اَلتَّكْوِينُ 42

١ 1 فَلَمَّا رَأَى يَعْقُوبُ أَنَّهُ يُوجَدُ قَمْحٌ فِي مِصْرَ، قَالَ يَعْقُوبُ لِبَنِيهِ: «لِمَاذَا تَنْظُرُونَ بَعْضُكُمْ إِلَى بَعْضٍ؟»

and to see: examine Jacob for there grain in/on/with Egypt and to say Jacob to/for son: child his to/for what? to see: see

٢ 2 وَقَالَ «إِنِّي قَدْ سَمِعْتُ أَنَّهُ يُوجَدُ قَمْحٌ فِي مِصْرَ. ٱنْزِلُوا إِلَى هُنَاكَ وَٱشْتَرُوا لَنَا مِنْ هُنَاكَ لِنَحْيَا وَلَا نَمُوتَ».

and to say behold to hear: hear for there grain in/on/with Egypt to go down there [to] and to buy grain to/for us from there and to live and not to die

٣ 3 فَنَزَلَ عَشْرَةٌ مِنْ إِخْوَةِ يُوسُفَ لِيَشْتَرُوا قَمْحًا مِنْ مِصْرَ.

and to go down brother: male-sibling Joseph ten to/for to buy grain grain from Egypt

٤ 4 وَأَمَّا بَنْيَامِينُ أَخُو يُوسُفَ فَلَمْ يُرْسِلْهُ يَعْقُوبُ مَعَ إِخْوَتِهِ، لِأَنَّهُ قَالَ: «لَعَلَّهُ تُصِيبُهُ أَذِيَّةٌ».

and [obj] Benjamin brother: male-sibling Joseph not to send: depart Jacob with brother: male-sibling his for to say lest to encounter: chanced him harm

٥ 5 فَأَتَى بَنُو إِسْرَائِيلَ لِيَشْتَرُوا بَيْنَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَتَوْا، لِأَنَّ ٱلْجُوعَ كَانَ فِي أَرْضِ كَنْعَانَ.

and to come (in): come son: child Israel to/for to buy grain in/on/with midst [the] to come (in): come for to be [the] famine in/on/with land: country/planet Canaan

٦ 6 وَكَانَ يُوسُفُ هُوَ ٱلْمُسَلَّطَ عَلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ، وَهُوَ ٱلْبَائِعَ لِكُلِّ شَعْبِ ٱلْأَرْضِ. فَأَتَى إِخْوَةُ يُوسُفَ وَسَجَدُوا لَهُ بِوُجُوهِهِمْ إِلَى ٱلْأَرْضِ.

and Joseph he/she/it [the] domineering upon [the] land: country/planet he/she/it [the] to buy grain to/for all people [the] land: country/planet and to come (in): come brother: male-sibling Joseph and to bow to/for him face land: soil [to]

٧ 7 وَلَمَّا نَظَرَ يُوسُفُ إِخْوَتَهُ عَرَفَهُمْ، فَتَنَكَّرَ لَهُمْ وَتَكَلَّمَ مَعَهُمْ بِجَفَاءٍ، وَقَالَ لَهُمْ: «مِنْ أَيْنَ جِئْتُمْ؟» فَقَالُوا: «مِنْ أَرْضِ كَنْعَانَ لِنَشْتَرِيَ طَعَامًا».

and to see: see Joseph [obj] brother: male-sibling his and to recognize them and to alienate to(wards) them and to speak: speak with them severe and to say to(wards) them from where? to come (in): come and to say from land: country/planet Canaan to/for to buy grain food

٨ 8 وَعَرَفَ يُوسُفُ إِخْوَتَهُ، وَأَمَّا هُمْ فَلَمْ يَعْرِفُوهُ.

and to recognize Joseph [obj] brother: male-sibling his and they(masc.) not to recognize him

٩ 9 فَتَذَكَّرَ يُوسُفُ ٱلْأَحْلَامَ ٱلَّتِي حَلُمَ عَنْهُمْ، وَقَالَ لَهُمْ: «جَوَاسِيسُ أَنْتُمْ! لِتَرَوْا عَوْرَةَ ٱلْأَرْضِ جِئْتُمْ»

and to remember Joseph [obj] [the] dream which to dream to/for them and to say to(wards) them to spy you(m. p.) to/for to see: see [obj] nakedness [the] land: country/planet to come (in): come

