إِذْ رَغْمَ انْقِطَاعِ الرَّجَاءِ، فَبِالرَّجَاءِ آمَنَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ بِأَنَّهُ سَيَصِيرُ أَباً لأُمَمٍ كَثِيرَةٍ، وَفْقاً لِمَا قِيلَ لَهُ: «بِهذِهِ الْكَثْرَةِ سَيَكُونُ نَسْلُكَ».

অব্রাহামের আশা না থাকা সত্বেও তিনি বিশ্বাস করলেন, যেন ঈশ্বরের বাক্য অনুসারে তিনি বহু জাতির পিতা হন। আর সেই বাক্য অনুযায়ী অব্রাহাম অনেক জাতির পিতা হয়েছিলেন।
সব আশার প্রতিকূলে, অব্রাহাম প্রত্যাশাতেই বিশ্বাস করলেন এবং এভাবে বহু জাতির পিতা হয়ে উঠলেন, যেমন তাঁকে বলা হয়েছিল, “তোমার বংশ এরকমই হবে।”

U nadi protiv svake nade povjerova Abraham da postane ocem naroda mnogih po onom što je rečeno: Toliko će biti tvoje potomstvo.
