المَزامِير 10

١ 1 رَبُّ، لِمَاذَا تَقِفُ بَعِيداً وَتَحْتَجِبُ فِي أَزْمِنَةِ الضِّيقِ؟

Why stand you afar off, O Lord? [why] do you overlook [us] in times of need, in affliction?

٢ 2 الشِّرِّيرُ، بِعَجْرَفَةٍ، يَجِدُّ فِي تَعَقُّبِ الْمِسْكِينِ، غَيْرَ أَنَّ الأَشْرَارَ يَسْقُطُونَ فِي مُؤَامَرَتِهِمِ الَّتِي فَكَّرُوا فِيهَا.

While the ungodly one acts proudly, the poor is hotly pursued: [the wicked] are taken in the crafty counsels which they imagine.

٣ 3 الشِّرِّيرُ يَفْتَخِرُ بِشَهَوَاتِ نَفْسِهِ، وَالرَّجُلُ الطَّمَّاعُ يَلْعَنُ وَيُجَدِّفُ عَلَى اللهِ.

Because the sinner praises himself for the desires of his heart; and the unjust one blesses himself.

٤ 4 فِي تَكَبُّرِهِ وَتَشَامُخِهِ لَا يَلْتَمِسُ اللهَ، وَلَا مَكَانَ لِلهِ فِي أَفْكَارِهِ كُلِّهَا،

The sinner has provoked the Lord: according to the abundance of his pride he will not seek after [him]: God is not before him.

٥ 5 وَمَعْ ذَلِكَ فَإِنَّ مَسَاعِيَهُ تَبْدُو نَاجِحَةً، وَيَسْتَخِفُّ بِجَمِيعِ أَعْدَائِهِ. وَلَكِنَّ أَحْكَامَكَ عَالِيَةٌ أَسْمَى مِنْهُ

His ways are profane at all times; your judgements are removed from before him: he will gain the mastery over all his enemies.

٦ 6 قَالَ فِي نَفْسِهِ: «لَنْ يُزَحْزِحَنِي شَيْءٌ، وَلَنْ يَنَالَنِي مَكْرُوهٌ قَطُّ».

For he has said in his heart, I shall not be moved, [continuing] without evil from generation to generation.

٧ 7 فَمُهُ مَمْلُوءٌ لَعْنَةً وَغِشّاً وَظُلْماً. تَحْتَ لِسَانِهِ الأَذَى وَالإِثْمُ.

Whose mouth is full of cursing, and bitterness, and fraud: under his tongue are trouble and pain.

٨ 8 يَتَرَبَّصُ فِي كَمَائِنِ الدِّيَارِ لِيَقْتُلَ الْبَرِيءَ. عَيْنَاهُ تَتَرَصَّدَانِ الْمِسْكِينَ.

He lies in wait with rich [men] in secret places, in order to kill the innocent: his eyes are set against the poor.

٩ 9 يَكْمُنُ فِي الْخَفَاءِ، كَأَسَدٍ فِي عَرِينِهِ لِيَخْطِفَ الْمِسْكِينَ وَيَجُرَّهُ فِي شَبَكَتِهِ.

He lies in wait in secret as a lion in his den: he lies in wait to ravish the poor, to ravish the poor when he draws him [after him]: he will bring him down in his snare.

١٠ 10 يَسْحَقُ الْمَسَاكِينَ وَيَدُوسُهُمْ حِينَ يَسْقُطُونَ بَيْنَ مَخَالِبِهِ الْقَوِيَّةِ.

He will bow down and fall when he has mastered the poor.

١١ 11 يَقُولُ فِي قَلْبِهِ: اللهُ غَافِلٌ. قَدْ حَجَبَ وَجْهَهُ، وَلَنْ يَرَى مَا يَجْرِي

For he has said in his heart, God has forgotten: he has turned away his face so as never to look.

١٢ 12 قُمْ يَا رَبُّ، ارْفَعْ يَدَكَ يَا اللهُ، لَا تَنْسَ الْمَسَاكِينَ.

Arise, O Lord God; let your hand be lifted up: forget not the poor.

١٣ 13 لِمَاذَا يَسْتَهِينُ الشِّرِّيرُ بِاللهِ قَائِلاً فِي قَلْبِهِ: إِنَّكَ لَا تُحَاسِبُهُ؟

Therefore, has the wicked provoked God? for he has said in his heart, He will not require [it].

١٤ 14 وَلَكِنَّكَ قَدْ رَأَيْتَ. عَايَنْتَ مَا أَصَابَ الْمَسَاكِينَ مِنَ الْمَشَقَّةِ وَالْغَمِّ، فَتُجَازِي الشِّرِّيرَ بِيَدِكَ. يُسَلِّمُ إِلَيْكَ الْمِسْكِينُ أَمْرَهُ، فَأَنْتَ دَائِماً مُعِينُ الْيَتِيمِ.

You see [it]; for you do observe trouble and wrath, to deliver them into your hands: the poor has been left to you; you were a helper to the orphan.

١٥ 15 حَطِّمْ ذِرَاعَ الشِّرِّيرِ وَالْفَاجِرِ. حَاسِبْهُ عَلَى شَرِّهِ، حَتَّى لَا تَجِدَهُ.

Break you the arm of the sinner and wicked man: his sin shall be sought for, and shall not be found.

١٦ 16 الرَّبُّ مَلِكٌ إِلَى أَبَدِ الدُّهُورِ، قَدْ بَادَتْ مِنْ أَرْضِهِ الأُمَمُ (الَّتِي تَعْبُدُ آلِهَةً سِوَاهُ)

The Lord shall reign for ever, even for ever and ever: you Gentiles shall perish out his land.

١٧ 17 أَنْتَ يَا رَبُّ تَسْتَجِيبُ طِلْبَةَ الْوُدَعَاءِ، تُشَدِّدُ قُلُوبَهُمْ إِذْ تُصْغِي (إِلَى تَأَوُّهَاتِهِمْ).

The Lord has heard the desire of the poor: your ear has inclined to the preparation of their heart;

١٨ 18 تُنْصِفُ الْيَتِيمَ وَالْمَقْهُورَ، فَلَا يَعُودُ إِنْسَانٌ فِي الأَرْضِ يُرْعِبُهُمْ.

to plead for the orphan and afflicted, that man may no more boast upon the earth.
