المَزامِير 106

١ 1 هَلِّلُويَا. قَدِّمُوا الشُّكْرَ لِلرَّبِّ فَإِنَّهُ صَالِحٌ، لأَنَّ رَحْمَتَهُ إِلَى الأَبَدِ تَدُومُ.

Praise ye Yah, Give ye thanks to Yahweh—For he is good, For age-abiding, is his lovingkindness.

٢ 2 مَنْ ذَا يُحَدِّثُ بِأَفْعَالِ الرَّبِّ الْجَبَّارَةِ، وَيُخْبِرُ بِكُلِّ تَسْبِيحِهِ؟

Who can relate the mighty deeds of Yahweh? can cause to be heard, all his praise?

٣ 3 طُوبَى لِلْعَامِلِينَ بِالْعَدْلِ وَالْبِرِّ فِي كُلِّ حِينٍ.

How happy! They who observe justice, He that executeth righteousness at all times.

٤ 4 يَا رَبُّ، اذْكُرْنِي فِي رِضَاكَ عَلَى شَعْبِكَ. تَعَهَّدْنِي بِخَلاصِكَ.

Remember me, O Yahweh, when thou acceptest thy people, Visit me, with thy salvation;

٥ 5 لِكَيْ أَشْهَدَ نَجَاحَ مُخْتَارِيكَ وَلأَفْرَحَ بِفَرَحِ أُمَّتِكَ، وَأَفْتَخِرَ مَعَ مِيرَاثِكَ.

That I may look upon the welfare of thy chosen ones, That I may rejoice in the joy of thy nation, That I may glory, with thine inheritance.

٦ 6 قَدْ أَخْطَأْنَا مَعَ آبَائِنَا وَارْتَكَبْنَا الإِثْمَ وَالشَّرَّ.

We have sinned—with our fathers, We have acted perversely, we have committed lawlessness;

٧ 7 لَمْ يَفْهَمْ آبَاؤُنَا فِي مِصْرَ عَجَائِبَكَ، وَلَمْ يَتَذَكَّرُوا وَفْرَةَ مَرَاحِمِكَ، بَلْ تَمَرَّدُوا عَلَيْكَ عِنْدَ الْبَحْرِ الأَحْمَرِ.

Our fathers, in Egypt, understood not thy wonders, They remembered not the abounding of thy lovingkindnesses, but rebelled by the sea—at the Red Sea.

٨ 8 لَكِنَّكَ خَلَّصْتَهُمْ مِنْ أَجْلِ اسْمِكَ إِعْلاناً لِقُوَّتِكَ الْعَظِيمَةِ.

Yet he saved them, for the sake of his Name, to make known his mighty power;

٩ 9 انْتَهَرْتَ الْبَحْرَ الأَحْمَرَ، فَجَفَّ، وَاجْتَزْتَ بِهِمْ عَبْرَ اللُّجَجِ كَأَنَّهُمْ عَلَى أَرْضٍ جَافَّةٍ

So he rebuked the Red Sea, and it dried up, And he led them through deeps, as pasture-land;

١٠ 10 أَنْقَذْتَهُمْ مِنْ يَدِ مُبْغِضِيهِمْ وَافْتَدَيْتَهُمْ مِنْ قَبْضَةِ الْعَدُوِّ.

And saved them from the hand of one full of hatred, And redeemed them out of the hand of the foe;

١١ 11 غَمَرَتِ الْمِيَاهُ مُطَارِدِيهِمْ حَتَّى لَمْ يَبْقَ مِنْهُمْ وَاحِدٌ.

So the waters covered their adversaries, Not one from among them, was left.

١٢ 12 عِنْدَئِذٍ آمَنُوا بِكَلامِهِ وَشَدُوا بِتَسْبِيحِهِ.

They believed therefore in his words, They sang his praise.

١٣ 13 وَلَكِنْ سَرْعَانَ مَا نَسُوا أَعْمَالَهُ! لَمْ يَنْتَظِرُوا مَشُورَتَهُ.

Soon forgat they his works, —They waited not for his counsel;

١٤ 14 بَلِ انْصَاعُوا لِشَهْوَتِهِمِ الشَّدِيدَةِ فِي الْبَرِّيَّةِ، وَتَحَدَّوْا اللهَ فِي الصَّحْرَاءِ.

But lusted a lust in the desert, and tested GOD in the waste.

١٥ 15 فَلَبَّى سُؤْلَهُمْ وَلَكِنَّهُ أَصَابَ نُفُوسَهُمْ بِالسُّقْمِ.

So he gave them their request, but sent leanness into their soul.

