At that time Abijah son of Jeroboam became very sick.
2 ২ তখন যারবিয়াম নিজের স্ত্রীকে বললেন, “উঠ, তুমি এমন কাপড় পর যাতে তোমাকে যারবিয়ামের স্ত্রী বলে চেনা না যায়। তারপর তুমি শীলোতে যাও। ভাববাদী অহিয় সেখানে আছেন। তিনিই আমাকে বলেছিলেন যে, আমি এই লোকদের রাজা হব।
Jeroboam said to his wife, “Please arise and disguise yourself, so you will not be recognized as my wife, and go to Shiloh, because Ahijah the prophet is there; he is the one who spoke about me, saying that I would become king over these people.
3 ৩ তুমি সঙ্গে করে দশটা রুটি, কিছু পিঠা ও এক ভাঁড় মধু নিয়ে তাঁর কাছে যাও। ছেলেটির কি হবে তা তিনি তোমাকে বলে দেবেন।”
Take with you ten loaves, some cakes, and a jar of honey, and go to Ahijah. He will tell you what will happen to the child.”
4 ৪ যারবিয়ামের স্ত্রী তাঁর কথামতই কাজ করলেন এবং শীলোতে অহিয়ের বাড়িতে গেলেন। তখন অহিয় চোখে দেখতে পেতেন না; কারণ বেশী বয়স হওয়ার জন্য তাঁর দেখবার শক্তি নষ্ট হয়ে গিয়েছিল।
Jeroboam's wife did so; she left and went to Shiloh and came to the house of Ahijah. Now Ahijah could not see; he lost his sight because of old age.
5 ৫ কিন্তু সদাপ্রভু অহিয়কে বলেছিলেন, “যারবিয়ামের স্ত্রী তোমার কাছে তার ছেলের বিষয়ে জিজ্ঞাসা করতে আসছে। ছেলেটির অসুখ হয়েছে। তুমি তার কথার এই এই উত্তর দেবে। এখানে এসে সে অন্য আর একজন স্ত্রীলোক বলে অপরিচিতের মত ভান করবে।”
Yahweh said to Ahijah, “Look, the wife of Jeroboam is coming to seek advice from you regarding her son, for he is sick. Say such and such to her, because when she comes, she will act as if she were some other woman.”
6 ৬ তখন দরজার কাছে তাঁর পায়ের শব্দ শুনে অহিয় বললেন, “ভিতরে এস, যারবিয়ামের স্ত্রী। তুমি কেন অপরিচিতের মত ভান করছ? তোমাকে খারাপ খবর দেবার জন্য আমাকে বলা হয়েছে।
When Ahijah heard the sound of her feet as she came in at the door, he said, “Come in, wife of Jeroboam. Why do you pretend to be someone you are not? I have been sent to you with bad news.
7 ৭ যাও, তুমি গিয়ে যারবিয়ামকে বল যে, ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু এই কথা বলেন, ‘আমি লোকদের মধ্য থেকে তোমাকে উঁচুতে তুলেছি এবং আমার লোক ইস্রায়েলীয়দের উপরে নেতা করেছি।
Go, tell Jeroboam that Yahweh, the God of Israel, says, 'I raised you from among the people to make you the leader over my people Israel.
8 ৮ আমি দায়ূদের বংশ থেকে রাজ্য ছিঁড়ে নিয়ে তোমাকে দিয়েছি, কিন্তু তুমি আমার দাস দায়ূদের মত হও নি। দায়ূদ আমার আদেশ মেনে চলত এবং মনে প্রাণে আমার বাধ্য ছিল। আমার চোখে যা ঠিক সে কেবল তাই করত।
I tore the kingdom away from the family of David and gave it to you, yet you have not been like my servant David, who kept my commandments and followed me with all his heart, to do only what was right in my eyes.
9 ৯ তোমার আগে যারা ছিল তুমি তাদের চেয়েও বেশী খারাপ কাজ করেছ। তুমি নিজের জন্য দেব দেবতা বানিয়ে নিয়েছ আর ছাঁচে ঢেলে মূর্ত্তি তৈরী করেছ। তুমি আমাকে অসন্তুষ্ট করে তুলেছ এবং আমাকে তোমার পিছনে ফেলে রেখেছ।
Instead, you have done evil, more than all who were before you. You have made other gods, and you have cast metal images to provoke me to anger, and have thrust me behind your back.
10 ১০ এই জন্য আমি যারবিয়ামের বংশের উপর বিপদ নিয়ে আসব। তার বংশ থেকে প্রত্যেকটি পুরুষকে আমি শেষ করে দেব, সে দাস হোক বা স্বাধীন হোক। লোকে যেমন করে ঘুঁটে পুড়িয়ে ছাই করে ফেলে তেমনি করে আমি যারবিয়ামের বংশকে একেবারে শেষ করে দেব।
Therefore, look, I will bring disaster on your family; I will cut off from you every male child in Israel, whether slave or free, and will completely remove your family, like someone who burns up dung until it is gone.
