إِرْمِيَا 7

١ 1 اَلْكَلِمَةُ ٱلَّتِي صَارَتْ إِلَى إِرْمِيَا مِنْ قِبَلِ ٱلرَّبِّ قَائِلًا:

The word that came to Jeremiah from Yahweh, saying,

٢ 2 «قِفْ فِي بَابِ بَيْتِ ٱلرَّبِّ وَنَادِ هُنَاكَ بِهَذِهِ ٱلْكَلِمَةِ وَقُلْ: اِسْمَعُوا كَلِمَةَ ٱلرَّبِّ يَا جَمِيعَ يَهُوذَا ٱلدَّاخِلِينَ فِي هَذِهِ ٱلْأَبْوَابِ لِتَسْجُدُوا لِلرَّبِّ.

“Stand at the gate of Yahweh's house and proclaim this word! Say, 'Hear the word of Yahweh, all you of Judah, you who enter these gates to worship Yahweh.

٣ 3 هَكَذَا قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلْجُنُودِ إِلَهُ إِسْرَائِيلَ: أَصْلِحُوا طُرُقَكُمْ وَأَعْمَالَكُمْ فَأُسْكِنَكُمْ فِي هَذَا ٱلْمَوْضِعِ.

Yahweh of hosts, God of Israel, says this: Make your ways and practices good, and I will let you continue to live in this place.

٤ 4 لَا تَتَّكِلُوا عَلَى كَلَامِ ٱلْكَذِبِ قَائِلِينَ: هَيْكَلُ ٱلرَّبِّ، هَيْكَلُ ٱلرَّبِّ، هَيْكَلُ ٱلرَّبِّ هُوَ!

Do not entrust yourself to deceitful words and say, “Temple of Yahweh! Temple of Yahweh! Temple of Yahweh!”

٥ 5 لِأَنَّكُمْ إِنْ أَصْلَحْتُمْ إِصْلَاحًا طُرُقَكُمْ وَأَعْمَالَكُمْ، إِنْ أَجْرَيْتُمْ عَدْلًا بَيْنَ ٱلْإِنْسَانِ وَصَاحِبِهِ،

For if you actually make your ways and practices good; if you completely execute justice between a man and his neighbor—

٦ 6 إِنْ لَمْ تَظْلِمُوا ٱلْغَرِيبَ وَٱلْيَتِيمَ وَٱلْأَرْمَلَةَ، وَلَمْ تَسْفِكُوا دَمًا زَكِيًّا فِي هَذَا ٱلْمَوْضِعِ، وَلَمْ تَسِيرُوا وَرَاءَ آلِهَةٍ أُخْرَى لِأَذَائِكُمْ

if you do not exploit the one staying in the land, the orphan, or the widow and do not pour out innocent blood in this place, and do not walk after other gods to your own harm—

٧ 7 فَإِنِّي أُسْكِنُكُمْ فِي هَذَا ٱلْمَوْضِعِ، فِي ٱلْأَرْضِ ٱلَّتِي أَعْطَيْتُ لِآبَائِكُمْ مِنَ ٱلْأَزَلِ وَإِلَى ٱلْأَبَدِ.

then I will let you stay in this place, in the land that I gave to your ancestors from ancient times and forever.

٨ 8 «هَا إِنَّكُمْ مُتَّكِلُونَ عَلَى كَلَامِ ٱلْكَذِبِ ٱلَّذِي لَا يَنْفَعُ.

Behold! You are trusting in deceitful words that do not help you.

٩ 9 أَتَسْرِقُونَ وَتَقْتُلُونَ وَتَزْنُونَ وَتَحْلِفُونَ كَذِبًا وَتُبَخِّرُونَ لِلْبَعْلِ، وَتَسِيرُونَ وَرَاءَ آلِهَةٍ أُخْرَى لَمْ تَعْرِفُوهَا،

Do you steal, kill, and commit adultery? Do you swear deceitfully and offer incense to Baal and walk after other gods whom you have not known?

١٠ 10 ثُمَّ تَأْتُونَ وَتَقِفُونَ أَمَامِي فِي هَذَا ٱلْبَيْتِ ٱلَّذِي دُعِيَ بِٱسْمِي عَلَيْهِ وَتَقُولُونَ: قَدْ أُنْقِذْنَا. حَتَّى تَعْمَلُوا كُلَّ هَذِهِ ٱلرَّجَاسَاتِ؟

Then do you come and stand before me in this house that is called by my name and say, “We are saved,” so you can do all of these abominations?

