< Joan 4 >

1 Bada eçagutu çuenean Iaunac nola ençun çuten Phariseuéc ecen Iesusec discipulu guehiago eguiten çuela eta batheyatzen, ecen ez Ioannesec:
And Jesus knew, that the Pharisees had heard; that he made many disciples, and baptized more than John.
2 (Iesus bera batheyatzen ari ezpacen-ere, baina haren discipuluac)
Yet Jesus himself did not baptize but his disciples.
3 Vtzi ceçan Iudea, eta ioan cedin berriz Galilearát.
And he left Judaea, and went again into Galilee.
4 Eta harc behar çuen iragan Samariatic.
And in going, he had occasion to pass through the midst of the Samaritans.
5 Ethorten da bada Samariaco hiri Sichar deitzen den batetara cein baita Iacob-ec bere seme Iosephi eman ceraucan possessionearen aldean.
And he came to a city of the Samaritans called Sychar, near the field which Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
6 Eta cen han Iacob-en ithurria: Iesus bada bidean vnhatua berehala iar cedin ithur bazterrean: ecen bacén sey orenén inguruä.
And Jacob's well of water was there. And Jesus was weary with the toil of travelling, and seated himself by the well: and it was at the sixth hour.
7 Ethor cedin emazte Samaritanabat vr idoquitera: erran cieçón hari Iesusec, Indan edatera.
And a woman from Samaria came to draw water. And Jesus said to her: Give me water to drink.
8 Ecen haren discipuluac ioan içan ciraden hirira iateco erostera.
And his disciples had gone to the city, to buy themselves food.
9 Diotsa bada hari emazte Samaritana hunec, Nola hi Iudu aicelaric, edatera niri esquez aut, bainaiz emazte Samaritana? ecen eztié conuersationeric Iuduéc Samaritanoequin.
The Samaritan woman said to him: How dost thou, a Jew, ask drink of me, who am a Samaritan woman? For the Jews have no familiarity with Samaritans.
10 Ihardets ceçan Iesusec eta erran cieçon, Baldin bahaqui Iaincoaren dohaina, eta nor den hiri erraiten draunana, Indan edatera, hi escatu inçayqueon hari, eta eman baitzerauquenán vr vicitic.
Jesus replied and said to her: If thou hadst known the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink, thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living waters.
11 Diotsa emazteac, Iauna, eztuc cerçaz idoqui deçán, eta putzua duc barna: nondic duc beraz vr vici hori?
The woman said to him: My lord, thou hast no bucket, and the well is deep.; how hast thou living waters?
12 Ala gure aita Iacob baino handiago aiz hi, ceinec eman baitraucu putzu haur, eta berac hunetaric edan baitu, eta haren haourréc, eta haren abréc?
Art thou greater than our father Jacob, who gave us this well, and drank from it himself, and his children, and his flocks?
13 Ihardets ceçan Iesusec eta erran cieçon, Vr hunetaric edaten duen gucia egarrituren dun berriz:
Jesus replied and said to her: Whoever shall drink of these waters, will thirst again;
14 Baina norc-ere edanen baitu nic emanen draucadan vretic, eztun egarrituren seculan: baina nic emanen draucadan vra, eguinen dun hura baithan vr iauzten denezco ithurri, vicitze eternalecotzat. (aiōn g165, aiōnios g166)
but whoever shall drink of the waters which I shall give him, will not thirst for ever; but the waters, which I shall give him, will be in him a fountain of waters, springing up unto life eternal. (aiōn g165, aiōnios g166)
15 Diotsa emazteac, Iauna, indac vr horretaric, egarri eznadin, eta ethor eznadin huna idoquitera.
The woman said to him: My lord, give me of these waters, that I may not thirst again, and may not come to draw from here.
16 Diotsa Iesusec, Habil dei eçan eure senharra, eta athor huna.
Jesus said to her: Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
17 Ihardets ceçan emazteac eta erran cieçón, Eztiát senharric. Diotsa Iesusec, Vngui erran dun, Eztiát senharric.
She said to him: I have no husband. Jesus said to her: Thou hast well said, I have no husband;
18 Ecen borz senhar vkan ditun, eta orain dunana, eztun hire senhar: hori eguiaz erran dun.
for thou hast had five husbands, and he whom thou now hast, is not thy husband. In this thou didst speak truly.