11 ১১ তার বংশের যে সব লোক শহরে মরবে তাদের খাবে কুকুরে আর যারা মাঠের মধ্যে মরবে তাদের খাবে পাখীতে। কারণ আমি সদাপ্রভুই এই কথা বলেছি।’
Anyone who belongs to your family who dies in the city will be eaten by dogs, and anyone who dies in the field will be eaten by the birds of the heavens, for I, Yahweh, have said it.'
So arise, wife of Jeroboam, and go back to your home; when your feet enter the city, the child Abijah will die.
13 ১৩ ইস্রায়েলের সবাই তার জন্য শোক করতে করতে তাকে কবর দেবে। যারবিয়ামের নিজের লোকদের মধ্যে কেবল সেই কবর পাবে, কারণ যারবিয়ামের বংশে কেবলমাত্র সেই ছেলেটির মধ্যেই ইস্রায়েলের ঈশ্বর সদাপ্রভু তাঁর প্রতি ভক্তি দেখতে পেয়েছেন।
All Israel will mourn for him and bury him. He is the only one from Jeroboam's family who will go into a grave, because only in him, out of Jeroboam's house, was anything good found in the sight of Yahweh, the God of Israel.
14 ১৪ সদাপ্রভু নিজের উদ্দেশ্যে ইস্রায়েলের লোকদের উপরে এমন এক জনকে রাজা করবেন যে যারবিয়ামের বংশকে একেবারে ধ্বংস করে দেবে। আজকেই সেই দিন, হ্যাঁ, এখনই।
Also, Yahweh will raise up a king of Israel who will cut off the family of Jeroboam on that day. Today is that day, right now.
15 ১৫ সদাপ্রভু ইস্রায়েলকে আঘাত করবেন, আর তাতে তা জলের মধ্যে দুলতে থাকা নল খাগড়ার মত হবে। যে দেশ তিনি তাদের পূর্বপুরুষদের দিয়েছিলেন সেই সুন্দর দেশ থেকে তিনি তাদের উপড়ে তুলে ফরাৎ (ইউফ্রেটিস) নদীর ওপারে ছড়িয়ে দেবেন, কারণ আশেরা মূর্ত্তি স্থাপন করে তারা সদাপ্রভুকে অসন্তুষ্ট করে তুলেছে।
For Yahweh will attack Israel as a reed is shaken in the water, and he will root up Israel out of this good land that he gave to their ancestors. He will scatter them beyond the Euphrates River, because they have made their Asherah poles and provoked Yahweh to anger.
16 ১৬ যারবিয়াম নিজে যে সব পাপ করেছে এবং ইস্রায়েলীয়দের লোকদের দিয়ে করিয়েছে তার জন্য সদাপ্রভু তাদের ত্যাগ করবেন।”
He will give Israel up because of the sins of Jeroboam, the sins that he has committed, and through which he has led Israel to sin.”
17 ১৭ এর পর যারবিয়ামের স্ত্রী উঠলেন এবং তির্সা শহরে গিয়ে উপস্থিত হলেন। তিনি বাড়ীর দরজার চৌকাঠে পা দেওয়া মাত্রই ছেলেটি মারা গেল।
So Jeroboam's wife arose and left, and came to Tirzah. As she came to the threshold of her house, the child died.
18 ১৮ সদাপ্রভু নিজের দাস ভাববাদী অহিয়ের মধ্য দিয়ে যেমন যে বাক্য বলেছিলেন তেমনই ইস্রায়েলের সমস্ত লোক ছেলেটির জন্য শোক করতে করতে তাকে কবর দিল।
All Israel buried him and mourned for him, just as it was told to them by the word of Yahweh which he had spoken by his servant Ahijah the prophet.
19 ১৯ যারবিয়ামের অন্যান্য কাজ, তাঁর সব যুদ্ধ এবং রাজত্ব করবার কথা “ইস্রায়েলের রাজাদের ইতিহাস” নামে বইটিতে লেখা আছে।
As for the other matters concerning Jeroboam, how he waged war and how he reigned, see, they are written in the book of the events of the kings of Israel.
20 ২০ বাইশ বছর রাজত্ব করবার পর তিনি তাঁর পূর্বপরুষদের সঙ্গে নিদ্রা গেলেন এবং তাঁর জায়গায় তাঁর ছেলে নাদব রাজা হলেন।
Jeroboam reigned twenty-two years and then slept with his ancestors, and Nadab his son became king in his place.
