1 Eta iragaiten cela Iesusec ikus ceçan guiçon sortzetic itsubat.
And, passing along, he saw a man, blind from birth.
2 Eta interroga ceçaten bere discipuluéc. erraiten cutela. Magistruá, Ceinec bekatu eguin du, hunec ala hunen aitaméc, hunela itsu sor ledin?
And his disciples questioned him, saying—Rabbi! who sinned, this man or his parents, that, blind, he should be born?
3 Ihardets ceçan Iesusec, Ez hunec bekatu eguin du, ez hunen aitaméc: baina itsu iayo da, Iaincoaren obrác manifesta litecençat hunetan.
Jesus answered—Neither, this man, sinned nor his parents; but…that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
4 Ni igorri nauenaren obrác eguin behar ditut, eguna deno: badatorque gaua noiz nehorc ecin obraric baitaidi.
We must needs be working the works of him that sent me, while it is, day: There cometh a night, when, no one, can work.
5 Munduan naiceno, munduaren Arguia naiz.
Whensoever I may be, in the world, I am, the light, of the world.
6 Haur erran çuenean thu eguin ceçan lurrera, eta eguin ceçan lohi thutic, eta lohi harçaz frota citzan itsuaren beguiac:
These things, having said, he spat on the ground, and made clay with the spittle, and laid the clay upon his eyes;
7 Eta erran cieçon, Oha garbitzera Siloe, igorria erran nahi deneco ikuzgarrira. Ioan cedin bada, eta garbi cedin, eta itzul cedin ikusten çuela.
and said unto him—Withdraw! wash in the pool of Siloam, —which is to be translated, Sent. He went away, therefore, and washed, and came, seeing.
8 Bada auçoéc, eta lehen ikussi çutenéc ecen itsu cela, erraiten çutén, Ezta haur iarriric ohi cegoena eta escatzen cena?
The neighbours, therefore, and they who used to observe him aforetime—that he was, a beggar, were saying—Is not, this, he that used to sit and beg?
9 Batzuc erraiten çutén, Haur da: eta bercéc, Hura dirudi, Baina berac erraiten çuen, Ni naiz hura.
Others, were saying—’Tis, the same. Others, were saying—Nay! but he is, like him. He, was saying—I, am he.
10 Erran cieçoten bada, Nolatan irequi içan dirade hire beguiac?
So they were saying unto him—How [then] were thine eyes opened?
11 Ihardets ceçan harc, eta erran ceçan, Iesus deitzen den guiconac lohi eguin du, eta frotatu ditu ene beguiac, eta erran draut, Oha Siloeco ikuzgarrira, eta garbi adi. Bada ioanic eta garbituric ikustea recebitu dut.
He, answered—The man that is called Jesus, made, clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me: Withdraw unto the pool of Siloam, and wash. Going away, therefore, and washing, I received sight.
12 Orduan erran cieçoten, Non da hura? Dio, Eztaquit.
And they said unto him—Where is, He? He saith—I know not.
13 Eramaiten dute itsu ohi cen hura Phariseuetara.
They bring him unto the Pharisees—him at one time blind.
14 Eta cen Sabbathoa Iesusec lohia eguin çuenean eta haren beguiac irequi cituenean.
Now it was Sabbath, on the day when Jesus made, the clay, and opened his eyes.
15 Berriz bada interroga ceçaten hura Phariseuéc-ere nolatan ikustea recebitu çuen. Eta harc erran ciecén, Lohi eçarri vkan draut neure beguién gainera, eta garbitu naiz, eta ikusten dut.
Again, therefore, the Pharisees also questioned him, as to how he received sight. And, he, said unto them—Clay, laid he upon mine eyes, and I washed, —and do see.
16 Erraiten çuten bada Phariseuetaric batzuc, Guiçon haur ezta Iaincoaganic: ecen Sabbathoa eztu beguiratzen. Bercéc erraiten çuten, Nolatan guiçon vicitze gaichtotaco batec sign hauc eguin ahal ditzaque? Eta dissensione cen hayén artean.
Certain from among the Pharisees, therefore, were saying—This man is not, from God, because, the Sabbath, he keepeth not. Others, [however] were saying—How can a sinful man, such signs as these, be doing? And there was, a division, among them.
17 Erraiten draucate itsuari berriz, Hic cer dioc harçaz, ceren beguiac irequi drauzquian? Eta harc erran ceçan, Propheta dela.
So they were saying unto the blind man, again, What dost, thou, say concerning him, in that he opened thine eyes? And, he, said—A prophet, is he.
18 Baina etzeçaten sinhets Iuduéc harçaz, ecen itsu içan cela, eta ikustea recebitu çuela, ikustea recebitu çuenaren aitamác dei litzaqueteno:
The Jews, therefore, did not believe, concerning him, that he was blind, and received sight, —until they called the parents of him that had received sight,
19 Eta interroga citzaten hec, cioitela, Haur da çuen seme çuec itsu iayo cela dioçuena? nolatan bada orain dacussa?
and questioned them, saying—Is, this, your son, of whom, ye, say, that blind, he was, born? How, then, seeth he, even now?
20 Ihardets ciecén haren aitaméc, eta erran ceçaten, Badaquigu ecen haur dela gure semea, eta itsu iayo içan dela:
His parents, therefore, answered, and said—We know that, this, is our son, and that, blind, he was born;
But, how he now seeth, we know not, or, who opened his eyes, we, know not, —Question, him, he is, of age, he, concerning himself, shall speak.
