Gjoni 7
1 Pas këtyre gjërave, Jezusi përshkoi Galilenë, sepse nuk donte të endej nëpër Jude, nga që Judenjtë kërkonin ta vrisnin.
After this, Jesus went about in Galilee, for he would not do so in Judea, because the religious authorities (in Jerusalem) were eager to put him to death.
2 Por festa e Judenjve, ajo e Tabernakujve ishte afër.
When the Jewish Festival of Tabernacles was near,
3 Prandaj vëllezërit e tij i thanë: “Nisu prej këndej dhe shko në Jude, që edhe dishepujt e tu t’i shohin veprat që ti bën.
his brothers said to him, “Leave this part of the country, and go into Judea, so that your disciples, as well as we, may see the work that you are doing.
4 Askush në fakt nuk bën asgjë në fshehtësi kur kërkon të nijhet botërisht; kur ti do të bësh gjëra të tilla, tregohu botës!”.
For no one does a thing privately, if they are seeking to be widely known. Since you do these things, you should show yourself publicly to the world.”
5 Në fakt as vëllezërit e tij nuk besonin në të.
For even his brothers did not believe in him.
6 Atëherë Jezusi u tha aytre: “Koha ime nuk ka ardhur ende; por koha juaj është gjithmonë gati.
“My time,” answered Jesus, “is not come yet, but your time is always here.
7 Bota nuk mund t’ju urrejë juve, por më urren mua sepse unë dëshmoj për të se veprat e saj janë të mbrapshta.
The world cannot hate you, but it does hate me, because I testify that its ways are evil.
8 Ngjituni ju në këtë festë; unë nuk po ngjitem ende në këtë festë, sepse koha ime ende nuk është plotësuar”.
Go yourselves up to the Festival; I am not going to this Festival yet, because my time has not yet come.”
9 Dhe si u tha atyre këto gjëra, mbeti në Galile.
After telling them this, he stayed on in Galilee.
10 Mbasi vëllezërit e tij u ngjitën në festë, atëherë edhe ai u ngjit atje, jo haptas, por si fshehurazi.
But, when his brothers had gone up to the Festival, Jesus also went up – not publicly, but privately.
11 Judenjtë, pra, e kërkonin gjatë festës dhe thoshnin: “Ku është ai?”.
The authorities were looking for him at the Festival and asking ‘Where is he?’;
12 Në turmë pëshpëritej shumë për të; disa thoshnin: “Ai është i mirë!”. Të tjerë thoshnin: “Jo, madje ai e mashtron popullin”.
and there were many whispers about him among the people, some saying ‘He is a good man;’ others, ‘No! He is leading the people astray.’
13 Por askush nuk fliste haptas për të, nga druajtja e Judenjve.
No one, however, spoke freely about him, because they were afraid of the authorities.
14 Por, aty nga mesi i festës, Jezusi u ngjit në tempull dhe mësonte.
About the middle of the Festival week, Jesus went up into the Temple Courts, and began teaching.
15 Dhe Judenjtë mrrekulloheshin duke thënë: “Si i ditka ky shkronjat, pa pasur studiuar?”.
The authorities were astonished. “How has this man got his learning,” they asked, “when he has never studied?”
16 Jezusi atëherë iu përgjigj atyre dhe tha: “Doktrina ime nuk është imja, por e atij që më ka dërguar.
So, in reply, Jesus said, “My teaching is not my own; it is his who sent me.
17 Në qoftë se dikush don të bëjë vullnetin e tij, do ta njohë nëse kjo doktrinë vjen nga Perëndia apo që unë flas nga vetja ime.
If anyone has the will to do God’s will, they will find out whether my teaching is from God, or whether I speak on my own authority.
18 Kush flet nga vetja e tij kërkon lavdinë e vet, kurse ai që kërkon lavdinë e atij që e ka dërguar është i vërtetë, dhe në të nuk ka padrejtësi.
The person who speaks on their own authority seeks honor for themselves; but the one who seeks the honor of him who sent him is sincere, and there is nothing false in him.