١١ 11 هَلْ صَارَ هَذَا ٱلْبَيْتُ ٱلَّذِي دُعِيَ بِٱسْمِي عَلَيْهِ مَغَارَةَ لُصُوصٍ فِي أَعْيُنِكُمْ؟ هَأَنَذَا أَيْضًا قَدْ رَأَيْتُ، يَقُولُ ٱلرَّبُّ.

Is this house, which carries my name, a den of bandits in your eyes? But behold, I have seen it—this is Yahweh's declaration.'

١٢ 12 لَكِنِ ٱذْهَبُوا إِلَى مَوْضِعِي ٱلَّذِي فِي شِيلُوهَ ٱلَّذِي أَسْكَنْتُ فِيهِ ٱسْمِي أَوَّلًا، وَٱنْظُرُوا مَا صَنَعْتُ بِهِ مِنْ أَجْلِ شَرِّ شَعْبِي إِسْرَائِيلَ.

'So go to my place that was in Shiloh, where I allowed my name to stay there in the beginning, and look at what I did to it because of the wickedness of my people Israel.

١٣ 13 وَٱلْآنَ مِنْ أَجْلِ عَمَلِكُمْ هَذِهِ ٱلْأَعْمَالَ، يَقُولُ ٱلرَّبُّ، وَقَدْ كَلَّمْتُكُمْ مُبَكِّرًا وَمُكَلِّمًا فَلَمْ تَسْمَعُوا، وَدَعَوْتُكُمْ فَلَمْ تُجِيبُوا،

So now, on account of your doing all of these practices—this is Yahweh's declaration—I spoke to you time and time again, but you did not listen. I summoned you, but you did not answer.

١٤ 14 أَصْنَعُ بِٱلْبَيْتِ ٱلَّذِي دُعِيَ بِٱسْمِي عَلَيْهِ ٱلَّذِي أَنْتُمْ مُتَّكِلُونَ عَلَيْهِ، وَبِالْمَوْضِعِ ٱلَّذِي أَعْطَيْتُكُمْ وَآبَاءَكُمْ إِيَّاهُ، كَمَا صَنَعْتُ بِشِيلُوهَ.

Therefore, what I did to Shiloh, I will also do to this house that is called by my name, the house in which you have trusted, this place that I gave to you and your ancestors.

١٥ 15 وَأَطْرَحُكُمْ مِنْ أَمَامِي كَمَا طَرَحْتُ كُلَّ إِخْوَتِكُمْ، كُلَّ نَسْلِ أَفْرَايِمَ.

For I will send you out from before me just as I had sent out all your brothers, all the descendants of Ephraim.'

١٦ 16 وَأَنْتَ فَلَا تُصَلِّ لِأَجْلِ هَذَا ٱلشَّعْبِ وَلَا تَرْفَعْ لِأَجْلِهِمْ دُعَاءً وَلَا صَلَاةً، وَلَا تُلِحَّ عَلَيَّ لِأَنِّي لَا أَسْمَعُكَ.

As for you, Jeremiah, do not pray for this people, and do not lift up a lamenting wail or say a prayer on their behalf, and do not petition me, for I will not listen to you.

١٧ 17 «أَمَا تَرَى مَاذَا يَعْمَلُونَ فِي مُدُنِ يَهُوذَا وَفِي شَوَارِعِ أُورُشَلِيمَ؟

Do you not see what they are doing in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem?

١٨ 18 ٱلْأَبْنَاءُ يَلْتَقِطُونَ حَطَبًا، وَٱلْآبَاءُ يُوقِدُونَ ٱلنَّارَ، وَٱلنِّسَاءُ يَعْجِنَّ ٱلْعَجِينَ، لِيَصْنَعْنَ كَعْكًا لِمَلِكَةِ ٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ، وَلِسَكْبِ سَكَائِبَ لِآلِهَةٍ أُخْرَى لِكَيْ يُغِيظُونِي.

The children are gathering wood and the fathers kindling the fire! The women are kneading dough to make cakes for the queen of the heavens and pour out drink offerings for other gods so that they will provoke me.

