أفَسُس 4

١ 1 فَأَطْلُبُ إِلَيْكُمْ، أَنَا ٱلْأَسِيرَ فِي ٱلرَّبِّ: أَنْ تَسْلُكُوا كَمَا يَحِقُّ لِلدَّعْوَةِ ٱلَّتِي دُعِيتُمْ بِهَا.

I, therefore, as the prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk worthily of the calling by which you were called.

٢ 2 بِكُلِّ تَوَاضُعٍ وَوَدَاعَةٍ وَبِطُولِ أَنَاةٍ، مُحْتَمِلِينَ بَعْضُكُمْ بَعْضًا فِي ٱلْمَحَبَّةِ.

I urge you to live with great humility and gentleness and patience, putting up with one another in love.

٣ 3 مُجْتَهِدِينَ أَنْ تَحْفَظُوا وَحْدَانِيَّةَ ٱلرُّوحِ بِرِبَاطِ ٱلسَّلَامِ.

Do your best to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.

٤ 4 جَسَدٌ وَاحِدٌ، وَرُوحٌ وَاحِدٌ، كَمَا دُعِيتُمْ أَيْضًا فِي رَجَاءِ دَعْوَتِكُمُ ٱلْوَاحِدِ.

There is one body and one Spirit, just as also you were called in one certain hope of your calling.

٥ 5 رَبٌّ وَاحِدٌ، إِيمَانٌ وَاحِدٌ، مَعْمُودِيَّةٌ وَاحِدَةٌ،

And there is one Lord, one faith, one baptism,

٦ 6 إِلَهٌ وَآبٌ وَاحِدٌ لِلْكُلِّ، ٱلَّذِي عَلَى ٱلْكُلِّ وَبِٱلْكُلِّ وَفِي كُلِّكُمْ.

and one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.

٧ 7 وَلَكِنْ لِكُلِّ وَاحِدٍ مِنَّا أُعْطِيَتِ ٱلنِّعْمَةُ حَسَبَ قِيَاسِ هِبَةِ ٱلْمَسِيحِ.

To each one of us grace has been given according to the measure of the gift of Christ.

٨ 8 لِذَلِكَ يَقُولُ: «إِذْ صَعِدَ إِلَى ٱلْعَلَاءِ سَبَى سَبْيًا وَأَعْطَى ٱلنَّاسَ عَطَايَا».

It is as scripture says: “When he ascended to the heights, he led the captives into captivity, and he gave gifts to the people.”

٩ 9 وَأَمَّا أَنَّهُ «صَعِدَ»، فَمَا هُوَ إِلَّا إِنَّهُ نَزَلَ أَيْضًا أَوَّلًا إِلَى أَقْسَامِ ٱلْأَرْضِ ٱلسُّفْلَى.

What is the meaning of “He ascended,” except that he also descended into the lower regions of the earth?

١٠ 10 اَلَّذِي نَزَلَ هُوَ ٱلَّذِي صَعِدَ أَيْضًا فَوْقَ جَمِيعِ ٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ، لِكَيْ يَمْلَأَ ٱلْكُلَّ.

He who descended is the same person who also ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.

١١ 11 وَهُوَ أَعْطَى ٱلْبَعْضَ أَنْ يَكُونُوا رُسُلًا، وَٱلْبَعْضَ أَنْبِيَاءَ، وَٱلْبَعْضَ مُبَشِّرِينَ، وَٱلْبَعْضَ رُعَاةً وَمُعَلِّمِينَ،

Christ gave some to be apostles, some as prophets, some as evangelists, and some as pastors and teachers.

١٢ 12 لِأَجْلِ تَكْمِيلِ ٱلْقِدِّيسِينَ لِعَمَلِ ٱلْخِدْمَةِ، لِبُنْيَانِ جَسَدِ ٱلْمَسِيحِ،

He gave these offices to equip the saints for the work of service, for the building up of the body of Christ.

