত্তর দিলেন, “আমি এই শর্তে তোমাদের সঙ্গে নিয়ম তৈরী করব যে, তোমাদের সবার ডান চোখ তুলে ফেলতে হবে এবং তার মাধ্যমে আমি সমস্ত ইস্রায়েলের বদনাম করব৷”
And Nahash the Ammonite said to them, "On this condition I will make a covenant with you, that all your right eyes are put out; and I will make it a disgrace on all Israel."
3 ৩ তখন যাবেশের প্রাচীনেরা বললেন, “আপনি সাত দিন আমাদের প্রতি ধৈর্য ধরুন; আমরা ইস্রায়েলের সব জায়গায় দূত পাঠাই; তাতে কেউ যদি আমাদেরকে উদ্ধার না করে, তবে আমরা বেরিয়ে আপনার কাছে যাব৷”
The elders of Jabesh said to him, "Give us seven days, that we may send messengers to all the borders of Israel; and then, if there is no one to save us, we will come out to you."
4 ৪ পরে দূতেরা শৌলের [বাড়ি] গিবিয়ায় এসে লোকেদের কানের কাছে এই কথা বলল, “তাতে সব লোক খুব জোরে কাঁদতে লাগলো৷”
Then the messengers came to Gibeah of Saul, and spoke these words in the ears of the people: and all the people lifted up their voice, and wept.
5 ৫ পরে দেখ, শৌল ক্ষেত থেকে বলদের পিছন পিছন যাচ্ছিলেন৷ শৌল জিজ্ঞাসা করলেন, “লোকেদের কি হয়েছে? ওরা কাঁদছে কেন?” লোকেরা যাবেশের লোকেদের কথা তাঁকে বলল৷
Look, Saul came following the oxen out of the field; and Saul said, "What ails the people that they weep?" They told him the words of the men of Jabesh.
The Spirit of God came mightily on Saul when he heard those words, and his anger was kindled greatly.
7 ৭ আর তিনি দুটি বলদ নিয়ে খন্ড খন্ড করে ঐ দূতেদের দিয়ে ইস্রায়েল দেশের সব জায়গায় পাঠিয়ে দিয়ে বললেন, “যে কেউ শৌলের ও শমূয়েলের সঙ্গে বাইরে না আসবে তার বলদের সঙ্গে এই রকম করা হবে,” তাতে সদাপ্রভুর প্রতি লোকদের ভয় উপস্থিত হওয়াতে তারা এক মানুষের মত বার হল৷
He took a yoke of oxen, and cut them in pieces, and sent them throughout all the borders of Israel by the hand of messengers, saying, "Whoever doesn't come forth after Saul and after Samuel, so shall it be done to his oxen." The dread of the LORD fell on the people, and they came out as one man.
8 ৮ পরে তিনি বেষকে তাদের গণনা করলেন; তাতে ইস্রায়েল সন্তানদের তিন লক্ষ ও যিহূদার ত্রিশ হাজার লোক হল৷
He numbered them in Bezek; and the children of Israel were three hundred thousand, and the men of Judah thirty thousand.
9 ৯ পরে তারা সেই আগত দূতেদের বলল, “তোমরা যাবেশ-গিলিয়দের লোকদের কে বলবে, কাল কড়া রোদের দিন তোমরা উদ্ধার পাবে৷” তখন দূতেরা এসে যাবেশের লোকেদের ঐ খবর দিল ও তারা আনন্দ পেল৷
And he said to the messengers who came, "Thus you shall tell the men of Jabesh Gilead, 'Tomorrow, by the time the sun is hot, you shall have deliverance.'" The messengers came and told the men of Jabesh; and they were glad.
10 ১০ পরে যাবেশের লোকেরা [নাহশকে] বলল, “কাল আমরা আপনাদের কাছে যাব; আপনাদের চোখে যা ভালো মনে হয়, আমাদের প্রতি তাই করবেন৷”
Therefore the men of Jabesh said, "Tomorrow we will come out to you, and you shall do with us all that seems good to you."
11 ১১ পরের দিন শৌল নিজের লোকদেরকে তিন দল করে খুব ভোরে [শত্রুদের] শিবিরের মধ্যে এসে কড়া রোদ পর্যন্ত অম্মোনীয়দেরকে হত্যা করলেন; আর তাদের অবশিষ্ট লোকেরা এমন ছিন্ন-ভিন্ন হল যে, তাদের দুজন এক জায়গায় থাকল৷
It was so on the next day, that Saul put the people in three companies; and they came into the midst of the camp in the morning watch, and struck the Ammonites until the heat of the day: and it happened, that those who remained were scattered, so that no two of them were left together.
12 ১২ পরে লোকেরা শমূয়েলকে বলল, “কে বলেছে, শৌল কি আমাদের ওপর রাজা হবে? সেই লোকেদের আন, আমরা তাদেরকে হত্যা করি৷”
And the people said to Samuel, "Who is it that said Saul should not reign over us? Bring those men so we may put them to death."
13 ১৩ কিন্তু শৌল বললেন, “আজ কারো প্রাণদন্ড হবে না, কারণ আজ সদাপ্রভু ইস্রায়েলের মধ্যে উদ্ধার কাজ করলেন৷”
Saul said, "There shall not a man be put to death this day; for today the LORD has worked deliverance in Israel."
Then Samuel said to the people, "Come, and let us go to Gilgal, and renew the kingdom there."
15 ১৫ তাতে সমস্ত লোক গিলগলে গিয়ে সেই গিলগলে সদাপ্রভুর সামনে শৌলকে রাজা করল এবং সে স্থানে সদাপ্রভুর সামনে মঙ্গলার্থক বলি উত্সর্গ করল, আর সেই জায়গায় শৌল ও ইস্রায়েলের সমস্ত লোক খুব আনন্দ করল৷
All the people went to Gilgal; and there they made Saul king before the LORD in Gilgal; and there they offered sacrifices of peace offerings before the LORD; and there Saul and all the men of Israel rejoiced greatly.