١٠ 10 فَقَالُوا لَهُ: «لَا يَا سَيِّدِي، بَلْ عَبِيدُكَ جَاءُوا لِيَشْتَرُوا طَعَامًا.

and to say to(wards) him not lord my and servant/slave your to come (in): come to/for to buy grain food

١١ 11 نَحْنُ جَمِيعُنَا بَنُو رَجُلٍ وَاحِدٍ. نَحْنُ أُمَنَاءُ، لَيْسَ عَبِيدُكَ جَوَاسِيسَ».

all our son: child man one we right we not to be servant/slave your to spy

١٢ 12 فَقَالَ لَهُمْ: «كَلَّا! بَلْ لِتَرَوْا عَوْرَةَ ٱلْأَرْضِ جِئْتُمْ».

and to say to(wards) them not for nakedness [the] land: country/planet to come (in): come to/for to see: see

١٣ 13 فَقَالُوا: «عَبِيدُكَ ٱثْنَا عَشَرَ أَخًا. نَحْنُ بَنُو رَجُلٍ وَاحِدٍ فِي أَرْضِ كَنْعَانَ. وَهُوَذَا ٱلصَّغِيرُ عِنْدَ أَبِينَا ٱلْيَوْمَ، وَٱلْوَاحِدُ مَفْقُودٌ».

١٤ 14 فَقَالَ لَهُمْ يُوسُفُ: «ذَلِكَ مَا كَلَّمْتُكُمْ بِهِ قَائِلًا: جَوَاسِيسُ أَنْتُمْ!

and to say to(wards) them Joseph he/she/it which to speak: speak to(wards) you to/for to say to spy you(m. p.)

١٥ 15 بِهَذَا تُمْتَحَنُونَ. وَحَيَاةِ فِرْعَوْنَ لَا تَخْرُجُونَ مِنْ هُنَا إِلَا بِمَجِيءِ أَخِيكُمُ ٱلصَّغِيرِ إِلَى هُنَا.

١٦ 16 أَرْسِلُوا مِنْكُمْ وَاحِدًا لِيَجِيءَ بِأَخِيكُمْ، وَأَنْتُمْ تُحْبَسُونَ، فَيُمْتَحَنَ كَلَامُكُمْ هَلْ عِنْدَكُمْ صِدْقٌ. وَإِلَا فَوَحَيَاةِ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّكُمْ لَجَوَاسِيسُ!».

to send: depart from you one and to take: bring [obj] brother: male-sibling your and you(m. p.) to bind and to test word your truth: true with you and if not alive Pharaoh for to spy you(m. p.)

١٧ 17 فَجَمَعَهُمْ إِلَى حَبْسٍ ثَلَاثَةَ أَيَّامٍ.

and to gather [obj] them to(wards) custody three day

١٨ 18 ثُمَّ قَالَ لَهُمْ يُوسُفُ فِي ٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلثَّالِثِ: «ٱفْعَلُوا هَذَا وَٱحْيَوْا. أَنَا خَائِفُ ٱللهِ.

and to say to(wards) them Joseph in/on/with day [the] third this to make: do and to live [obj] [the] God I afraid

١٩ 19 إِنْ كُنْتُمْ أُمَنَاءَ فَلْيُحْبَسْ أَخٌ وَاحِدٌ مِنْكُمْ فِي بَيْتِ حَبْسِكُمْ، وَٱنْطَلِقُوا أَنْتُمْ وَخُذُوا قَمْحًا لِمَجَاعَةِ بُيُوتِكُمْ.

if right you(m. p.) brother: male-sibling your one to bind in/on/with house: home custody your and you(m. p.) to go: went to come (in): bring grain famine house: household your

٢٠ 20 وَأَحْضِرُوا أَخَاكُمُ ٱلصَّغِيرَ إِلَيَّ، فَيَتَحَقَّقَ كَلَامُكُمْ وَلَا تَمُوتُوا». فَفَعَلُوا هَكَذَا.

and [obj] brother: male-sibling your [the] small: young to come (in): bring to(wards) me and be faithful word your and not to die and to make: do so

٢١ 21 وَقَالُوا بَعْضُهُمْ لِبَعْضٍ: «حَقًّا إِنَّنَا مُذْنِبُونَ إِلَى أَخِينَا ٱلَّذِي رَأَيْنَا ضِيقَةَ نَفْسِهِ لَمَّا ٱسْتَرْحَمَنَا وَلَمْ نَسْمَعْ. لِذَلِكَ جَاءَتْ عَلَيْنَا هَذِهِ ٱلضِّيقَةُ».

