3 ৩ অবিয়ামের বাবা যে সব পাপ করেছিলেন তিনিও সেই সব পাপ করতে থাকলেন। তাঁর পূর্বপুরুষ দায়ূদের মত তাঁর হৃদয় তাঁর ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভুর প্রতি ভক্তি ছিল না।

4 ৪ তবুও দায়ূদের কথা মনে করে তাঁর ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু তাঁকে যিরূশালেমে একটা প্রদীপ দিলেন, অর্থাৎ তাঁর সিংহাসনে বসবার জন্য তাঁকে একটা ছেলে দিলেন এবং যিরূশালেমকে ধ্বংসের হাত থেকে রক্ষা করলেন,

5 ৫ কারণ সদাপ্রভুর চোখে যা ঠিক দায়ূদ তাই করতেন। কেবল হিত্তীয় ঊরিয়ের ব্যাপারটা ছাড়া তাঁর সারা জীবনে তিনি সদাপ্রভুর কোনো আদেশই অমান্য করেননি।

13 ১৩ এমন কি, তিনি তাঁর ঠাকুমা মাখাকেও রাজমাতার পদ থেকে সরিয়ে দিলেন, কারণ তিনি একটা জঘন্য আশেরা মূর্ত্তি তৈরী করিয়েছিলেন। আসা সেই মূর্তিটা কেটে ফেলে কিদ্রোণ উপত্যকায় নিয়ে গিয়ে সেটা পুড়িয়ে দিলেন।

18 ১৮ সদাপ্রভুর ঘরে এবং নিজের রাজবাড়ীর ভান্ডারে যে সব সোনা ও রূপা ছিল আসা সেগুলো সব বের করে নিলেন। সেগুলো তাঁর কর্মচারীদের হাতে দিয়ে অরামের রাজা বিনহদদের কাছে পাঠিয়ে দিলেন। বিনহদদ ছিলেন টব্রিম্মোণের ছেলে হিষিয়োণের নাতি। তিনি তখন দম্মেশকে রাজত্ব করছিলেন। আসা তাঁকে বলে পাঠালেন,

19 ১৯ “আমার ও আপনার বাবার মত আসুন, আমরাও আমাদের মধ্যে একটা চুক্তি করি। আমি আপনাকে এই সব সোনা ও রূপো উপহার পাঠালাম। ইস্রায়েলের রাজা বাশার সঙ্গে আপনি এখন চুক্তি ভেঙে ফেলুন, তাতে সে আমার কাছ থেকে চলে যাবে।”

22 ২২ তারপর রাজা আসা যিহূদার সকলের উপর একটা ঘোষণা করলেন, কাউকে বাদ দিলেন না। তাতে লোকেরা রামায় বাশার ব্যবহার করা পাথর ও কাঠ সব নিয়ে গেল। রাজা আসা সেই সব দিয়ে বিন্যামীনের গেবা ও মিস্পা শহর দুর্গের মত করে গড়ে তুললেন।

24 ২৪ পরে আসা তাঁর পূর্বপুরুষদের সঙ্গে নিদ্রায় গেলেন এবং তাঁর পূর্বপুরুষ দায়ূদের শহরে তাঁর পূর্বপুরুষদের সঙ্গে তাঁকে কবর দেওয়া হল। তাঁর ছেলে যিহোশাফট তাঁর জায়গায় রাজা হলেন।

26 ২৬ সদাপ্রভুর চোখে যা মন্দ তিনি তাই করতেন। তিনি তাঁর বাবার মত চলতেন, অর্থাৎ তাঁর বাবা ইস্রায়েলীয়দের দিয়ে যেমন পাপ করিয়েছিলেন তিনিও তাই করেছিলেন।

27 ২৭ ইষাখর গোষ্ঠীর অহিয়ের ছেলে বাশা নাদবের বিরুদ্ধে ষড়যন্ত্র করলেন। নাদব ও সমস্ত ইস্রায়েলীয়েরা যখন পলেষ্টীয়দের গিব্বথোন ঘেরাও করেছিল তখন বাশা গিব্বথোনে নাদবকে মেরে ফেললেন।

29 ২৯ তিনি রাজা হয়েই যারবিয়ামের পরিবারের সবাইকে মেরে ফেললেন। সদাপ্রভু তাঁর দাস শীলোনীয় ভাববাদী অহিয়ের মধ্য দিয়ে যে কথা বলেছিলেন সেই অনুসারে বাশা যারবিয়ামের পরিবারের সবাইকে ধ্বংস করে ফেললেন।
