عامُوس 3

١ 1 اسْمَعُوا يَا بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ هَذِهِ الْكَلِمَةَ الَّتِي قَضَى بِها الرَّبُّ عَلَيْكُمْ، بَلْ عَلَى كُلِّ الْقَبِيلَةِ الَّتِي أَخْرَجْتُهَا مِنْ دِيَارِ مِصْرَ:

Hear this word which the Lord hath spoken concerning you, O children of Israel, concerning the whole family which I have brought up from the land of Egypt, saying,

٢ 2 إِيَّاكُمْ وَحْدَكُمُ اخْتَرْتُ مِنْ بَيْنِ جَمِيعِ قَبَائِلِ الأَرْضِ، لِهَذَا أُعَاقِبُكُمْ عَلَى جَمِيعِ آثَامِكُمْ.

Only you have I loved out of all the families of the earth: therefore will I visit upon you all your iniquities.

٣ 3 هَلْ يَتَرَافَقُ اثْنَانِ مَعاً مَا لَمْ يَكُونَا عَلَى مَوْعِدٍ؟

Will two walk together, except they had agreed [to do so]?

٤ 4 أَيَزْأَرُ أَسَدٌ فِي الْغَابَةِ مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ يَقَعَ عَلَى فَرِيسَةٍ؟ أَيُزَمْجِرُ الشِّبْلُ بِصَوْتِهِ مِنْ عَرِينِهِ مَا لَمْ يَكُنْ قَدِ اقْتَنَصَ شَيْئاً؟

Will a lion roar in the forest, when he hath no prey? will a young lion send forth his voice out of his den, unless he have caught something?

٥ 5 أَيَسْقُطُ الْعُصْفُورُ فِي فَخٍّ عَلَى الأَرْضِ إِذَا لَمْ يَكُنْ هُنَاكَ فَخٌّ مَنْصُوبٌ؟ أَيَنْطَبِقُ فَخٌّ عَلَى الأَرْضِ مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ يَكُونَ قَدْ أَمْسَكَ شَيْئاً؟

Can a bird fall in a snare upon the earth, when there is no gin for him? is ever a snare taken up from the ground, when it hath caught nothing at all?

٦ 6 أَيُدَوِّي بُوقٌ فِي الْمَدِينَةِ وَلا يَعْتَرِي الشَّعْبَ الْخَوْفُ؟ أَيَقَعُ بَلاءٌ فِي الْمَدِينَةِ مَا لَمْ يَكُنِ الرَّبُّ قَدْ أَرْسَلَهُ؟

Shall a cornet be blown in a city, and the people not become afraid? shall there be evil in a city, and the Lord have not done it?

٧ 7 إِنَّ السَّيِّدَ الرَّبَّ لَا يُجْرِي أَمْراً مِنْ غَيْرِ أَنْ يُعْلِنَ سِرَّهُ لِعَبِيدِهِ الأَنْبِيَاءِ.

For the Lord Eternal will do nothing, unless he have revealed his secret unto his servants the prophets.

٨ 8 قَدْ زَأَرَ الأَسَدُ فَمَنْ لَا يَخَافُ، وَتَكَلَّمَ الرَّبُّ فَمَنْ لَا يَتَنَبَّأُ؟

The lion hath roared, who will not fear? the Lord Eternal hath spoken, who will not prophesy?

٩ 9 أَذِيعُوا فِي حُصُونِ أَشْدُودَ وَفِي حُصُونِ دِيَارِ مِصْرَ وَقُولُوا: احْتَشِدُوا عَلَى جِبَالِ السَّامِرَةِ، وَاشْهَدُوا مَا فِي وَسَطِهَا مِنْ جَلَبَةٍ، وَانْظُرُوا إِلَى الْمَظْلُومِينَ فِي دَاخِلِهَا.

Publish at the palaces in Ashdod, and at the palaces in the land of Egypt, and say, Assemble yourselves upon the mountains of Samaria, and behold the great confusions in her midst, and the oppressions [that are] within her.

١٠ 10 فَهَؤُلاءِ الَّذِينَ يَكْنِزُونَ الْجَوْرَ وَالنَّهْبَ فِي قُصُورِهِمْ لَا يَعْرِفُونَ التَّصَرُّفَ بِاسْتِقَامَةٍ، يَقُولُ الرَّبُّ.

For they know not how to act rightly, saith the Lord, who treasure up violence and robbery in their palaces.

١١ 11 لِذَلِكَ يُعْلِنُ الرَّبُّ الإِلَهُ: سَيَجْتَاحُ الْعَدُوُّ الْبِلادَ، وَيُحِيلُ حُصُونَكُمْ حُطَاماً وَيَنْهَبُ قُصُورَكُمْ.

Therefore thus hath said the Lord Eternal, The adversary [is there] and surroundeth the land: and he shall bring down from thee thy strength, and thy palaces shall be plundered.

١٢ 12 هَذَا مَا يَقُولُهُ الرَّبُّ: كَمَا يَعْجَزُ الرَّاعِي أَنْ يَنْتَزِعَ مِنْ فَمِ الأَسَدِ سِوَى رِجْلَيْ حَمَلٍ، أَوْ قِطْعَةً مِنْ أُذُنٍ، هَكَذَا لَنْ يَنْجُوَ سِوَى الْقَلِيلِ مِنْ شَعْبِ إِسْرَائِيلَ الْمُقِيمِينَ فِي السَّامِرَةِ، الْمُتَّكِئِينَ عَلَى الأَرَائِكِ الْوَثِيرَةِ وَالأَسِرَّةِ النَّاعِمَةِ.

Thus hath said the Lord, As the shepherd snatcheth out of the mouth of the lion [at most] two leg-bones, or a tip of the ear: so shall be delivered the children of Israel that sit in Samaria on the corner of a bed, and on Damascus couches.

١٣ 13 اسْمَعُوا وَاشْهَدُوا عَلَى بَيْتِ يَعْقُوبَ، يَقُولُ السَّيِّدُ الرَّبُّ الإِلَهُ الْقَدِيرُ.

Hear ye, and give warning in the house of Jacob, saith the Lord Eternal, the God of hosts.

١٤ 14 فِي ذَلِكَ الْيَوْمِ الَّذِي أُعَاقِبُ فِيهِ إِسْرَائِيلَ عَلَى تَعَدِّيَاتِهِ، أَهْدِمُ أَيْضاً مَذَابِحَ بَيْتِ إِيلَ، وَتُقْطَعُ قُرُونُ الْمَذْبَحِ وَتَتَهَاوَى عَلَى الأَرْضِ.

For on the day when I visit the transgressions of Israel upon him, will I also inflict punishment on the altars of Beth-el: and then shall be hewn off the horns of the altar, and they shall fall to the ground.

١٥ 15 وَأُدَمِّرُ الْبُيُوتَ الَّتِي يَأْوُونَ إِلَيْهَا فِي الشِّتَاءِ، وَبُيُوتَ الْمُنْتَجَعَاتِ الصَّيْفِيَّةِ، وَتَنْدَكُّ بُيُوتُ الْعَاجِ وَتَزُولُ مِنَ الْوُجُودِ قُصُورٌ كَثِيرَةٌ، يَقُولُ الرَّبُّ.

And I will smite the winter-house together with the summer-house: and the houses of ivory shall disappear, and the great houses shall be no more, saith the Lord.