19 Diotsa emazteac, Iauna, badiacussát ecen Propheta aicela hi.
The woman said to him: My lord, I perceive thou art a prophet.
20 Gure aitéc mendi hunetan adoratu vkan dié: eta çuec dioçue ecen Ierusalemen dela lekua non adoratu behar baita.
Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; but ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where it is proper to worship.
21 Diotsa Iesusec, Emazteá, sinhets neçan ni, ecen ethorten dela orena noiz ezpaituçue mendi hunetan ez Ierusalemen adoraturen Aita.
Jesus said to her: Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when neither in this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, ye will worship the Father.
22 Çuec adoratzen duçue eztaquiçuena, guc adoratzen dinagu daquiguna: ecen saluamendua Iuduetaric dun.
Ye worship, ye know not what; but we worship what we know; for life is from the Jews.
23 Baina ethorten dun orena, eta orain dun, noiz adoraçale eguiazcoéc adoraturen baitute Aita spirituz eta eguiaz: ecen Aita-ere halaco adoraçalén galdez diagon.
But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and in truth; for the Father requireth that worshippers be such.
24 Iaincoa dun Spiritu: eta hura adoratzen dutenéc, spirituz eta eguiaz adoratu behar diné.
For God is a Spirit; and they that worship him, should worship in spirit and in truth.
25 Diotsa emazteac, Baceaquiat ecen Messiasa ethorteco dela, Christ deitzen dena, harc dathorrenean declaraturen dirauzquiguc gauça guciac.
The woman said to him: I know that Messiah will come; and when he cometh, he will teach us every thing.
26 Diotsa Iesusec, Ni naun hura, hirequin minço naicena.
Jesus said to her: I, who talk with thee, am he.
27 Eta bizquitartean ethor citecen haren discipuluac, eta mirets ceçaten nola emazte batequin minço cen: badaric-ere nehorc etzieçón erran, Ceren galdez ago? edo, Cer minço aiz horrequin?
And while he was speaking, his disciples came. And they wondered that he would converse with the woman; yet no one said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her?
28 Vtzi ceçan bada bere vncia emazteac, eta ioan cedin hirira, eta erran ciecén leku hartaco gendey.
And the woman left her water-pot, and went to the city, and said to the people:
29 Çatozte, ikussaçue guiçon-bat ceinec erran baitrauzquit eguin ditudan gauça guciac: ezta haur Christ?
Come, see a man that told me every thing I ever did: is not this the Messiah?
30 Ilki citecen bada hiritic, eta ethor citecen harengana.
And the people went out of the city, and came to him.
31 Eta bizquitartean othoitz eguiten ceraucaten discipuluéc, cioitela, Magistrua, ian eçac.
In the mean time, his disciples entreated him, and said to him: Our Rabbi, eat.
32 Baina harc erran ciecén, Nic viandabat dut iateco, çuec eztaquiçuenic.
But he said to them: I have food to eat, of which ye are ignorant.
33 Erraiten çuten bada discipuluéc elkarren artean, Nehorc ekarri othe drauca iatera?
The disciples said among themselves: Hath any one brought him something to eat?
34 Dioste Iesusec, Ene viandá da eguin deçadan ni igorri nauenaren vorondatea, eta acaba deçadan haren obrá.
Jesus said to them: My food is to do the pleasure of him that sent me, and to accomplish his work.
35 Eztuçue çuec erraiten, Oraino laur hilebethe dirade, eta vztá ethorriren da? Huná, erraiten drauçuet, goititzaçue çuen beguiac, miraitzaçue bazterrac, ecen ia churitu dirade vztaren biltzeco.
Do ye not say, that after four months cometh the harvest? Behold, I say to you, and lift up your eyes, and look upon the grounds, that they are white, and have already come to the harvest.
36 Eta vztá biltzen duenac, sari recebitzen du, eta biltzen du fructua vicitze eternaleracotzát: ereiten duenac bozcario duençát, bayeta biltzen duenac-ere. (aiōnios g166)
And he that reapeth, receiveth wages, and gathereth fruits unto life eternal; and the sower and the reaper equally rejoice. (aiōnios g166)
37 Ecen hunetan erran haur eguiazco da, Bat da ereiten duena, eta bercebat biltzen duena.
For in this, is the proverb true, that one is the sower, and another the reaper.