١٣ 13 إِلَى أَنْ نَنْتَهِيَ جَمِيعُنَا إِلَى وَحْدَانِيَّةِ ٱلْإِيمَانِ وَمَعْرِفَةِ ٱبْنِ ٱللهِ. إِلَى إِنْسَانٍ كَامِلٍ. إِلَى قِيَاسِ قَامَةِ مِلْءِ ٱلْمَسِيحِ.

He continues to build up his body until we all reach the unity of faith and knowledge of the Son of God, and that we become mature and so reach the measure of the fullness of Christ.

١٤ 14 كَيْ لَا نَكُونَ فِي مَا بَعْدُ أَطْفَالًا مُضْطَرِبِينَ وَمَحْمُولِينَ بِكُلِّ رِيحِ تَعْلِيمٍ، بِحِيلَةِ ٱلنَّاسِ، بِمَكْرٍ إِلَى مَكِيدَةِ ٱلضَّلَالِ.

Christ builds us up so that we should no longer be children who are tossed back and forth by the waves, and carried away by every wind of teaching and by the trickery of people in their deceitful schemes.

١٥ 15 بَلْ صَادِقِينَ فِي ٱلْمَحَبَّةِ، نَنْمُو فِي كُلِّ شَيْءٍ إِلَى ذَاكَ ٱلَّذِي هُوَ ٱلرَّأْسُ: ٱلْمَسِيحُ،

Instead, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, that is, Christ.

١٦ 16 ٱلَّذِي مِنْهُ كُلُّ ٱلْجَسَدِ مُرَكَّبًا مَعًا، وَمُقْتَرِنًا بِمُؤَازَرَةِ كُلِّ مَفْصِلٍ، حَسَبَ عَمَلٍ، عَلَى قِيَاسِ كُلِّ جُزْءٍ، يُحَصِّلُ نُمُوَّ ٱلْجَسَدِ لِبُنْيَانِهِ فِي ٱلْمَحَبَّةِ.

Christ builds the whole body, and it is joined and held together by every supporting ligament, and when each part works together, that makes the body grow so that it builds itself up in love.

١٧ 17 فَأَقُولُ هَذَا وَأَشْهَدُ فِي ٱلرَّبِّ: أَنْ لَا تَسْلُكُوا فِي مَا بَعْدُ كَمَا يَسْلُكُ سَائِرُ ٱلْأُمَمِ أَيْضًا بِبُطْلِ ذِهْنِهِمْ،

Therefore, I say and insist on this in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles live, in the futility of their minds.

١٨ 18 إِذْ هُمْ مُظْلِمُو ٱلْفِكْرِ، وَمُتَجَنِّبُونَ عَنْ حَيَاةِ ٱللهِ لِسَبَبِ ٱلْجَهْلِ ٱلَّذِي فِيهِمْ بِسَبَبِ غِلَاظَةِ قُلُوبِهِمْ.

They are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their hearts.

١٩ 19 اَلَّذِينَ -إِذْ هُمْ قَدْ فَقَدُوا ٱلْحِسَّ- أَسْلَمُوا نُفُوسَهُمْ لِلدَّعَارَةِ لِيَعْمَلُوا كُلَّ نَجَاسَةٍ فِي ٱلطَّمَعِ.

They have no shame and have handed themselves over to sensuality, and they are continually practicing every kind of impurity.

٢٠ 20 وَأَمَّا أَنْتُمْ فَلَمْ تَتَعَلَّمُوا ٱلْمَسِيحَ هَكَذَا،

But that is not how you learned about Christ.

٢١ 21 إِنْ كُنْتُمْ قَدْ سَمِعْتُمُوهُ وَعُلِّمْتُمْ فِيهِ كَمَا هُوَ حَقٌّ فِي يَسُوعَ،

I assume that you have heard about him, and that you were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus.