19 A nuk jua ka dhënë Moisiu ligjin? E pra, asnjë nga ju nuk e vë në praktikë ligjin. Pse kërkoni të më vritni?”.
Was not it Moses who gave you the Law? Yet not one of you obeys it! Why are you seeking to put me to death?”
20 Turma u përgjigj dhe tha: “Ti ke një demon; kush kërkon të të vrasë?”.
“You must be possessed by a demon!” the people exclaimed. “Who is seeking to put you to death?”
21 Jezusi u përgjigj dhe u tha: “Unë bëra një vepër dhe ju të gjithë jeni të mreku-lluar.
“There was one thing I did,” replied Jesus, “at which you are all still wondering.
22 Prandaj Moisiu iu dha rrethprerjen (ajo nuk është prej Moisiut, por prej etërve); dhe ju e rrethpritni një njeri të shtunën.
But that is why Moses has instituted circumcision among you – not, indeed, that it began with him, but with our ancestors – and that is why you circumcise even on a Sabbath.
23 Në qoftë se një njeri merr rrethprerjen të shtunën, që të mos shkelet ligji i Moisiut, ju zemëroheni kundër meje sepse shërova tërësishtë një njeri të shtunën?
When a man receives circumcision on a Sabbath to prevent the Law of Moses from being broken, how can you be angry with me for making a man sound and well on a Sabbath?
24 Mos gjykoni sipas pamjes së jashtme, por gjykoni sipas drejtësisë!”
Do not judge by appearances; judge justly.”
25 Atëherë disa nga Jeruzalemi thanë: “A nuk është ky ai që kërkojnë ta vrasin?
At this some of the people of Jerusalem exclaimed, “Is not this the man who they are seeking to put to death?
26 E megjithatë ja, ai po flet lirisht dhe nuk i thonë asgjë; mos kanë njohur krerët me të vërtetë se ai është Krishti?
Yet here he is, speaking out boldly, and they say nothing to him! Is it possible that our leading men have really discovered that he is the Christ?
27 Por ne e dimë se nga është ai; ndërsa kur të vijë Krishti, askush nuk do ta dijë se nga është”.
Yet we know where this man is from; but, when the Christ comes, no one will be able to tell where he is from.”
28 Atëherë Jezusi, duke mësuar në tempull, thirri dhe tha: “Ju më njihni dhe e dini se nga jam, megjithatë unë s’kam ardhur nga vetja, por ai që më ka dërguar është i vërtetë dhe ju nuk e njihni.
Therefore, Jesus, as he was teaching in the Temple Courts, raised his voice and said, “Yes; you know me and you know where I am from. Yet I have not come on my own authority, but he who sent me may be trusted; and him you do not know.
29 Por unë atë e njoh, sepse jam nga ai dhe ai më dërgoi”.
I do know him, for it is from him that I have come, and he sent me as his messenger.”
30 Prandaj ata kërkonin ta kapnin, por askush nuk vuri dorë mbi të, sepse ora e tij s’kishte ardhur akoma.
So they sought to arrest him; but no one touched him, for his time was not come yet.
31 Por shumë veta nga turma besuan në të dhe thoshnin: “Kur të vijë Krishti, a do të bëjë më shumë shenja se këto që ka bërë ky?”.
Many of the people, however, believed in him. “When the Christ comes,” they said, “will he give more signs of his mission than this man has given?”
32 Farisenjtë dëgjuan turmën duke pëshpëritur këto gjëra për të; prandaj farisenjtë dhe krerët e priftërinjve dërguan roje për ta kapur.
The Pharisees heard the people whispering about him in this way, and so the chief priests and the Pharisees sent officers to arrest him;
33 Atëherë Jezusi u tha atyre: “Unë jam edhe për pak kohë me ju, pastaj do të shkoj tek ai që më ka dërguar.
at which Jesus said, “I will be with you but a little longer, and then I am going to him who sent me.
34 Do të më kërkoni e nuk do të më gjeni; dhe atje ku do të jem unë, ju nuk do të mund të vini”.
You will look for me, and you will not find me; and you will not be able to come where I will be.”
