وَهَذِهِ أَسْمَاءُ الرِّجَالِ الَّذِينَ وَفَدُوا عَلَى دَاوُدَ وَهُوَ مُخْتَبِئٌ مِنْ شَاوُلَ بْنِ قَيْسَ، وَهُمْ أَبْطَالُ حَرْبٍ ١ 1
These were the men who came to David to Ziklag, while he was still banished from the presence of Saul son of Kish. They were among the soldiers, his helpers in battle.
بَارِعُونَ فِي رَمْيِ السِّهَامِ وَالْقِسِيِّ وَالْحِجَارَةِ بِالْمَقَالِيعِ، إِنْ بِالْيَدِ الْيُسْرَى أَوِ الْيَدِ الْيُمْنَى عَلَى السَّوَاءِ، وَجَمِيعُهُمْ مِنْ أَقْرِبَاءِ شَاوُلَ مِنْ سِبْطِ بِنْيَامِينَ. ٢ 2
They were armed with bows and could use both the right hand and the left in slinging stones and in shooting arrows from the bow. They were Benjamites, Saul's fellow tribesmen.
وَكَانَ عَلَى رَأْسِهِمْ أَخِيعَزَرُ ثُمَّ يُوآشُ ابْنَا شَمَاعَةَ الْجِبْعِيِّ، وَيَزُوئِيلُ وَفَالَطُ ابْنَا عَزْمُوتَ، وَبَرَاخَةُ وَيَاهُو الْعَنَاثُوثِيُّ، ٣ 3
The chief was Ahiezer, then Joash, both sons of Shemaah the Gibeathite. There were Jeziel and Pelet, sons of Azmaveth. There were also Berakah, Jehu the Anathothite,
وَيَشْمَعْيَا الْجِبْعُونِيُّ أَحَدُ الأَبْطَالِ الثَّلاثِينَ وَقَائِدُهُمْ، وَيَرْمِيَا وَيَحْزِيئِيلُ وَيُوحَانَانُ وَيُوزَابَادُ مِنْ جَدِيرَةَ، ٤ 4
Ishmaiah the Gibeonite, a soldier among the thirty (and in command of the thirty); Jeremiah, Jahaziel, Johanan, Jozabad the Gederathite,
وَإِلْعُوزَايُ وَيَرِيمُوثُ وَبَعْلِيَا وَشَمَرْيَا وَشَفَطْيَا مِنْ حَرُوفَ، ٥ 5
Eluzai, Jerimoth, Bealiah, Shemariah, Shephatiah the Haruphite,
وَأَلْقَانَةُ وَيَشِيَّا وَعَزْرِئِيلُ وَيُوعَزَرُ وَيَشُبْعَامُ مِنْ عَشِيرَةِ قُورَحَ، ٦ 6
the Korahites Elkanah, Isshiah, Azarel, Joezer, Jashobeam, and
وَيُوعِيلَةُ وَزَبَدْيَا ابْنَا يَرُوحَامَ مِنْ جَدُورَ. ٧ 7
Joelah and Zebadiah, sons of Jeroham of Gedor.
وَمِنْ أَبْطَالِ الْحَرْبِ رِجَالِ الْجَيْشِ مِنَ الْجَادِيِّينَ الَّذِينَ انْضَمُّوا إِلَى دَاوُدَ وَهُوَ فِي الْقَلْعَةِ مِمَّنْ بَرَعُوا فِي اسْتِعْمَالِ التُّرُوسِ وَالرِّمَاحِ وَوُجُوهُهُمْ كَوُجُوهِ الأُسُودِ، وَسُرْعَتُهُمْ كَسُرْعَةِ ظِبَاءِ الْجِبَالِ. ٨ 8
Some Gadites joined David at the stronghold in the wilderness. They were fighting men, men trained for battle, who could handle shield and spear; whose faces were as fierce as the faces of lions. They were as swift as gazelles on the mountains.
عَازَرُ وَكَانَ رَئِيساً لَهُمْ، وَعُوبَدْيَا الثَّانِي، وَأَلِيآبُ الثَّالِثُ، ٩ 9
There were Ezer the leader, Obadiah the second, Eliab the third,
وَمِشْمَنَّةُ الرَّابِعُ، وَيَرْمِيَا الْخَامِسُ، ١٠ 10
Mishmannah the fourth, Jeremiah the fifth,
وَعَتَّايُ السَّادِسُ، وَإِيلِيئِيلُ السَّابِعُ، ١١ 11
Attai the sixth, Eliel the seventh,
وَيُوحَانَانُ الثَّامِنُ، وَأَلْزَابَادُ التَّاسِعُ، ١٢ 12
Johanan the eighth, Elzabad the ninth,
وَيَرْمِيَا الْعَاشِرُ، وَمَخْبَنَّايُ الْحَادِي عَشَرَ. ١٣ 13
Jeremiah the tenth, Makbannai the eleventh.