١٩ 19 أَفَإِيَّايَ يُغِيظُونَ، يَقُولُ ٱلرَّبُّ؟ أَلَيْسَ أَنْفُسَهُمْ لِأَجْلِ خِزْيِ وُجُوهِهِمْ؟

Are they truly provoking me?—this is Yahweh's declaration—is it not themselves whom they are provoking, so that shame is on them?

٢٠ 20 لِذَلِكَ هَكَذَا قَالَ ٱلسَّيِّدُ ٱلرَّبُّ: هَا غَضَبِي وَغَيْظِي يَنْسَكِبَانِ عَلَى هَذَا ٱلْمَوْضِعِ، عَلَى ٱلنَّاسِ وَعَلَى ٱلْبَهَائِمِ وَعَلَى شَجَرِ ٱلْحَقْلِ وَعَلَى ثَمَرِ ٱلْأَرْضِ، فَيَتَّقِدَانِ وَلَا يَنْطَفِئَانِ.

Therefore the Lord Yahweh says this, 'See, my anger and wrath will gush out onto this place, on both man and beast, on the tree in the fields and the fruit on the ground. It will burn and never be extinguished.'

٢١ 21 «هَكَذَا قَالَ رَبُّ ٱلْجُنُودِ إِلَهُ إِسْرَائِيلَ: ضُمُّوا مُحْرَقَاتِكُمْ إِلَى ذَبَائِحِكُمْ وَكُلُوا لَحْمًا.

Yahweh of hosts, God of Israel says this, 'Add your burnt offerings to your sacrifices and the meat from them.

٢٢ 22 لِأَنِّي لَمْ أُكَلِّمْ آبَاءَكُمْ وَلَا أَوْصَيْتُهُمْ يَوْمَ أَخْرَجْتُهُمْ مِنْ أَرْضِ مِصْرَ مِنْ جِهَةِ مُحْرَقَةٍ وَذَبِيحَةٍ.

For when I brought your ancestors out from the land of Egypt, I did not require anything from them. I gave them no command about matters of burnt offerings and sacrifices.

٢٣ 23 بَلْ إِنَّمَا أَوْصَيْتُهُمْ بِهَذَا ٱلْأَمْرِ قَائِلًا: ٱسْمَعُوا صَوْتِي فَأَكُونَ لَكُمْ إِلَهًا، وَأَنْتُمْ تَكُونُونَ لِي شَعْبًا، وَسِيرُوا فِي كُلِّ ٱلطَّرِيقِ ٱلَّذِي أُوصِيكُمْ بِهِ لِيُحْسَنَ إِلَيْكُمْ.

I only gave them this command, “Listen to my voice, and I will be your God and you will be my people. So walk in all the ways that I am commanding you, so that it may go well with you.”

٢٤ 24 فَلَمْ يَسْمَعُوا وَلَمْ يُمِيلُوا أُذْنَهُمْ، بَلْ سَارُوا فِي مَشُورَاتِ وَعِنَادِ قَلْبِهِمِ ٱلشِّرِّيرِ، وَأَعْطَوْا ٱلْقَفَا لَا ٱلْوَجْهَ.

But they did not listen or pay attention. They lived by their own stubborn plans of their wicked hearts, so they went backwards, not forward.

٢٥ 25 فَمِنَ ٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلَّذِي خَرَجَ فِيهِ آبَاؤُكُمْ مِنْ أَرْضِ مِصْرَ إِلَى هَذَا ٱلْيَوْمِ، أَرْسَلْتُ إِلَيْكُمْ كُلَّ عَبِيدِي ٱلْأَنْبِيَاءِ، مُبَكِّرًا كُلَّ يَوْمٍ وَمُرْسِلًا.

Ever since the day when your ancestors went out from the land of Egypt until this day, I have sent every one of my servants, my prophets, to you. I persisted in sending them.

٢٦ 26 فَلَمْ يَسْمَعُوا لِي وَلَمْ يُمِيلُوا أُذُنَهُمْ، بَلْ صَلَّبُوا رِقَابَهُمْ. أَسَاءُوا أَكْثَرَ مِنْ آبَائِهِمْ.

But they did not listen to me. They paid no attention. Instead, they hardened their necks. They were more wicked than their ancestors.'

