زَكَريّا 1

١ 1 فِي الشَّهْرِ الثَّامِنِ مِنَ السَّنَةِ الثَّانِيَةِ لِحُكْمِ دَارِيُّوسَ أَوْحَى الرَّبُّ بِهَذِهِ الْكَلِمَةِ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ زَكَرِيَّا بْنِ بَرَخِيَّا بْنِ عِدُّو قَائِلاً:

In the eighth month of the second year of Darius' reign, the word of Yahweh came to Zechariah son of Berechiah son of Iddo, the prophet, saying,

٢ 2 «لَقَدْ غَضِبَ الرَّبُّ أَشَدَّ الْغَضَبِ عَلَى آبَائِكُمْ.

“Yahweh was exceedingly angry with your fathers!

٣ 3 وَلَكِنْ قُلْ لَهُمْ، هَذَا مَا يُعْلِنُهُ الرَّبُّ الْقَدِيرُ: ارْجِعُوا إِلَيَّ فَأَرْجِعَ إِلَيْكُمْ، يَقُولُ الرَّبُّ الْقَدِيرُ.

Say to them, 'Yahweh of hosts says this: Turn to me!—this is the declaration of Yahweh of hosts— and I will return to you, says Yahweh of hosts.

٤ 4 وَلا تَكُونُوا كَآبَائِكُمُ الَّذِينَ نَادَاهُمُ الأَنْبِيَاءُ السَّالِفُونَ قَائِلِينَ: هَكَذَا يَقُولُ الرَّبُّ الْقَدِيرُ، ارْجِعُوا عَنْ طُرُقِكُمُ الْبَاطِلَةِ وَأَعْمَالِكُمُ الشِّرِّيرَةِ، وَلَكِنَّهُمْ لَمْ يَسْمَعُوا وَلَمْ يُصْغُوا إِلَيَّ، يَقُولُ الرَّبُّ.

Do not be like your fathers to whom the prophets cried out previously, saying, “Yahweh of hosts says this: Turn from your evil ways and wicked practices!” But they would not hear and did not pay attention to me—this is Yahweh's declaration.'

٥ 5 أَيْنَ هُمْ آبَاؤُكُمْ؟ وَهَلْ يَحْيَا الأَنْبِيَاءُ إِلَى الأَبَدِ؟

Your fathers, where are they? Where are the prophets, are they here forever?

٦ 6 وَلَكِنْ أَلَمْ تُدْرِكْ أَقْوَالِي وَفَرَائِضِي الَّتِي أَمَرْتُ بِها عَبِيدِي الأَنْبِيَاءَ آبَاءَكُمْ فَتَابُوا قَائِلِينَ: لَقَدْ نَفَّذَ الرَّبُّ الْقَدِيرُ مَا عَزَمَ أَنْ يُعَاقِبَنَا بِمُقْتَضَى مَا ارْتَكَبْنَاهُ مِنْ أَعْمَالٍ بَاطِلَةٍ؟»

But my words and my decrees that I commanded my servants the prophets, have they not overtaken your fathers? So they repented and said, 'Just as Yahweh of hosts planned to do to us what our ways and actions deserved, so he has dealt with us.'”

٧ 7 وَفِي الْيَوْمِ الرَّابِعِ وَالْعِشْرِينَ مِنَ الشَّهْرِ الْحَادِي عَشَرَ، أَيْ شَهْرِ شَبَاطَ الْعِبْرِيِّ، مِنَ السَّنَةِ الثَّانِيَةِ لِحُكْمِ دَارِيُّوسَ أَوْحَى الرَّبُّ بِهَذِهِ الْكَلِمَةِ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ زَكَرِيَّا بْنِ بَرَخِيَّا بْنِ عِدُّو قَائِلاً:

On the twenty-fourth day of the eleventh month, which is the month of Shebat, in the second year of Darius' reign, the word of Yahweh came to Zechariah son of Berechiah son of Iddo, the prophet, saying,

٨ 8 شَاهَدْتُ فِي رُؤْيَا اللَّيْلِ وَإذَا بِرَجُلٍ يَمْتَطِي فَرَساً أَحْمَرَ اللَّوْنِ يَقِفُ بَيْنَ أَشْجَارِ الآسِ الْمُتَوَارِيَةِ فِي الْوَادِي، وَخَلْفَهُ رِجَالٌ رَاكِبُونَ عَلَى خَيْلٍ حُمْرٍ وَشُقْرٍ وَبِيضٍ.

“I saw in the night, and, look! a man was riding on a red horse, and he was among the myrtle trees that are in the valley; and behind him there were red, reddish-brown, and white horses.”

٩ 9 فَسَأَلْتُ: «مَنْ هَؤُلاءِ يَا سَيِّدِي؟» فَأَجَابَنِي الْمَلاكُ الَّذِي كَلَّمَنِي: «أَنَا أُخْبِرُكَ مَنْ هَؤُلاءِ».

I said, “What are these things, Lord?” Then the angel who talked with me said to me, “I will show you what these things are.”

١٠ 10 قَالَ الْفَارِسُ الْوَاقِفُ بَيْنَ الآسِ: «هَؤُلاءِ هُمُ الَّذِينَ أَوْفَدَهُمُ الرَّبُّ لِيَجُولُوا فِي الأَرْضِ».

Then the man who stood among the myrtle trees answered and said, “These are those Yahweh has sent out to roam throughout the earth.”