وَجَمِيعُهُمْ مِنْ سِبْطِ جَادَ، وَقَادَةٌ فِي الْجَيْشِ، فَكَانَ الْكِبَارُ مِنْهُمْ قَادَةَ أُلُوفٍ، والصِّغَارُ قَادَةَ مِئَاتٍ. ١٤ 14
These sons of Gad were leaders of the army. The least led a hundred, and the greatest led a thousand.
وَقَدْ عَبَرُوا نَهْرَ الأُرْدُنِّ فِي أَوَّلِ شَهْرٍ مِنَ السَّنَةِ فِي مَوْسِمِ فَيَضَانِهِ وَهَزَمُوا كُلَّ أَهْلِ الأَوْدِيَةِ شَرْقِيَّ النَّهْرِ وَغَرْبِيَّهُ. ١٥ 15
They crossed the Jordan in the first month, when it overflowed its banks, and chased away all those living in the valleys, both toward the east and toward the west.
وَتَوَافَدَ عَلَى دَاوُدَ وَهُوَ فِي الْحِصْنِ قَوْمٌ مِنْ سِبْطَيْ بِنْيَامِينَ وَيَهُوذَا ١٦ 16
Some of the men of Benjamin and Judah came to the stronghold to David.
فَخَرَجَ دَاوُدُ لاِسْتِقْبَالِهِمْ وَقَالَ لَهُمْ: «إِنْ كُنْتُمْ قَدْ جِئْتُمْ بِنِيَّةٍ خَالِصَةٍ لِتُسَاعِدُونِي، فَإِنَّ قَلْبِي يَتَّحِدُ مَعَ قُلُوبِكُمْ؛ وَلَكِنْ إنْ كُنْتُمْ مُزْمِعِينَ عَلَى تَسْلِيمِي لِعَدُوِّي مِنْ غَيْرِ ذَنْبٍ جَنَيْتُهُ فَإِنَّ إِلَهَ آبَائِنَا يَرَى وَيُنْصِفُ». ١٧ 17
David went out to meet them and addressed them: “If you have come in peace to me to help me, you may join me. But if you have come to betray me to my adversaries, may the God of our ancestors see and rebuke you, since I have done no wrong.”
فَحَلَّ رُوحُ الرَّبِّ عَلَى عَمَاسَايَ الَّذِي أَصْبَحَ فِي مَا بَعْدُ قَائِدَ الثَّلاثَةِ وَقَالَ: «إِنَّنَا رِجَالُكَ يَا دَاوُدُ، وَنَحْنُ مَعَكَ يَا ابْنَ يَسَّى. سَلامٌ لَكَ، وَسَلامٌ لِنَاصِرِيكَ، لأَنَّ إِلَهَكَ هُوَ مُعِينُكَ». فَرَحَّبَ بِهِمْ دَاوُدُ وَجَعَلَهُمْ رُؤَسَاءَ فِي جَيْشِهِ. ١٨ 18
Then the Spirit came on Amasai, who was chief of the thirty. Amasai said, “We are yours, David. We are on your side, son of Jesse. Peace, may peace be to whoever helps you. May peace be to your helpers, for your God is helping you.” Then David received them and made them commanders over his men.
وَانْضَمَّ إِلَى دَاوُدَ بَعْضُ رِجَالِ مَنَسَّى حِينَ جَاءَ مَعَ الْفِلِسْطِينِيِّينَ الَّذِينَ جَاءُوا لِمُحَارَبَةِ شَاوُلَ، وَلَكِنَّهُ لَمْ يَشْتَرِكْ فِي الْمَعْرَكَةِ لأَنَّ أَقْطَابَ الْفِلِسْطِينِيِّينَ تَدَاوَلُوا فِي أَمْرِهِ وَخَافُوا أَنْ يَنْقَلِبَ عَلَيْهِمْ لِيَحْظَى بِرِضَى شَاوُلَ، فَأَبْعَدُوهُ عَنِ الْمَعْرَكَةِ. ١٩ 19
Some from Manasseh also deserted to David when he came with the Philistines against Saul to battle. Yet they did not help the Philistines, because the Philistine lords consulted with each other and sent David away. They said, “He will desert to his master Saul at the risk of our lives.”
وَفِي أَثْنَاءِ عَوْدَتِهِ إِلَى صِقْلَغَ انْضَمَّ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ رِجَالِ مَنَسَّى: عَدْنَاحُ وَيُوزَابَادُ وَيَدِيعَئِيلُ وَمِيخَائِيلُ وَيُوزَابَادُ وَأَلِيهُو وَصِلْتَايُ، وَقَدْ كَانُوا قَادَةً عَلَى أُلُوفٍ مِنْ جُنُودِ سِبْطِ مَنَسَّى. ٢٠ 20
When he went to Ziklag, the men of Manasseh who joined him were Adnah, Jozabad, Jediael, Michael, Jozabad, Elihu, and Zillethai, captains over thousands of Manasseh.