35 Prandaj Judenjtë thonin në mes tyre: “Ku do të shkojë ky që ne nuk do ta gjejmë? Mos do të shkojë tek ata që janë shpërndarë midis Grekëve, dhe të mësojë Grekët?
“Where is this man going,” the people asked one another, “that we would not find him? Will he go to our countrymen abroad, and teach foreigners?
36 Çfarë deshi të thoshte kur tha: “Ju do të më kërkoni dhe nuk do të më gjeni”; dhe: “Atje ku do të jem unë, ju nuk mund të vini”?”.
What does he mean by saying ‘You will look for me, and you will not find me; and you will not be able to come where I will be’?”
37 Ditën e fundit, në ditën e madhe të festës, Jezusi u çua në këmbë dhe thirri duke thënë: “Nëse dikush ka etje, le të vijë tek unë e të pijë.
On the last and greatest day of the Festival, Jesus, who was standing by, exclaimed, “If anyone is thirsty, they should come to me and drink.
38 Ai që beson në mua, siç ka thënë Shkrimi, nga brendësia e tij do të burojnë lumenj uji të gjallë”.
From the heart of those who believe in me will flow, as is said in scripture, rivers of living water.”
39 Por këtë ai e tha për Frymën, që do të merrnin ata që do të besonin në të; sepse Fryma e Shenjtë në fakt nuk ishte dhënë ende, sepse Jezusi ende nuk ishte përlëvduar.
(By this he meant the Spirit, which those who had believed in him were to receive; for the Spirit had not yet come, because Jesus had not yet been exalted.)
40 Shumë veta nga turma, kur i dëgjuan këto fjalë, thoshnin: “Ky është me të vërtetë Profeti!”.
Some of the people, when they heard these words, said, “This is certainly the Prophet!”;
41 Të tjerë thoshnin: “Ky është Krishti”. Kurse të tjerë thoshnin: “Vallë nga Galilea vjen Krishti?
others said, “the Christ!”; but some asked, “What! Does the Christ come from Galilee?
42 A nuk thotë Shkrimi se Krishti vjen nga pasardhja e Davidit dhe nga Bethlehemi, fshati ku jetonte Davidi?”.
Is not it said in scripture that it is of the descendants of David, and from Bethlehem, the village to which David belonged, that the Christ is to come?”
43 Kështu pati përçarje në turmë për shkak të tij.
So there was a sharp division among the people because of Jesus.
44 Dhe disa prej tyre donin ta kapnin, por askush nuk vuri dorë mbi të.
Some of them wanted to arrest him, and yet no one touched him.
45 Atëherë rojet u kthyen te krerët e priftërinjve dhe te farisenjtë, dhe këta u thanë atyre: “Pse nuk e sollët?”.
When the officers returned to the chief priests and Pharisees, they were asked, “Why have you not brought him?”
46 Rojet u përgjigjen: “Asnjeri nuk ka folur kurrë si ai njeri”.
“No one ever spoke as he speaks!” they answered.
47 Prandaj farisenjtë iu përgjigjën atyre: “Mos u gënjyet edhe ju?
“What! Have you been led astray too?” the Pharisees replied.
48 Mos vallë ndonjë nga krerët ose nga farisenjtë besoi në të?
“Have any of our leading men believed in him, or any of the Pharisees?
49 Por kjo turmë, që nuk e njeh ligjin, është e mallkuar”.
As for these people who do not know the Law – they are cursed!”
50 Nikodemi, një prej tyre, i cili natën kishte shkuar te Jezusi, u tha atyre:
But one of their number, Nicodemus, who before this had been to see Jesus, said to them,
51 “Ligji ynë dënon vallë një njeri para se ta ketë dëgjuar dhe ta dijë ç’ka bërë ai?”.
“Does our Law pass judgment on a person without first giving them a hearing, and finding out what they have been doing?”
52 Ata u përgjigjën dhe i thanë: “Mos je edhe ti nga Galilea? Hulumto Shkrimet dhe do të shohësh se nga Galilea s’ka dalë kurrë profet”.
“Are you also from Galilee?” they retorted. “Search, and you will find that no prophet is to arise in Galilee!”
53 Dhe secili u kthye në shtëpinë e vet.
And everyone went home