22 Gauça hauc erran citzaten haren aitaméc, ceren beldur baitziraden Iuduén: ecen ia ordenatu çuten Iuduéc, baldin nehorc aithor baleça hura licela Christ, synagogatic iraitz ledin.
These things, said his parents, because they were in fear of the Jews, —for, already, had the Jews agreed together, that, if anyone should confess, him, to be Christ, an, excommunicant from the synagogue, should he be made.
23 Halacotz haren aitaméc erran ceçaten, Adin du, bera interroga eçaçue.
For this cause, his parents said—He is, of age, —question him.
24 Dei ceçaten bada bigarren aldian guiçon itsu içana, eta erran cieçoten, Emóc gloria Iaincoari: guc bacequiagu ecen guiçon hori gaichtoa dela.
So they called the man a second time—[him] who had been blind, and said unto him—Give glory unto God! We know that, this man, is, a sinner.
25 Ihardets ceçan bada harc, eta erran ceçan, Gaichto denez eztaquit: gauçabat badaquit, ecen itsu nincelaric orain badacussadala.
He, therefore, answered—Whether he is a sinner, I know not: One thing, I know, —That, whereas I was, blind, now, I see!
26 Eta erran cieçoten berriz, Cer eguin drauc? nolatan irequi ditu hire beguiac?
They said, therefore, unto him—What did he unto thee? How opened he thine eyes?
27 Ihardets ciecén, Ia erran drauçuet, eta eztuçue ençun: cergatic berriz ençun nahi duçue? ala çuec-ere haren discipulu eguin nahi çarete?
He answered them—I told you just now, and ye did not hear: Why, again, do ye wish to hear? Are, ye also, wishing to become, his disciples?
28 Orduan iniuria ceçaten hura, eta erran ceçaten, Aicén hi haren discipulu: guçaz den becembatean, Moysesen discipulu gaituc.
And they reviled him, and said—Thou, art, the disciple, of that man; but, we, are, Moses’, disciples: —
29 Guc baceaquiagu ecen Moysesi minçatu içan çayola Iaincoa: baina haur nondic den etzeaquiagu.
We, know, that, unto Moses, hath God spoken; but, as for this man, we know not whence he is.
30 Ihardets ceçan guiçonac eta erran ciecén, Segur, hunetan da miraculua, ceren çuec ezpaitaquiçue nondic den, eta irequi baititu ene beguiac.
The man answered, and said unto them—Why! Herein, is, the marvel: That, ye, know not whence he is, and yet he opened mine eyes.
31 Eta badaquigu ecen Iaincoac vicitze gaichtotacoac eztituela ençuten: baina baldin norbeit Iaincoaren cerbitzari bada, eta haren vorondatea eguiten badu, hura ençuten du.
We know that, God, unto sinners, doth not hearken: but, if one be, a worshipper of God, and be doing, his will, unto this one, he hearkeneth.
Out of age-past time, hath it never been heard, that anyone opened the eyes of one who, blind, had been born. (aiōn g165)
33 Baldin ezpaliz haur Iaincoaganic, deus ecin laidi.
If this man were not from God, he could have done nothing.
34 Ihardets ceçaten eta erran cieçoten, Hi bekatutan sorthua aiz guciori, eta hic iracasten gaituc gu? Eta iraitz ceçaten hura campora.
They answered and said unto him—In sins, wast, thou, born, altogether; and art, thou, teaching, us? And they cast him out.
35 Ençun ceçan Iesusec nola egotzi vkan çuten hura campora: eta eriden çuenean hura, erran cieçón, Sinhesten duc hic Iaincoaren Semea baithan?
Jesus heard that they had cast him out: and, finding him, said—Dost, thou, believe on the son of Man?
36 Ihardets ceçan harc eta erran ceçan, Eta nor da, Iauna, sinhets deçadan hura baithan?
He answered [and said]—And, who, is he, Sir, that I may believe on him?
37 Eta erran cieçon Iesusec, Eta ikussi duc hura, eta hirequin minço dena duc hura.
Jesus said unto him—Thou hast both seen him and, he that is speaking with thee, is, he.
38 Eta harc dio, Sinhesten diat, Iauna. Eta adora ceçan hura.
And, he, said—I believe, Sir! and worshipped him.
39 Eta erran ceçan Iesusec, Iugemendu eguitera ni mundu hunetara ethorri naiz: ikusten eztutenéc, ikus deçatençát: eta ikusten dutenac itsu ditecençat.
And Jesus said—For judgment, I, unto this world, came: that, they who were not seeing, might see, and, they who were seeing, might become, blind.
40 Eta ençun ceçaten hori, Phariseuetaric harequin ciraden batzuc, eta erran cieçoten, Ala gu-ere itsu gara?
They of the Pharisees who were with him, heard, these things, and said unto him—Are, we also, blind?
41 Erran ciecén Iesusec, Baldin itsu bacinete, etzinduqueite bekaturic: baina orain erraiten duçue, Badacussagu: beraz çuen bekatua badago.
Jesus said unto them—If, blind, ye had been, ye had not had sin; but, now, ye say, We see, your sin, abideth.
