1 Qardaşlar, bixəbər olmağınızı istəmirəm ki, ata-babalarımızın hamısı bulud altında qorundu, hamısı da dənizdən keçdi.
BUT I would not that you should be ignorant, brethren, that our fathers were all under the cloud, and all passed through the sea;
2 Hamısı Musanın ardınca getmək üçün buludda və dənizdə vəftiz edildi.
and were all baptised unto Moses in the cloud and in the sea;
3 Hamısı eyni ruhani qida yedi
and did all eat the same spiritual meat;
4 və eyni ruhani içki içdi. Çünki onlar ardlarınca gələn ruhani Qayadan içirdi. O Qaya da Məsih idi.
and did all drink the same spiritual drink: for they drank of that spiritual rock which followed them; but that rock was Christ.
5 Amma Allah onların çoxundan razı qalmadı və cəsədləri çölə sərildi.
Nevertheless with the most of them God was not well pleased, for they were destroyed in the wilderness.
6 Bu hadisələr bizim üçün ibrət olsun deyə baş verdi ki, biz onlar kimi pisliyə meyl göstərməyək.
Now these things were examples for us, that we might not be coveters of evil things, as they also coveted.
7 Onlardan bəzisi kimi bütpərəst olmayın. Onlar barədə belə yazılıb: «Xalq oturub yeyib-içdi, sonra isə qalxıb oynaşdı».
Neither be ye idolaters as some of them; as it is written, “The people sat down to eat and drink, and rose up to sport themselves.”
8 Onlardan bəzisi kimi cinsi əxlaqsızlıq etməyək. Bir gündə onlardan iyirmi üç min nəfər öldü.
Neither let us commit whoredom, as some of them also committed, and in one day fell twenty-three thousand.
9 Məsihi sınamayaq: onlardan bəziləri belə etdi və ilanlar onları öldürdü.
Neither let us tempt Christ, as some of them also tempted, and were destroyed by serpents.
10 Deyinməyin, çünki onlardan da bəziləri deyindi və məhvedici mələk onları öldürdü.
Neither murmur ye, as some of them also murmured, and perished by the destroyer.
11 Bu hadisələr ibrət dərsi olub onların başına gəldi və bu dövrün sonuna çatan bizim üçün öyüd-nəsihət kimi yazılıb. (aiōn g165)
Now all these things happened unto them as examples, but they are written for our admonition, on whom the ends of the ages are come. (aiōn g165)
12 Buna görə də kim ayaq üstə durduğunu düşünürsə, ehtiyatlı olsun ki, yıxılmasın.
Wherefore let him that thinketh he standeth, take heed lest he fall.
13 Siz insanın qarşılaşdığı sınaqdan başqa bir sınaqla qarşılaşmadınız. Allah sadiqdir və O sizi gücünüzdən artıq sınağa çəkilməyə qoymaz. Sınaqla yanaşı bu vəziyyətdən çıxış yolu ilə də təmin edəcək ki, tab gətirə biləsiniz.
No temptation hath overtaken you, but what is common to men. And God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted beyond what ye are able to bear; but will with the temptation make also a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear up under it.
14 Beləliklə, ey sevimlilərim, bütpərəstlikdən uzaqlaşın.
Wherefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.
15 Mən ağıllı insanlara xitab edirəm. Dediklərimi siz özünüz araşdırın.
I speak as unto wise men: judge ye what I say.
16 Xeyir-dua verdiyimiz xeyir-dua kasası Məsihin qanına şəriklik deyilmi? Böldüyümüz çörək Məsihin bədəninə şəriklik deyilmi?
The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?
17 Çörək bir olduğu kimi biz də çox olduğumuz halda bir bədənik. Çünki hamımız bir çörəyi bölüb yeyirik.
For we, though many, are one loaf, one body; for we all partake of that one loaf.
18 Soy-kökünə görə İsrail xalqına nəzər salın: qurbanları yeyənlər qurbangaha şərik deyilmi?
Behold Israel after the flesh. Are not they who eat of the sacrifices partakers with the altar?
19 Belədirsə, mən nə demək istəyirəm? Bütlərə təqdim olunan qurban ətinin bir əhəmiyyəti varmı? Yaxud bütlərin əhəmiyyəti varmı?
What do I say then? that an idol is any thing, or that which is sacrificed to an idol is any thing?
20 Xeyr, amma deyirəm ki, bütpərəstlər qurbanlarını Allaha yox, cinlərə gətirirlər. Cinlərlə şərik olmanızı istəmirəm.
But that what the Gentiles sacrifice, they sacrifice to daemons, and not to God: and I would not have you in communion with daemons.
21 Siz həm Rəbbin kasasından, həm də cinlərin kasasından içə bilməzsiniz; həm Rəbbin, həm də cinlərin süfrəsindən yeyə bilməzsiniz.
Ye cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of daemons: ye cannot be partakers of the table of the Lord, and the table of daemons.
22 Yoxsa Rəbbi qısqanclığa vadar edirik? Məgər biz Ondan güclüyük?
Do we provoke the Lord to jealousy? are we stronger than he?
23 «Hər şeyə icazə var» deyirsiniz, amma hər şey xeyir vermir. «Hər şeyə icazə var», lakin hər şey ruhən inkişaf etdirmir.
All things are lawful for me, but all things are not profitable; all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not.
24 Hər kəs öz xeyrini yox, başqalarının xeyrini güdsün.
Let no man seek his own gratification, but every one another’s good.
25 Ət bazarında nə satılırsa, vicdan məsələsini qaldırmadan yeyin.
Every thing which is sold in the shambles eat, asking no question for conscience sake;
26 Çünki «Rəbbindir yer üzü və orada mövcud olanlar».
“for the earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof.”
27 Əgər imanlı olmayanlardan biri sizi yeməyə dəvət edir və siz getmək istəyirsinizsə, qabağınıza nə qoysalar, vicdan məsələsini qaldırmadan yeyin.
And if any one of those, who do not believe, invite you, and ye incline to go, eat every thing set before you, asking no question for conscience sake.
28 Amma biri sizə desə ki, «bu, qurban ətidir», onda həm sizə bunu deyənin xatirinə, həm də vicdan xatirinə yeməyin.
But if any person say unto you, This is an idol’s sacrifice, eat not of it, for his sake who pointed it out, and for conscience sake. For the earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof.
29 Mən sizin vicdanınızı yox, başqasının vicdanını nəzərdə tuturam. Axı nə üçün mənim azadlığım başqasının vicdanı ilə müəyyənləşdirilsin?
Conscience indeed I say, not merely thine own, but that of the other person.
30 Əgər şükür edərək yeməkdə iştirak edirəmsə, şükür etdiyim yeməyə görə nə üçün mənə şər atırlar?
For why is my liberty abridged by another’s conscience? If I truly with thanksgiving am a partaker, why am I evil spoken of for that for which I give thanks?
31 Beləliklə, nə yeyirsinizsə, nə içirsinizsə, nə edirsinizsə, hər şeyi Allahın izzəti üçün edin.
Whether therefore ye eat or drink, or whatsoever ye do, do all things to the glory of God.
32 Yəhudilərin, Yunanların yaxud Allahın cəmiyyətinin büdrəməsinə səbəb olmayın,
Give no occasion of stumbling either to the Jews or the Gentiles, or the church of God:
33 necə ki mən də hər şeydə hər kəsi razı salmağa çalışıram. Bunu öz xeyrim üçün yox, çoxlarının xeyri üçün edirəm ki, onlar da xilas olsunlar.
even as I please all men, not seeking my own advantage, but that of the many, that they may be saved.
