ՄԱՏԹԷՈՍ 14
1 Այն ժամանակ Հերովդէս չորրորդապետը լսեց Յիսուսի համբաւը եւ իր ծառաներին ասաց.
At that time Herod the Tetrarche heard of the fame of Iesus,
2 «Նա՛ է Յովհաննէս Մկրտիչը. մեռելներից յարութիւն է առել, եւ դրա համար նրա միջոցով զօրաւոր գործեր են լինում»:
And sayde vnto his seruaunts, This is that Iohn Baptist, hee is risen againe from the deade, and therefore great woorkes are wrought by him.
3 Արդարեւ Հերովդէսը ձերբակալել էր Յովհաննէսին, նրան կապել եւ բանտի մէջ էր դրել իր եղբօր՝ Փիլիպպոսի կնոջ՝ Հերովդիայի պատճառով.
For Herod had taken Iohn, and bounde him, and put him in prison for Herodias sake, his brother Philips wife.
4 որովհետեւ Յովհաննէսը նրան ասում էր. «Օրինաւոր չէ, որ դու նրան իբրեւ կին ունենաս»:
For Iohn saide vnto him, It is not lawfull for thee to haue her.
5 Եւ կամենում էր նրան սպանել, բայց վախենում էր ժողովրդից, քանի որ նրան որպէս մարգարէ էին ընդունում:
And when hee woulde haue put him to death, hee feared the multitude, because they counted him as a Prophet.
6 Եւ երբ Հերովդէսի ծննդեան տարեդարձը հասաւ, Հերովդիայի դուստրը հրաւիրեալների առաջ պարեց. եւ հաճելի թուաց Հերովդէսին.
But when Herods birth day was kept, the daughter of Herodias daunced before them, and pleased Herod.
7 ուստի եւ՝ նա երդումով խոստացաւ նրան տալ, ինչ էլ որ ուզի:
Wherefore he promised with an othe, that he would giue her whatsoeuer she would aske.
8 Եւ նա, առաջուց խրատուած լինելով իր մօրից, ասաց. «Տո՛ւր ինձ այստեղ, սկուտեղի վրայ, Յովհաննէս Մկրտչի գլուխը»:
And shee being before instructed of her mother, sayde, Giue mee here Iohn Baptists head in a platter.
9 Եւ թագաւորը տխրեց, բայց երդման եւ սեղանակիցների պատճառով հրամայեց նրան տալ այդ:
And the King was sorie: neuerthelesse because of the othe, and them that sate with him at the table, he commanded it to be giuen her,
10 Եւ մարդ ուղարկեց, գլխատել տուեց Յովհաննէսին բանտի մէջ:
And sent, and beheaded Iohn in the prison.
11 Եւ նրա գլուխը բերուեց սկուտեղով ու տրուեց աղջկան: Եւ սա տարաւ այն իր մօրը:
And his head was brought in a platter, and giuen to the maide, and shee brought it vnto her mother.
12 Իսկ Յովհաննէսի աշակերտները եկան վերցրին մարմինը եւ թաղեցին. եւ եկան պատմեցին Յիսուսին:
And his disciples came, and tooke vp the bodie, and buried it, and went, and tolde Iesus.
13 Երբ Յիսուս այդ լսեց, այնտեղից նաւակով առանձին գնաց մի ամայի տեղ: Երբ ժողովրդի բազմութիւնը լսեց այս, քաղաքներից հետիոտն նրա յետեւից գնաց:
And when Iesus heard it, hee departed thence by shippe into a desert place apart. And when the multitude had heard it, they followed him on foote out of the cities.
14 Եւ երբ նա ցամաք ելաւ, տեսաւ բազում ժողովուրդ, գթաց նրանց եւ բժշկեց նրանց հիւանդներին:
And Iesus went foorth and sawe a great multitude, and was mooued with compassion toward them, and he healed their sicke.
15 Երեկոյեան դէմ, աշակերտները մօտեցան նրան եւ ասացին. «Այս տեղը ամայի է, եւ օրը տարաժամել է. արձակի՛ր այդ ժողովրդի բազմութիւնը, որպէսզի գնայ շրջակայ գիւղերը իր համար ուտելիք գնի»:
And when euen was come, his disciples came to him, saying, This is a desart place, and the time is alreadie past: let the multitude depart, that they may goe into the townes, and bye them vitailes.
16 Եւ Յիսուս ասաց. «Հարկ չկայ, որ նրանք գնան, դո՛ւք նրանց ուտելու բան տուէք»:
But Iesus saide to them, They haue no neede to goe away: giue yee them to eate.
17 Եւ նրանք ասացին նրան. «Այստեղ ուրիշ բան չունենք, բացի հինգ նկանակից եւ երկու ձկից»:
Then saide they vnto him, Wee haue here but fiue loaues, and two fishes.
18 Եւ նրանց ասաց. «Այստե՛ղ բերէք այդ»:
And he saide, Bring them hither to me.