١٦ 16 ثُمَّ حَسَدُوا مُوسَى فِي الْمُخَيَّمِ، وَأَيْضاً هَارُونَ المُقَدَّسَ لِلرَّبِّ.

And they became jealous of Moses in the camp, —of Aaron the holy one of Yahweh;

١٧ 17 انْفَتَحَتِ الأَرْضُ وَابْتَلَعَتْ دَاثَانَ، وَأَطْبَقَتْ عَلَى قَوْمِ أَبِيرَامَ.

The earth opened and engulfed Dathan, and covered up the assembly of Abiram;

١٨ 18 وَاشْتَعَلَتْ نَارٌ وَسَطَ جَمَاعَةِ قُورَحَ، أَحْرَقَ لَهِيبُهَا الأَشْرَارَ.

Then was kindled a fire in their assembly, —a flame, consumed the lawless ones.

١٩ 19 صَاغُوا عِجْلاً فِي حُورِيبَ، وَسَجَدُوا لِتِمْثَالٍ مَسْبُوكٍ.

They made a calf in Horeb, —and bowed down to a molten image;

٢٠ 20 اسْتَبْدَلُوا إِلَهَهُمُ الْمَجِيدَ بِصُورَةِ ثَوْرٍ آكِلِ عُشْبٍ.

Thus changed they my glory, for the similitude of an ox that eateth grass.

٢١ 21 نَسُوا اللهَ مُخَلِّصَهُمُ الَّذِي صَنَعَ الْعَظَائِمَ فِي مِصْرَ،

They forgat GOD their saviour, who had done great things in Egypt:

٢٢ 22 الْمُعْجِزَاتِ فِي أَرْضِ حَامٍ، وَالآيَاتِ الْمُخِيفَةَ عِنْدَ الْبَحْرِ الأَحْمَرِ.

Wonders in the land of Ham, Terrible things by the Red Sea.

٢٣ 23 فَأَوْشَكَ أَنْ يُبِيدَهُمْ كَقَوْلِهِ، لَوْلَا أَنَّ مُوسَى مُخْتَارَهُ وَقَفَ فِي الثَّغْرَةِ أَمَامَهُ يَشْفَعُ فِيهِمْ لِيَرُدَّ غَضَبَهُ فَلَا يُهْلِكَهُمْ.

Then would he have bidden to destroy them, —had not Moses his chosen, stood in the breach before him, To turn back his wrath from destroying.

٢٤ 24 ثُمَّ اسْتَهَانُوا بِالأَرْضِ الشَّهِيَّةِ وَلَمْ يُصَدِّقُوا كَلامَ الرَّبِّ.

And they refused the delightful land, They believed not his word;

٢٥ 25 بَلْ تَذَمَّرُوا دَاخِلَ خِيَامِهِمْ، غَيْرَ مُنْصِتِينَ لِصَوْتِ الرَّبِّ.

But murmured in their tents, —They hearkened not unto the voice of Yahweh.

٢٦ 26 فَأَقْسَمَ أَنْ يُهْلِكَهُمْ فِي الْبَرِّيَّةِ،

So he lifted up his hand unto them, that he would let them fall in the desert;

٢٧ 27 يُسْقِطَ ذُرِّيَّتَهُمْ بَيْنَ الأُمَمِ، وَيُشَتِّتَهُمْ فِي البُلْدَانِ.

And would disperse their seed among the nations, and would scatter them throughout the lands.

٢٨ 28 وَتَعَلَّقُوا بِبَعْلِ فَغُورَ وَأَكَلُوا ذَبَائِحَ الْمَوْتَى.

Yet they let themselves be bound to Baal-peor, —and did eat sacrifices to the dead:

٢٩ 29 وَأَثَارُوا غَضَبَ الرَّبِّ بِأَعْمَالِهِمِ الشِّرِّيرَةِ، فَتَفَشَّى بَيْنَهُمْ وَبَأٌ مُفَاجِئٌ.

So they provoked to anger by their doings, and a plague, made a breach among them.

٣٠ 30 فَوَقَفَ فِينَحَاسُ وَأَجْرَى الْقَضَاءَ، فَامْتَنَعَ الْوَبَأُ.

Then stood up Phinehas, and interposed, and stayed was the plague:

٣١ 31 فَحُسِبَ لَهُ ذَلِكَ بِرّاً جِيلاً فَجِيلاً إِلَى الأَبَدِ.

So it was counted unto him, for righteousness, To generation after generation, unto times age abiding.