٢٢ 22 فَأَجَابَهُمْ رَأُوبَيْنُ قَائِلًا: «أَلَمْ أُكَلِّمْكُمْ قَائِلًا: لَا تَأْثَمُوا بِٱلْوَلَدِ، وَأَنْتُمْ لَمْ تَسْمَعُوا؟ فَهُوَذَا دَمُهُ يُطْلَبُ».

and to answer Reuben [obj] them to/for to say not to say to(wards) you to/for to say not to sin in/on/with youth and not to hear: hear and also blood his behold to seek

٢٣ 23 وَهُمْ لَمْ يَعْلَمُوا أَنَّ يُوسُفَ فَاهِمٌ، لِأَنَّ ٱلتُّرْجُمَانَ كَانَ بَيْنَهُمْ.

٢٤ 24 فَتَحَوَّلَ عَنْهُمْ وَبَكَى، ثُمَّ رَجَعَ إِلَيْهِمْ وَكَلَّمَهُمْ، وَأَخَذَ مِنْهُمْ شِمْعُونَ وَقَيَّدَهُ أَمَامَ عُيُونِهِمْ.

and to turn: turn from upon them and to weep and to return: return to(wards) them and to speak: speak to(wards) them and to take: take from with them [obj] Simeon and to bind [obj] him to/for eye: before(the eyes) their

٢٥ 25 ثُمَّ أَمَرَ يُوسُفُ أَنْ تُمْلَأَ أَوْعِيَتُهُمْ قَمْحًا، وَتُرَدَّ فِضَّةُ كُلِّ وَاحِدٍ إِلَى عِدْلِهِ، وَأَنْ يُعْطَوْا زَادًا لِلطَّرِيقِ. فَفُعِلَ لَهُمْ هَكَذَا.

and to command Joseph and to fill [obj] article/utensil their grain and to/for to return: return silver: money their man: anyone to(wards) sackcloth his and to/for to give: give to/for them provision to/for way: journey and to make: do to/for them so

٢٦ 26 فَحَمَلُوا قَمْحَهُمْ عَلَى حَمِيرِهِمْ وَمَضَوْا مِنْ هُنَاكَ.

and to lift: bear [obj] grain their upon donkey their and to go: went from there

٢٧ 27 فَلَمَّا فَتَحَ أَحَدُهُمْ عِدْلَهُ لِيُعْطِيَ عَلِيقًا لِحِمَارِهِ فِي ٱلْمَنْزِلِ، رَأَى فِضَّتَهُ وَإِذَا هِيَ فِي فَمِ عِدْلِهِ.

and to open [the] one [obj] sackcloth his to/for to give: give fodder to/for donkey his in/on/with lodging and to see: see [obj] silver: money his and behold he/she/it in/on/with lip sack his

٢٨ 28 فَقَالَ لِإِخْوَتِهِ: «رُدَّتْ فِضَّتِي وَهَا هِيَ فِي عِدْلِي». فَطَارَتْ قُلُوبُهُمْ وَٱرْتَعَدُوا بَعْضُهُمْ فِي بَعْضٍ قَائِلِينَ: «مَا هَذَا ٱلَّذِي صَنَعَهُ ٱللهُ بِنَا؟».

and to say to(wards) brother: male-sibling his to return: return silver: money my and also behold in/on/with sack my and to come out: surrender heart their and to tremble man: anyone to(wards) brother: compatriot his to/for to say what? this to make: do God to/for us

٢٩ 29 فَجَاءُوا إِلَى يَعْقُوبَ أَبِيهِمْ إِلَى أَرْضِ كَنْعَانَ، وَأَخْبَرُوهُ بِكُلِّ مَا أَصَابَهُمْ قَائِلِينَ:

and to come (in): come to(wards) Jacob father their land: country/planet [to] Canaan and to tell to/for him [obj] all [the] to meet [obj] them to/for to say

٣٠ 30 «تَكَلَّمَ مَعَنَا ٱلرَّجُلُ سَيِّدُ ٱلْأَرْضِ بِجَفَاءٍ، وَحَسِبَنَا جَوَاسِيسَ ٱلْأَرْضِ.

to speak: speak [the] man lord [the] land: country/planet with us severe and to give: make [obj] us like/as to spy [obj] [the] land: country/planet

٣١ 31 فَقُلْنَا لَهُ: نَحْنُ أُمَنَاءُ، لَسْنَا جَوَاسِيسَ.