٢٢ 22 أَنْ تَخْلَعُوا مِنْ جِهَةِ ٱلتَّصَرُّفِ ٱلسَّابِقِ ٱلْإِنْسَانَ ٱلْعَتِيقَ ٱلْفَاسِدَ بِحَسَبِ شَهَوَاتِ ٱلْغُرُورِ،

You were taught to put off what belongs to your former manner of life, to put off the old man. It is the old man that is corrupt because of its deceitful desires.

٢٣ 23 وَتَتَجَدَّدُوا بِرُوحِ ذِهْنِكُمْ،

You were taught to be renewed in the spirit of your minds,

٢٤ 24 وَتَلْبَسُوا ٱلْإِنْسَانَ ٱلْجَدِيدَ ٱلْمَخْلُوقَ بِحَسَبِ ٱللهِ فِي ٱلْبِرِّ وَقَدَاسَةِ ٱلْحَقِّ.

and to put on the new man that is created in the image of God—in true righteousness and holiness.

٢٥ 25 لِذَلِكَ ٱطْرَحُوا عَنْكُمُ ٱلْكَذِبَ، وَتَكَلَّمُوا بِٱلصِّدْقِ كُلُّ وَاحِدٍ مَعَ قَرِيبِهِ، لِأَنَّنَا بَعْضَنَا أَعْضَاءُ ٱلْبَعْضِ.

Therefore, get rid of lies, and let each one of you speak truth with his neighbor, because we are members of one another.

٢٦ 26 اِغْضَبُوا وَلَا تُخْطِئُوا. لَا تَغْرُبِ ٱلشَّمْسُ عَلَى غَيْظِكُمْ،

Be angry and do not sin. Do not let the sun go down on your anger.

٢٧ 27 وَلَا تُعْطُوا إِبْلِيسَ مَكَانًا.

Do not give an opportunity to the devil.

٢٨ 28 لَا يَسْرِقِ ٱلسَّارِقُ فِي مَا بَعْدُ، بَلْ بِٱلْحَرِيِّ يَتْعَبُ عَامِلًا ٱلصَّالِحَ بِيَدَيْهِ، لِيَكُونَ لَهُ أَنْ يُعْطِيَ مَنْ لَهُ ٱحْتِيَاجٌ.

The one who had been stealing must steal no longer. He must labor, doing useful work with his hands, so that he may have something to share with those who are in need.

٢٩ 29 لَا تَخْرُجْ كَلِمَةٌ رَدِيَّةٌ مِنْ أَفْوَاهِكُمْ، بَلْ كُلُّ مَا كَانَ صَالِحًا لِلْبُنْيَانِ حَسَبَ ٱلْحَاجَةِ، كَيْ يُعْطِيَ نِعْمَةً لِلسَّامِعِينَ.

Do not let any filthy talk come out of your mouth. Use only words that are helpful for building others up, according to their needs, that your words would be helpful to those who hear you.

٣٠ 30 وَلَا تُحْزِنُوا رُوحَ ٱللهِ ٱلْقُدُّوسَ ٱلَّذِي بِهِ خُتِمْتُمْ لِيَوْمِ ٱلْفِدَاءِ.

And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, for it is by him that you were sealed for the day of redemption.

٣١ 31 لِيُرْفَعْ مِنْ بَيْنِكُمْ كُلُّ مَرَارَةٍ وَسَخَطٍ وَغَضَبٍ وَصِيَاحٍ وَتَجْدِيفٍ مَعَ كُلِّ خُبْثٍ.

Put away all bitterness, rage, anger, quarreling, and insults, along with every kind of evil.

٣٢ 32 وَكُونُوا لُطَفَاءَ بَعْضُكُمْ نَحْوَ بَعْضٍ، شَفُوقِينَ، مُتَسَامِحِينَ كَمَا سَامَحَكُمُ ٱللهُ أَيْضًا فِي ٱلْمَسِيحِ.

Be kind to each other, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, just as God in Christ forgave you.