19 Եւ հրամայեց ժողովրդի բազմութիւնը նստեցնել խոտի վրայ. եւ վերցնելով հինգ նկանակն ու երկու ձկները՝ նայեց դէպի երկինք, օրհնեց, կտրեց եւ նկանակները աշակերտներին տուեց. իսկ աշակերտները՝ ժողովրդին:
And hee commanded the multitude to sit downe on the grasse, and tooke the fiue loaues and the two fishes, and looked vp to heauen and blessed, and brake, and gaue the loaues to his disciples, and the disciples to the multitude.
20 Բոլորը կերան ու յագեցան: Եւ տասներկու սակառ լիքը կտորտանքների մնացորդներ վերցրին:
And they did all eate, and were sufficed, and they tooke vp of the fragments that remained, twelue baskets full.
21 Եւ նրանք, որ կերան, մօտ հինգ հազար հոգի էին՝ չհաշուած կանանց եւ երեխաներին:
And they that had eaten, were about fiue thousande men, beside women and litle children.
22 Եւ նա իսկոյն իր աշակերտներին ստիպեց նաւակ մտնել եւ առաջանալ դէպի միւս կողմը, մինչեւ որ ինքը ժողովրդի բազմութիւնն արձակի:
And straightway Iesus compelled his disciples to enter into a shippe, and to goe ouer before him, while he sent the multitude away.
23 Եւ երբ ժողովրդի բազմութիւնն արձակեց, առանձին լեռ բարձրացաւ աղօթելու համար: Եւ երբ երեկոյ եղաւ, այնտեղ էր, մենակ:
And assoone as hee had sent the multitude away, he went vp into a moutaine alone to pray: and when the euening was come, hee was there alone.
24 Նաւակը ցամաքից մղոններով հեռացել էր՝ դէս ու դէն քշուելով ալիքներից, քանի որ քամին դիմացից էր:
And the shippe was nowe in the middes of the sea, and was tossed with waues: for it was a contrarie winde.
25 Եւ գիշերուայ ուշ ժամին Յիսուս եկաւ նրանց մօտ՝ քայլելով ծովի վրայ:
And in the fourth watch of the night, Iesus went vnto them, walking on the sea.
26 Երբ աշակերտները նրան տեսան ծովի վրայ քայլելիս, տագնապահար եղան եւ ասացին. «Ինչ-որ ուրուական է». ու սարսափից աղաղակեցին:
And when his disciples sawe him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a spirit, and cried out for feare.
27 Յիսուս իսկոյն խօսեց նրանց հետ ու ասաց. «Սրտապնդուեցէ՛ք, ես եմ, մի՛ վախեցէք»:
But straight way Iesus spake vnto them, saying, Be of good comfort, It is I: be not afraide.
28 Պետրոսը նրան պատասխանեց ու ասաց. «Տէ՛ր, եթէ դու ես, հրամայի՛ր ինձ ջրի վրայով քեզ մօտ գալ»:
Then Peter answered him, and saide, Master, if it be thou, bid me come vnto thee on the water.
29 Եւ նա ասաց՝ արի՛: Եւ Պետրոսը նաւակից իջնելով՝ քայլեց ջրի վրայով ու եկաւ Յիսուսի մօտ:
And he saide, Come. And when Peter was come downe out of the shippe, he walked on the water, to goe to Iesus.
30 Սակայն տեսնելով ուժգին քամին՝ վախեցաւ: Եւ երբ սկսեց սուզուել, աղաղակեց ու ասաց. «Տէ՛ր, փրկի՛ր ինձ»:
But when he sawe a mightie winde, he was afraide: and as he began to sinke, he cried, saying, Master, saue me.
31 Եւ իսկոյն Յիսուս երկարեց իր ձեռքը, բռնեց նրան ու ասաց. «Թերահաւա՛տ, ինչո՞ւ երկմտեցիր»:
So immediatly Iesus stretched foorth his hande, and caught him, and saide to him, O thou of litle faith, wherefore diddest thou doubt?
32 Եւ երբ նրանք նաւակ բարձրացան, քամին հանդարտուեց:
And assoone as they were come into the ship, the winde ceased.
33 Եւ նրանք, որ նաւակի մէջ էին, մօտեցան, երկրպագեցին նրան ու ասացին. «Արդարեւ Աստծու Որդին ես դու»:
Then they that were in the ship, came and worshipped him, saying, Of a trueth thou art the Sonne of God.
34 Եւ կտրել անցնելով՝ ցամաք ելան Գեննեսարէթում:
And when they were come ouer, they came into the land of Gennezaret.
35 Եւ երբ այդ տեղի մարդիկ նրան ճանաչեցին, մարդ ուղարկեցին ամբողջ գաւառով մէկ ու բոլոր հիւանդներին նրա մօտ բերեցին:
And when the men of that place knewe him, they sent out into all that countrey rounde about, and brought vnto him all that were sicke,
36 Եւ աղաչում էին նրան, որ գոնէ միայն նրա զգեստի քղանցքներին դիպչեն. եւ նրանք, որ մի անգամ դիպան, բժշկուեցին:
And besought him, that they might touch the hemme of his garment onely: and as many as touched it, were made whole.