٣٢ 32 نَحْنُ ٱثْنَا عَشَرَ أَخًا بَنُو أَبِينَا. ٱلْوَاحِدُ مَفْقُودٌ وَٱلصَّغِيرُ ٱلْيَوْمَ عِنْدَ أَبِينَا فِي أَرْضِ كَنْعَانَ.

two ten we brother: male-sibling son: child father our [the] one nothing he and [the] small: young [the] day: today with father our in/on/with land: country/planet Canaan

٣٣ 33 فَقَالَ لَنَا ٱلرَّجُلُ سَيِّدُ ٱلْأَرْضِ: بِهَذَا أَعْرِفُ أَنَّكُمْ أُمَنَاءُ. دَعُوا أَخًا وَاحِدًا مِنْكُمْ عِنْدِي، وَخُذُوا لِمَجَاعَةِ بُيُوتِكُمْ وَٱنْطَلِقُوا.

and to say to(wards) us [the] man lord [the] land: country/planet in/on/with this to know for right you(m. p.) brother: male-sibling your [the] one to rest with me and [obj] famine house: household your to take: take and to go: went

٣٤ 34 وَأَحْضِرُوا أَخَاكُمُ ٱلصَّغِيرَ إِلَيَّ فَأَعْرِفَ أَنَّكُمْ لَسْتُمْ جَوَاسِيسَ، بَلْ أَنَّكُمْ أُمَنَاءُ، فَأُعْطِيَكُمْ أَخَاكُمْ وَتَتَّجِرُونَ فِي ٱلْأَرْضِ».

and to come (in): bring [obj] brother: male-sibling your [the] small: young to(wards) me and to know for not to spy you(m. p.) for right you(m. p.) [obj] brother: male-sibling your to give: give to/for you and [obj] [the] land: country/planet to trade

٣٥ 35 وَإِذْ كَانُوا يُفَرِّغُونَ عِدَالَهُمْ إِذَا صُرَّةُ فِضَّةِ كُلِّ وَاحِدٍ فِي عِدْلِهِ. فَلَمَّا رَأَوْا صُرَرَ فِضَّتِهِمْ هُمْ وَأَبُوهُمْ خَافُوا.

and to be they(masc.) to empty sackcloth their and behold man: anyone bundle silver: money his in/on/with sackcloth his and to see: see [obj] bundle silver: money their they(masc.) and father their and to fear

٣٦ 36 فَقَالَ لَهُمْ يَعْقُوبُ: «أَعْدَمْتُمُونِي ٱلْأَوْلَادَ. يُوسُفُ مَفْقُودٌ، وَشِمْعُونُ مَفْقُودٌ، وَبَنْيَامِينُ تَأْخُذُونَهُ. صَارَ كُلُّ هَذَا عَلَيَّ».

and to say to(wards) them Jacob father their [obj] me be bereaved Joseph nothing he and Simeon nothing he and [obj] Benjamin to take: take upon me to be all their

٣٧ 37 وَكَلَّمَ رَأُوبَيْنُ أَبَاهُ قَائِلًا: «ٱقْتُلِ ٱبْنَيَّ إِنْ لَمْ أَجِئْ بِهِ إِلَيْكَ. سَلِّمْهُ بِيَدِي وَأَنَا أَرُدُّهُ إِلَيْكَ».

and to say Reuben to(wards) father his to/for to say [obj] two son: child my to die if not to come (in): bring him to(wards) you to give: put [emph?] [obj] him upon hand my and I to return: return him to(wards) you

٣٨ 38 فَقَالَ: «لَا يَنْزِلُ ٱبْنِي مَعَكُمْ، لِأَنَّ أَخَاهُ قَدْ مَاتَ، وَهُوَ وَحْدَهُ بَاقٍ. فَإِنْ أَصَابَتْهُ أَذِيَّةٌ فِي ٱلطَّرِيقِ ٱلَّتِي تَذْهَبُونَ فِيهَا تُنْزِلُونَ شَيْبَتِي بِحُزْنٍ إِلَى ٱلْهَاوِيَةِ». (Sheol h7585)