وَقَدْ أَسْعَفُوا دَاوُدَ فِي حَرْبِهِ مَعَ الْغُزَاةِ الْعَمَالِقَةِ لأَنَّهُمْ جَمِيعاً رِجَالُ حَرْبٍ أَشِدَّاءُ وَكَانُوا قَادَةً فِي الْجَيْشِ. ٢١ 21
They helped David fight against the roving bands, for they were fighting men. Later they became commanders in the army.
وَإِذْ تَقَاطَرَ الرِّجَالُ لِلانْضِمَامِ إِلَى دَاوُدَ، يَوْماً بَعْدَ يَوْمٍ، أَصْبَحَ لَدَيْهِ جَيْشٌ عَظِيمٌ قَوِيٌّ. ٢٢ 22
Day after day, men came to David to help him, until there was a great army, like the army of God.
وَهَذَا إحْصَاءٌ بِالْجُنُودِ الْمُحَارِبِينَ الَّذِينَ انْضَمُّوا إِلَى دَاوُدَ فِي حَبْرُونَ لِيُحَوِّلُوا مَمْلَكَةَ شَاوُلَ إِلَيْهِ حَسَبَ وَعْدِ الرَّبِّ. ٢٣ 23
This is the record of the armed soldiers for war, who came to David to Hebron, to turn the kingdom of Saul over to him, which carried out Yahweh's word.
مِنْ سِبْطِ يَهُوذَا: سِتَّةُ آلافٍ وَثَمَانِي مِئَةِ جُنْدِيٍّ مِنْ حَمَلَةِ الأَتْرَاسِ وَالرِّمَاحِ. ٢٤ 24
From Judah those who carried shield and spear were 6,800, armed for war.
مِنْ سِبْطِ شِمْعُونَ: سَبْعَةُ آلافٍ وَمِئَةٌ مِنَ الْمُحَارِبِينَ الأَشِدَّاءِ. ٢٥ 25
From the Simeonites there were 7,100 fighting men.
مِنْ سِبْطِ لاوِي: أَرْبَعَةُ آلافٍ وَسِتُّ مِئَةٍ. ٢٦ 26
From the Levites there were 4,600 fighting men.
مِنْ ذُرِّيَّةِ هرُونَ: الْقَائِدُ يَهُويَادَاعُ عَلَى رَأْسِ ثَلاثَةِ آلافٍ وَسَبْعِ مِئَةٍ. ٢٧ 27
Jehoiada was the leader of Aaron's descendants, and with him were 3,700.
وَانْضَمَّ إِلَيْهِ أَيْضاً صَادُوقُ الْمُقَاتِلُ الْجَبَّارُ مَعَ اثْنَيْنِ وَعِشْرِينَ قَائِداً مِنْ أَقْرِبَائِهِ. ٢٨ 28
With Zadok, a young, strong, and courageous man, were twenty-two leaders from his father's family.
وَمِنْ سِبْطِ بِنْيَامِينَ أَقْرِبَاءِ شَاوُلَ: ثَلاثَةُ آلافٍ، أَمَّا أَكْثَرِيَّةُ سِبْطِ بِنْيَامِينَ فَظَلُّوا مُوَالِينَ لِشَاوُلَ حَتَّى ذَلِكَ الْحِينِ. ٢٩ 29
From Benjamin, Saul's tribe, were three thousand. Most of them had remained loyal to Saul until this time.
وَمِنْ سِبْطِ أَفْرَايِمَ: عِشْرُونَ أَلْفاً وَثَمَانِي مِئَةٍ مِنَ الْمُحَارِبِينَ الأَشِدَّاءِ الْمَشْهُورِينَ بَيْنَ عَشَائِرِ قَبِيلَتِهِمْ. ٣٠ 30
From the Ephraimites there were 20,800 fighting men, men who were famous in their fathers' houses.
وَمِنْ نِصْفِ سِبْطِ مَنَسَّى: ثَمَانِيَةَ عَشَرَ أَلْفاً قَدْ اُخْتِيرُوا بِالتَّعْيِينِ لِيَذْهَبُوا وَيُنَصِّبُوا دَاوُدَ مَلِكاً عَلَيْهِمْ. ٣١ 31
From the half tribe of Manasseh there were eighteen thousand famous men who came to make David king.
وَمِنْ سِبْطِ يَسَّاكَرَ، مِنْ ذَوِي الْخِبْرَةِ وَالْحِكْمَةِ فِي سِيَاسَةِ شُؤُونِ إِسْرَائِيلَ: مِئَتَانِ مِنَ الرُّؤَسَاءِ مَعَ أَقْرِبَائِهِمِ الَّذِينَ تَحْتَ إِمْرَتِهِمْ. ٣٢ 32
From Issachar, there were two hundred leaders who had understanding of the times and knew what Israel ought to do. All their relatives were under their command.
