Sofonia 1

1 Fjala e Zotit që iu drejtua Sofonias, birit të Kushit, bir i Gedaliahut, bir i Amariahut, bir i Ezekias, në ditët e Josias, birit të Amonit, mbret i Judës.

The word of the Lord which came to Sophonias the son of Chusi, the son of Godolias, the son of Amorias, the son of Ezekias, in the days of Josias son of Amon, king of Juda.

2 “Unë do të zhduk krejt çdo gjë nga faqja e dheut”, thotë Zoti.

Let there be an utter cutting off from the face of the land, saith the Lord.

3 “Do të zhduk njerëz dhe kafshë, do të zhduk zogjtë e qiellit dhe peshqit e detit, shkaqet e mëkatit së bashku me të pabesët dhe do të shfaros njeriun nga faqja e dheut”, thotë Zoti.

Let man and cattle be cut off; let the birds of the air and the fishes of the sea be cut off; and the ungodly shall fail, and I will take away the transgressors from the face of the land, saith the Lord.

4 “Do të shtrij dorën time kundër Judës dhe kundër të gjithë banorëve të Jeruzalemit dhe do të shfaros nga ky vend mbeturinat e Baalit, emrin e priftërinjve idhujtarë, bashkë me priftërinjtë,

And I will stretch out mine hand upon Juda, and upon all the inhabitants of Jerusalem; and I will remove the names of Baal out of this place, and the names of the priests;

5 ata të cilët bien përmbys mbi tarraca përpara ushtrisë së qiellit, ata që bien përmbys duke iu betuar Zotit, por duke iu betuar edhe Malkamit,

and them that worship the host of heaven upon the house-tops; and them that worship and swear by the Lord, and them that swear by their king;

6 ata që largohen nga Zoti dhe ata që nuk e kërkojnë Zotin dhe nuk e konsultojnë.

and them that turn aside from the Lord, and them that seek not the Lord, and them that cleave not to the Lord.

7 Rri në heshtje para Zotit, Zotit, sepse dita e Zotit është e afërt, sepse Zoti ka përgatitur një flijim, ka shenjtëruar të ftuarit e tij.

Fear ye before the Lord God; for the day of the Lord is near; for the Lord has prepared his sacrifice, and has sanctified his guests.

8 Ditën e flijimit të Zotit do të ndodhë që unë do të ndëshkoj princat, bijtë e mbretit dhe tërë ata që mbajnë veshje të huajsh.

And it shall come to pass in the day of the Lord's sacrifice, that I will take vengeance on the princes, and on the king's house, and upon all that wear strange apparel.

9 Po atë ditë do të ndëshkoj tërë ata që hidhen mbi prag, që mbushin me dhunë dhe mashtrim shtëpitë e zotërve të tyre.

And I will openly take vengeance on the porches in that day, [on the men] that fill the house of the Lord their God with ungodliness and deceit.

10 Atë ditë”, thotë Zoti, “do të ngrihet një britmë nga porta e peshqve, një klithmë nga lagja e dytë dhe një zhurmë e madhe nga kodrat.

And there shall be in that day, saith the Lord, the sound of a cry from the gate of men slaying, and a howling from the second [gate], and a great crashing from the hills.

11 Ulërini, o banorë të Makteshit, sepse tërë populli i tregtarëve është asgjësuar, tërë ata të ngarkuar me para janë shfarosur.

Lament, ye that inhabit the [city] that has been broken down, for all the people has become like Chanaan; and all that were exalted by silver have been utterly destroyed.

12 Në atë kohë do të ndodhë që unë do të kontrolloj Jeruzalemin me llampa dhe do të ndëshkoj njerëzit që, duke qëndruar në llumin e tyre, thonë në zemër të tyre: “Zoti nuk bën as të mirë as të keq”.

And it shall come to pass in that day, [that] I will search Jerusalem with a candle, and will take vengeance on the men that despise the things committed to them; but they say in their hearts, The Lord will not do any good, neither will he do any evil.

13 Prandaj pasuritë e tyre do të bëhen plaçkë lufte dhe shtëpitë e tyre do të shkretohen. Do të ndërtojnë shtëpi, do të mbjellin vreshta, por nuk do pinë verën e tyre”.

And their power shall be for a spoil, and their houses for utter desolation; and they shall build houses, but shall not dwell in them; and they shall plant vineyards, but shall not drink the wine of them.

14 Dita e Zotit është e afërt, është e afërt dhe po vjen me shpejtësi të madhe. Zhurma e ditës së Zotit është e hidhur; atëherë njeriu trim do të këlthasë fort.

For the great day of the Lord [is] near, [it is] near, and very speedy; the sound of the day of the Lord is made bitter and harsh.

15 Ajo ditë është një ditë zemërimi, një ditë mjerimi dhe ankthi, një ditë shkatërrimi dhe shkretie, një ditë terri dhe mjegulle, një ditë resh dhe errësire të thellë,

A mighty day of wrath is that day, a day of affliction and distress, a day of desolation and destruction, a day of gloominess and darkness, a day of cloud and vapour,

16 një ditë zhurmimi të borisë dhe alarmi kundër qyteteve të fortifikuara dhe kullave të larta.

a day of the trumpet and cry against the strong cities, and against the high towers.

17 Unë do të sjell fatkeqësinë mbi njerëzit dhe ata do të ecin si të verbër, sepse kanë mëkatuar kundër Zotit; gjaku i tyre do të shpërndahet si pluhur dhe mishi i tyre si jashtëqitje.

And I will greatly afflict the men, and they shall walk as blind men, because they have sinned against the Lord; therefore he shall pour out their blood as dust, and their flesh as dung.

18 As argjendi i tyre as ari i tyre nuk do të mund t’i çlirojnë ditën e zemërimit të Zotit; përkundrazi tërë vendi do të gllabërohet nga zjarri i xhelozisë së tij, sepse ai do të kryejë me siguri një shkatërrim të plotë të të gjithë banorëve të vendit.

And their silver and their gold shall in nowise be able to rescue them in the day of the Lord's wrath; but the whole land shall be devoured by the fire of his jealously; for he will bring a speedy destruction on all them that inhabit the land.