٢٧ 27 فَتُكَلِّمُهُمْ بِكُلِّ هَذِهِ ٱلْكَلِمَاتِ وَلَا يَسْمَعُونَ لَكَ، وَتَدْعُوهُمْ وَلَا يُجِيبُونَكَ.

So proclaim all these words to them, but they will not listen to you. Proclaim these things to them, but they will not answer you.

٢٨ 28 فَتَقُولُ لَهُمْ: هَذِهِ هِيَ ٱلْأُمَّةُ ٱلَّتِي لَمْ تَسْمَعْ لِصَوْتِ ٱلرَّبِّ إِلَهِهَا وَلَمْ تَقْبَلْ تَأْدِيبًا. بَادَ ٱلْحَقُّ وَقُطِعَ عَنْ أَفْوَاهِهِمْ.

Say to them: This is a nation that does not listen to the voice of Yahweh its God and does not receive discipline. Truth is destroyed and cut off from their mouths.

٢٩ 29 «جُزِّي شَعْرَكِ وَٱطْرَحِيهِ، وَٱرْفَعِي عَلَى ٱلْهِضَابِ مَرْثَاةً، لِأَنَّ ٱلرَّبَّ قَدْ رَفَضَ وَرَذَلَ جِيلَ رِجْزِهِ.

Cut off your hair and shave yourself, and throw away your hair. Sing a funeral song over the open places. For Yahweh has rejected and abandoned this generation in his rage.

٣٠ 30 لِأَنَّ بَنِي يَهُوذَا قَدْ عَمِلُوا ٱلشَّرَّ فِي عَيْنَيَّ، يَقُولُ ٱلرَّبُّ. وَضَعُوا مَكْرَهَاتِهِمْ فِي ٱلْبَيْتِ ٱلَّذِي دُعِيَ بِٱسْمِي لِيُنَجِّسُوهُ.

For the sons of Judah have done evil in my eye—this is Yahweh's declaration—they have set their detestable things in the house that is called by my name, in order to defile it.

٣١ 31 وَبَنَوْا مُرْتَفَعَاتِ تُوفَةَ ٱلَّتِي فِي وَادِي ٱبْنِ هِنُّومَ لِيُحْرِقُوا بَنِيهِمْ وَبَنَاتِهِمْ بِٱلنَّارِ، ٱلَّذِي لَمْ آمُرْ بِهِ وَلَا صَعِدَ عَلَى قَلْبِي.

Then they built the high place of Topheth that is in the Valley of Ben Hinnom. They did this to burn their sons and daughters in fire—something that I did not command, nor did it enter my mind.

٣٢ 32 «لِذَلِكَ هَا هِيَ أَيَّامٌ تَأْتِي، يَقُولُ ٱلرَّبُّ، وَلَا يُسَمَّى بَعْدُ تُوفَةُ وَلَا وَادِي ٱبْنِ هِنُّومَ، بَلْ وَادِي ٱلْقَتْلِ. وَيَدْفِنُونَ فِي تُوفَةَ حَتَّى لَا يَكُونَ مَوْضِعٌ.

So see, days are coming—this is Yahweh's declaration—when it will no longer be called Topheth or Valley of Ben Hinnom. It will be the Valley of Slaughter; they will bury bodies in Topheth until there is no room left.

٣٣ 33 وَتَصِيرُ جُثَثُ هَذَا ٱلشَّعْبِ أُكْلًا لِطُيُورِ ٱلسَّمَاءِ وَلِوُحُوشِ ٱلْأَرْضِ، وَلَا مُزْعِجَ.

The corpses of this people will be food for the birds of the skies and the beasts of the earth, and there will be no one to frighten them away.

٣٤ 34 وَأُبَطِّلُ مِنْ مُدُنِ يَهُوذَا وَمِنْ شَوَارِعِ أُورُشَلِيمَ صَوْتَ ٱلطَّرَبِ وَصَوْتَ ٱلْفَرَحِ، صَوْتَ ٱلْعَرِيسِ وَصَوْتَ ٱلْعَرُوسِ، لِأَنَّ ٱلْأَرْضَ تَصِيرُ خَرَابًا.

I will put an end to the cities of Judah and the streets of Jerusalem, the sound of joy and the sound of gladness, the sound of the groom and the sound of the bride, for the land will become a desolation.”