١١ 11 عِنْدَئِذٍ قَالَ رَاكِبُو الْجِيَادِ لِلْمَلاكِ الْوَاقِفِ بَيْنَ الآسِ: «قَدْ جُلْنَا فِي الأَرْضِ، فَإِذَا بِها كُلِّهَا آمِنَةٌ مُطْمَئِنَّةٌ».

They answered the angel of Yahweh who stood among the myrtle trees; they said to him, “We have been roaming throughout the earth; see, all the earth sits still and is at rest.”

١٢ 12 فَقَالَ الْمَلاكُ: «إِلَى مَتَى أَيُّهَا الرَّبُّ الْقَدِيرُ لَا تُشْفِقُ عَلَى أُورُشَلِيمَ وَمُدُنِ يَهُوذَا الَّتِي سُخْطْتَ عَلَيْهَا طَوَالَ هَذِهِ السَّبْعِينَ سَنَةً؟»

Then the angel of Yahweh answered and said, “Yahweh of hosts, how long will you show no compassion to Jerusalem and to the cities of Judah, which you have been angry with these seventy years?”

١٣ 13 فَأَجَابَ الرَّبُّ الْمَلاكَ الَّذِي كَلَّمَنِي، بِعِبَارَاتٍ طَيِّبَةٍ مُعَزِّيَةٍ.

Yahweh answered the angel who had talked with me, with good words, words of comfort.

١٤ 14 ثُمَّ خَاطَبَنِي الْمَلاكُ قَائِلاً: «نَادِ، هَذَا مَا يَقُولُهُ الرَّبُّ الْقَدِيرُ: إِنِّي قَدْ غِرْتُ عَلَى أُورُشَلِيمَ وَعَلَى صِهْيَوْنَ غَيْرَةً عَظِيمَةً.

So the angel who had talked with me said to me, “Call out and say, 'Yahweh of hosts says this: I have been jealous for Jerusalem and for Zion with a great passion!

١٥ 15 وَلَكِنَّ غَضَبِي مُتَأَجِّجٌ عَلَى الأُمَمِ الْمُتَنَعِّمَةِ. لَقَدِ اغْتَظْتُ قَلِيلاً مِنْ شَعْبِي إِلّا أَنَّهُمْ زَادُوا مِنْ فَوَاجِعِهِمْ.

I am very angry with the nations that are at ease. When I was only a little angry with them, they made the disaster worse.

١٦ 16 لِذَلِكَ يَقُولُ الرَّبُّ سَأَرْجِعُ إِلَى أُورُشَلِيمَ بِفَيْضٍ مِنَ الْمَرَاحِمِ، فَيُبْنَى هَيْكَلِي فِيهَا وَتَعْمُرُ أُورُشَلِيمُ، يَقُولُ الرَّبُّ الْقَدِيرُ.

Therefore Yahweh of hosts says this: I have returned to Jerusalem with mercies. My house will be built within her —this is the declaration of Yahweh of hosts—and the measuring line will be stretched out over Jerusalem!'

١٧ 17 وَاهْتِفْ أَيْضاً قَائِلاً: هَذَا مَا يَقُولُهُ الرَّبُّ الْقَدِيرُ: سَتَفِيضُ مُدُنِي خَيْراً ثَانِيَةً، وَيَرْجِعُ الرَّبُّ فَيُعَزِّي صِهْيَوْنَ وَيَصْطَفِي أُورُشَلِيمَ».

Again call out, saying, 'Yahweh of hosts says this: My cities will once again overflow with goodness, and Yahweh will again comfort Zion, and he will once again choose Jerusalem.'”

١٨ 18 ثُمَّ رَفَعْتُ نَظَرِي وَإذَا بِي أَرَى أَرْبَعَةَ قُرُونٍ.

Then I lifted up my eyes and saw four horns!

١٩ 19 فَقُلْتُ لِلْمَلاكِ: «مَا هَذِهِ؟» فَأَجَابَ: «هَذِهِ هِيَ الْقُرُونُ الَّتِي بَدَّدَتْ أَهْلَ يَهُوذَا وَإِسْرَائِيلَ وَأُورُشَلِيمَ».

I spoke to the angel who talked with me, “What are these?” He answered me, “These are the horns that have scattered Judah, Israel, and Jerusalem.”

٢٠ 20 وَأَرَانِي الرَّبُّ أَرْبَعَةَ صُنَّاعٍ،

Then Yahweh showed me four craftsmen.

٢١ 21 فَسَأَلْتُ: «مَا الَّذِي جَاءَ يَفْعَلُهُ هَؤُلاءِ الرِّجَالُ؟» فَأَجَابَ: «هَذِهِ هِيَ الْقُرُونُ (أَيِ الأُمَمُ) الَّتِي بَدَّدَتْ أَهْلَ يَهُوذَا حَتَّى ذَلَّتْ كُلُّ نَفْسٍ. أَمَّا هَؤُلاءِ الصُّنَّاعُ فَقَدْ أَقْبَلُوا لِيُوْقِعُوا الرُّعْبَ فِي نُفُوسِ الأُمَمِ الَّتِي هَاجَمَتْ أَرْضَ يَهُوذَا لِيَطْرُدُوا أَهْلَهَا».

I said, “What are these people coming to do?” He answered, and said, “These are the horns that scattered Judah so that no man would lift up his head. But the blacksmiths have come to terrify them, to cast down the horns of the nations that lifted up a horn against the land of Judah to scatter her.”
