বংশাবলির প্রথম খণ্ড 20

1 ১ বসন্তকালে যখন রাজারা সাধারণত: যুদ্ধ করতে বের হন তখন যোয়াব সৈন্যদল নিয়ে বের হলেন। তিনি অম্মোনীয়দের দেশটাকে ধ্বংস করে দিয়ে রব্বাতে গিয়ে সেটা ঘেরাও করলেন। দায়ূদ কিন্তু যিরূশালেমেই রয়ে গেলেন। যোয়াব রব্বা আক্রমণ করে সেটা ধ্বংস করে দিলেন।

And when the yere was expired, in the time that Kings goe out a warfare, Ioab caryed out the strength of the armie, and destroyed the countrey of the children of Ammon, and came and besieged Rabbah (but Dauid taryed at Ierusalem) and Ioab smote Rabbah and destroyed it.

2 ২ দায়ূদ সেখানকার রাজার মাথা থেকে মুকুটটা খুলে নিলেন। সেটা প্রায় চৌত্রিশ কেজি সোনা দিয়ে তৈরী ছিল, আর তাতে দামী পাথর বসানো ছিল। মুকুটটা দায়ূদের মাথায় পরিয়ে দেওয়া হল। দায়ূদ সেই শহর থেকে অনেক লুটের মাল নিয়ে আসলেন।

Then Dauid tooke the crowne of their King from off his head, and founde it the weight of a talent of golde, with precious stones in it: and it was set on Dauids head, and he brought away the spoyle of the citie exceeding much.

3 ৩ তিনি শহরের লোকদের বের করে আনলেন এবং করাত, লোহার মই ও কুড়ুল দিয়ে তাদের কেটে ফেললেন। অম্মোনীয়দের সমস্ত শহরেও তিনি তাই করলেন। এর পর দায়ূদ তাঁর সমস্ত সৈন্যদল নিয়ে যিরূশালেমে ফিরে গেলেন।

And he caryed away the people that were in it, and cut them with sawes, and with harowes of yron, and with axes: euen thus did Dauid with all the cities of the children of Ammon. Then Dauid and all the people came againe to Ierusalem.

4 ৪ পরে গেষরে পলেষ্টীয়দের সঙ্গে যুদ্ধ আরম্ভ হল। সেই দিন হূশাতীয় সিব্বখয় রফায়ীয়দের বংশের সিপ্পয় নামে এক জনকে মেরে ফেলল, আর এতে পলেষ্টীয়েরা হেরে গেল।

And after this also there arose warre at Gezer with the Philistims: then Sibbechai the Hushathite slewe Sippai, of the children of Haraphah, and they were subdued.

5 ৫ পলেষ্টীয়দের সঙ্গে আর একটা যুদ্ধে যায়ীরের ছেলে ইলহানন গাতীয় গলিয়াতের ভাই লহমিকে মেরে ফেলল। তার বর্শাটা ছিল তাঁতীদের বীমের মত।

And there was yet another battell with the Philistims: and Elhanan the sonne of Iair slewe Lahmi, the brother of Goliath the Gittite, whose spearestaffe was like a weauers beame.

6 ৬ গাতে আর একটা যুদ্ধ হয়েছিল। সেই যুদ্ধে একজন লম্বা চওড়া লোক ছিল যার দুই হাতে ও দুই পায়ে ছয়টা করে মোট চব্বিশটা আঙ্গুল ছিল। সেও ছিল একজন রফায়ীয়ের বংশধর।

And yet againe there was a battel at Gath, where was a man of a great stature, and his fingers were by sixes, euen foure and twentie, and was also the sonne of Haraphah.

7 ৭ সে যখন ইস্রায়েল জাতিকে টিট্‌কারি দিল তখন দায়ূদের ভাই শিমিয়ের ছেলে যোনাথন তাকে মেরে ফেলল।

And when he reuiled Israel, Iehonathan the sonne of Shimea Dauids brother did slay him.

8 ৮ গাতের এই লোকেরা ছিল রফার বংশের লোক। দায়ূদ ও তাঁর লোকদের হাতে এরা মারা পড়েছিল।

These were borne vnto Haraphah at Gath, and fell by the hand of Dauid: and by the hands of his seruants.