21 ২১ এদিকে যিহূদা দেশে শলোমনের ছেলে রহবিয়াম রাজত্ব করলেন। তিনি যখন রাজত্ব করতে শুরু করেন তখন তাঁর বয়স ছিল একচল্লিশ। ইস্রায়েলের গোষ্ঠীগুলোর সমস্ত জায়গার মধ্য থেকে যে শহরটা সদাপ্রভু নিজের বাসস্থান হিসাবে বেছে নিয়েছিলেন সেই যিরূশালেম শহরে রহবিয়াম সতেরো বছর রাজত্ব করেছিলেন। তাঁর মায়ের নাম ছিল নয়মা; তিনি জাতিতে ছিলেন একজন অম্মোনীয়।
Now Rehoboam son of Solomon was reigning in Judah. Rehoboam was forty-one years old when he became king, and he reigned seventeen years in Jerusalem, the city that Yahweh had chosen out of all the tribes of Israel in which to put his name. His mother's name was Naamah the Ammonite woman.
22 ২২ সদাপ্রভুর চোখে যা মন্দ যিহূদা লোকেরা তাই করতে লাগল। তাদের পূর্বপুরুষরা যা করেছে তার চেয়ে তাদের পাপের মধ্য দিয়ে তারা সদাপ্রভুর অন্তরের জ্বালা আরও বেশী করে জাগিয়ে তুলতো।
Judah did what was evil in the sight of Yahweh; they provoked him to jealousy with the sins that they committed, more than everything that their fathers had done.
23 ২৩ এছাড়া তারা নিজেদের জন্য প্রত্যেকটি উঁচু পাহাড়ের উপরে ও প্রত্যেকটি ডালপালা ছড়ানো সবুজ গাছের নীচে উঁচু জায়গা ঠিক করেছিল এবং পবিত্র পাথর ও আশেরা খুঁটি স্থাপন করেছিল।
For they also built for themselves high places, stone pillars, and Asherah poles on every high hill and under every green tree.
24 ২৪ এমন কি, তাদের দেশে পুরুষ বেশ্যাও ছিল। যে জাতিগুলোকে সদাপ্রভু ইস্রায়েলীয়দের সামনে থেকে দূর করে দিয়েছিলেন তাদের সমস্ত ঘৃণার কাজ যিহূদার লোকেরা করতে লাগল।
There were also cultic prostitutes in the land. They did the same despicable practices as the nations that Yahweh had driven out before the people of Israel.
It happened in the fifth year of King Rehoboam that Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem.
26 ২৬ সে সদাপ্রভুর গৃহের সম্পত্তি ও রাজবাড়ির সম্পত্তি নিয়ে গেল; সব কিছুই নিয়ে গেল, এমন কি, শলোমনের তৈরী সোনার সব ঢালগুলোও নিয়ে গেল।
He took away the treasures in the house of Yahweh, and the treasures in the king's house. He took everything away; he also took all the shields of gold that Solomon had made.
27 ২৭ কাজেই রাজা রহবিয়াম সেগুলোর বদলে পিতলের ঢাল তৈরী করালেন। রাজবাড়ীর দরজায় যে সব সৈন্যেরা পাহারা দিত তাদের সেনাপতিদের কাছে তিনি সেগুলো রক্ষা করবার ভার দিলেন।
King Rehoboam made shields of bronze in their place and entrusted them into the hands of the commanders of the guard, who guarded the doors to the king's house.
28 ২৮ রাজা যখন সদাপ্রভুর ঘরে যেতেন তখন পাহারাদার সৈন্যেরা সেই ঢালগুলো ধরে নিয়ে তাঁর সঙ্গে যেত এবং পরে সেগুলো তারা পাহারাদার দের ঘরে জমা দিত।
It happened that whenever the king entered the house of Yahweh, the guards would carry them; then they would bring them back into the guardhouse.
29 ২৯ রহবিয়ামের অন্যান্য কাজ, অর্থাৎ তিনি যা কিছু করেছিলেন তা সব “যিহূদার রাজাদের ইতিহাস” নামে বইটিতে কি লেখা নেই?
As for the other matters concerning Rehoboam, and all that he did, are they not written in the book of the events of the kings of Judah?
There was constant warfare between Rehoboam and Jeroboam.
31 ৩১ পরে রহবিয়াম নিজের পূর্বপুরুষদের সঙ্গে নিদ্রিত হলেন এবং দায়ূদ শহরে কবর প্রাপ্ত হলেন। তাঁর মায়ের নাম ছিল নয়মা; তিনি অম্মোনীয়া। পরে তাঁর ছেলে অবিয়াম তাঁর জায়গায় রাজা হলেন।
So Rehoboam slept with his ancestors and was buried with them in the city of David. His mother's name was Naamah the Ammonite woman. Abijah his son became king in his place.