38 Nic igorri çaituztet nekatu etzaretenaren biltzera: berceac nekatu içan dirade, eta çuec hayén trabailluan sarthu içan çarete.
I sent you to reap that, on which ye labored not: for others toiled, and ye entered into their labor.
39 Eta hiri hartaco Samaritanoetaric anhitzec sinhets ceçaten hura baithan, emazte testificatu çuenaren erranagatic, cioela, Eguin dudan gucia erran draut.
And many Samaritans of that city believed on him, because of the discourse of the woman, who testified, He told me all that I ever did.
40 Ethorri ciradenean bada Samaritanoac, othoitz eguin cieçoten hequin egon ledin: eta egon cedin han bi egun.
And when these Samaritans came to him, they requested him to tarry with them; and he remained with them two days.
41 Eta anhitzez guehiagoc sinhets ceçaten beraren hitzagatic.
And many believed on him, because of his discourse.
42 Eta emazteari erraiten ceraucaten, Eztinagu goitiric hire erranagatic sinhesten: ecen gueuroc ençun dinagu, eta baceaquinagu ecen haur dela eguiazqui Christ munduaren Saluadorea.
And they said to the woman: Henceforth we believe in him, not on account of thy word; for we have heard him ourselves, and we know that he truly is the Messiah, the Life-Giver of the world.
43 Eta bi egunen buruän parti cedin handic, eta ioan cedin Galilearát.
And after two days Jesus departed from there and went into Galilee.
44 Ecen Iesusec berac testifica ceçan, ecen Propheta batec bere herrian ohoreric eztuela.
For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet is not honored in his own city.
45 Bada ethorri içan cenean Galileara, recebi ceçaten Galileanoec, bestán Ierusalemen eguin cituen gauça guciac ikussiric: ecen hec-ere ethorri içan ciraden bestara.
And when he came to Galilee, the Galileans received him, having seen all the signs which he wrought in Jerusalem at the feast, for they too had gone to the feast.
46 Ethor cedin bada Iesus berriz Cana Galileaco hirira, non eguin vkan baitzuen vra mahatsarno. Eta cen gorte iaun-bat, ceinen semea baitzén eri Capernaumen.
And Jesus came again to Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was at Capernaum a king's servant, whose son was sick.
47 Haur, encunic ecen Iesus ethorri cela Iudeatic Galileara, ioan cedin harengana, eta othoitz eguin cieçon iauts ledin, eta senda lieçón bere semea: ecen hiltzera cioan.
He heard that Jesus had come from Judaea to Galilee; and he went to him, and besought him that he would come down and heal his son; for he was near dying.
48 Erran cieçón orduan Iesusec, Signoac eta miraculuac ikus ezpaditzaçue, ezteçaqueçue sinhets.
Jesus said to him: Unless ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.
49 Diotsa gorte iaun harc, Iauna, iautsi adi ene semea hil dadin baino lehen.
The king's servant said to him: My lord, come down, before the child dieth.
50 Diotsa Iesusec, Habil: hire semea vici duc. Eta sinhets ceçan guiçonac Iesusec erran ceraucan hitza eta ioan cedin.
Jesus said to him: Go, thy son liveth. And the man believed the word which Jesus spake to him, and went away.
51 Eta ia hura iausten cela bere cerbitzariac bat cequizquion, eta conta cieçoten, cioitela, Hire semea vici duc.
And as he was going down, his servants met him, and informed him and said to him: Thy son liveth.
52 Orduan galdeguin ciecén, cer orenez hobequi eriden içan cen: eta erran cieçoten, Atzo çazpi orenetan vtzi cian helgaitzac.
And he asked them, at what time he recovered. And they said to him: Yesterday, at the seventh hour the fever left him.
53 Eçagut ceçan bada aitác ecen oren hartan cela Iesusec erran ceraucana, Hire semea vici duc. Eta sinhets ceçan berac, eta haren etche guciac.
And his father knew, that it was at the hour in which Jesus said to him, Thy son liveth. And he believed, and all his house.
54 Bigarren signo haur berriz eguin ceçan Iesusec ethorri içan cenean Iudeatic Galileara.
This again was the second sign that Jesus wrought, when he came from Judaea to Galilee.