وَمِنْ سِبْطِ زَبُولُونَ: خَمْسُونَ أَلْفاً مِنَ الْمُحَارِبِينَ الْمُخْلِصِينَ الْمُتَمَرِّسِينَ عَلَى الْحَرْبِ بِكُلِّ أَصْنَافِ الأَسْلِحَةِ. ٣٣ 33
From Zebulun there were fifty thousand fighting men, prepared for battle, with all the weapons of war, and ready to give undivided loyalty.
وَمِنْ سِبْطِ نَفْتَالِي: أَلْفُ قَائِدٍ عَلَى رَأْسِ سَبْعَةٍ وَثلاثِينَ أَلْفاً مِنَ الْمُحَارِبِينَ بِالأَتْرَاسِ وَالرِّمَاحِ. ٣٤ 34
From Naphtali there were one thousand officers, and with them thirty-seven thousand men with shields and spears.
وَمِنْ سِبْطِ دَانٍ: ثَمَانِيَةٌ وَعِشْرُونَ أَلْفاً وَسِتُّ مِئَةٍ مِنَ الْجُنُودِ الْمُقَاتِلِينَ فِي الْمَعَارِكِ. ٣٥ 35
From the Danites there were 28,600 men prepared for battle.
وَمِنْ سِبْطِ أَشِيرَ: أَرْبَعُونَ أَلْفاً مِنَ الْمُجَنَّدِينَ الْمُقَاتِلِينَ فِي الْمَعَارِكِ. ٣٦ 36
From Asher there were forty thousand men prepared for battle.
وَمِنْ سِبْطَيْ رَأُوبَيْنَ وَجَادٍ وَنِصْفِ سِبْطِ مَنَسَّى: مِئَةٌ وَعِشْرُونَ أَلْفاً مِنَ الْمُتَمَرِّسِينَ عَلَى الْقِتَالِ بِجَمِيعِ أَصْنَافِ الأَسْلِحَةِ، قَدِمُوا مِنْ شَرْقِيِّ نَهْرِ الأُرْدُنِّ. ٣٧ 37
From the other side of the Jordan, from the Reubenites, Gadites, and the half tribe of Manasseh, there were 120,000 men armed with all kinds of weapons for battle.
وَقَدِ انْضَمَّ رِجَالُ الْحَرْبِ هَؤُلاءِ بِنِيَّةٍ خَالِصَةٍ إِلَى دَاوُدَ فِي حَبْرُونَ، لِيُنَصِّبُوهُ مَلِكاً عَلَى إِسْرَائِيلَ، مُتَآزِرِينَ بِذَلِكَ مَعَ بَقِيَّةِ الإِسْرَائِيلِيِّينَ الَّذِينَ تَوَافَدُوا بِكُلِّ وَلاءٍ لِيُبَايِعُوا دَاوُدَ مَلِكاً عَلَيْهِمْ، ٣٨ 38
All these soldiers, equipped for battle, came to Hebron with firm intentions to make David king over all Israel. All the rest of Israel were in agreement to make David king also.
وَمَكَثُوا مَعَ دَاوُدَ ثَلاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ يَحْتَفِلُونَ آكِلِينَ شَارِبِينَ مِمَّا أَعَدَّهُ لَهُمْ أَقْرِبَاؤُهُمْ مِنْ بَنِي إِسْرَائِيلَ. ٣٩ 39
They were there with David three days, eating and drinking, for their relatives had sent them with provisions.
كَمَا شَارَكَ فِي اسْتِضَافَتِهِمْ عَشَائِرُ الأَسْبَاطِ الْقَرِيبَةِ حَتَّى يَسَّاكَرَ وَزَبُولُونَ وَنَفْتَالِي، الَّذِينَ كَانُوا يَأْتُونَ مُحَمِّلِينَ حَمِيرَهُمْ وَجِمَالَهُمْ وَبِغَالَهُمْ وَبَقَرَهُمْ بِالْخُبْزِ وَالدَّقِيقِ وَالتِّينِ وَالزَّبِيبِ وَالْخَمْرِ وَالزَّيْتِ. كَمَا جَاءُوا بِأَعْدَادٍ وَفِيرَةٍ مِنَ الْبَقَرِ وَالْغَنَمِ لِلذَّبْحِ، لأَنَّ الْفَرَحَ عَمَّ إِسْرَائِيلَ. ٤٠ 40
In addition, those who were near to them, as far as Issachar and Zebulun and Naphtali, brought bread on donkeys, camels, mules, and oxen, and cakes of figs, clusters of raisins, wine, oil, oxen, and sheep, for Israel was celebrating.