٣٢ 32 ثُمَّ أَسْخَطُوا الرَّبَّ عِنْدَ مِيَاهِ مَرِيبَةَ (أَي الْخُصُومَةِ) حَتَّى تَأَذَّى مُوسَى بِسَبَبِهِمْ،

And they provoked by the waters of Meribah, —And it fared ill with Moses, for their sakes;

٣٣ 33 إِذِ اسْتَفَزُّوا رُوحَهُ فَأَفْرَطَتْ شَفَتَاهُ بِالكَلامِ.

For they embittered his spirit, and he spake rashly with his lips.

٣٤ 34 لَمْ يَسْتَأْصِلُوا الشُّعُوبَ مِثْلَمَا أَمَرَهُمُ الرَّبُّ.

They destroyed not the peoples of which Yahweh had spoken to them;

٣٥ 35 بَلْ خَالَطُوا الأُمَمَ الْوَثَنِيَّةَ وَتَعَلَّمُوا أَعْمَالَهُمْ.

But had fellowship with the nations, and learned their doings;

٣٦ 36 تَعَبَّدُوا لأَوْثَانِهِمْ فَصَارَتْ لَهُمْ فَخّاً.

Yea they served their idols, and they became to them a snare:

٣٧ 37 ضَحَّوْا بِأَبْنَائِهِمْ وَبَنَاتِهِمْ لِلشَّيَاطِينِ.

Yea they sacrificed their sons and their daughters to mischievous demons;

٣٨ 38 سَفَكُوا دَماً بَرِيئاً، دَمَ بَنِيهِمْ وَبَنَاتِهِمِ الَّذِينَ ذَبَحُوهُمْ لأَصْنَامِ الْكَنْعَانِيِّينَ، فَتَدَنَّسَتِ الأَرْضُ بِالدِّمَاءِ.

And poured out innocent blood, the blood of their sons and their daughters, whom they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan, And the land was polluted with blood-shed;

٣٩ 39 لِذَلِكَ تَنَجَّسُوا بِأَعْمَالِهِمْ، وَخَانُوا الرَّبَّ بِأَفْعَالِهِمْ

And they became unclean by their works, and became unchaste in their doings.

٤٠ 40 فَالْتَهَبَ غَضَبُ الرَّبِّ عَلَى شَعْبِهِ، وَمَقَتَ مِيرَاثَهُ.

Then was kindled the anger of Yahweh with his people, and he abhorred his own inheritance.

٤١ 41 وَأَسْلَمَهُمْ إِلَى أَيْدِي الأُمَمِ، فَتَسَلَّطَ عَلَيْهِمْ مُبْغِضُوهُمْ.

So he delivered them up into the hand of the nations, And they who hated them, had dominion over them;

٤٢ 42 وَضَايَقَهُمْ أَعْدَاؤُهُمْ حَتَّى ذَلُّوا تَحْتَ أَيْدِيهِمْ.

And their enemies oppressed them, And they were bowed down under their hand.

٤٣ 43 مَرَّاتٍ كَثِيرَةً أَنْقَذَهُمْ، أَمَّا هُمْ فَعَصَوْهُ وَانْحَطُّوا فِي آثَامِهِمْ.

Many times, did he rescue them, —But, they, rebelled by their counsel, and sank low in their iniquity.

٤٤ 44 غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ الْتَفَتَ إِلَى ضِيقَتِهِمْ إِذْ سَمِعَ صُرَاخَهُمْ.

Then looked he on the distress which befell them, —when he heard their loud cry;

٤٥ 45 تَذَكَّرَ عَهْدَهُ لَهُمْ وَرَقَّ لَهُمْ حَسَبَ كَثْرَةِ رَحْمَتِهِ،

Then remembered he, for them, his covenant, and was moved to pity, according to the abounding of his lovingkindnesses;

٤٦ 46 فَأَنَالَهُمْ حُظْوَةً لَدَى جَمِيعِ آسِرِيهِمْ.

And granted them compassion before all their captors.

٤٧ 47 خَلِّصْنَا أَيُّهَا الرَّبُّ إِلَهُنَا، وَاجْمَعْ شَمْلَنَا مِنْ بَيْنِ الأُمَمِ لِنَرْفَعَ الشُّكْرَ لاسْمِكَ الْقُدُّوسِ وَنَفْتَخِرَ بِتَسْبِيحِكَ.

Save us, O Yahweh our God, and gather us from among the nations, That we may give thanks unto thy holy Name, That we may triumph aloud in thy praise.

٤٨ 48 مُبَارَكٌ الرَّبُّ إِلَهُ إِسْرَائِيلَ مِنَ الأَزَلِ إِلَى الأَبَدِ. وَلْيَقُلِ الشَّعْبُ كُلُّهُ: آمِين. هَلِّلُويَا.

Blessed be Yahweh, God of Israel, from one age even unto another, And all the people, shall say, Amen! Praise ye Yah!
