He received the sign of circumcision, a seal of the righteousness of the faith which he had while he was in uncircumcision, that he might be the father of all those who believe, though they might be in uncircumcision, that righteousness might also be accounted to them.

وَأَخَذَ عَلَامَةَ ٱلْخِتَانِ خَتْمًا لِبِرِّ ٱلْإِيمَانِ ٱلَّذِي كَانَ فِي ٱلْغُرْلَةِ، لِيَكُونَ أَبًا لِجَمِيعِ ٱلَّذِينَ يُؤْمِنُونَ وَهُمْ فِي ٱلْغُرْلَةِ، كَيْ يُحْسَبَ لَهُمْ أَيْضًا ٱلْبِرُّ.
ثُمَّ تَلَقَّى إِبْرَاهِيمُ عَلامَةَ الْخِتَانِ خَتْماً لِلْبِرِّ الْحَاصِلِ بِالإِيمَانِ الَّذِي كَانَ لَهُ وَهُوَ مَازَالَ غَيْرَ مَخْتُونٍ، لِكَيْ يَكُونَ أَباً لِجَمِيعِ الَّذِينَ يُؤْمِنُونَ مِنْ غَيْرِ الْمَخْتُونِينَ فَيُحْسَبَ الْبِرُّ لَهُمْ أَيْضاً،

Յետոյ թլփատութեան նշանը ստացաւ՝ իբր կնիք անթլփատութեան ատենը ունեցած հաւատքին արդարութեան, որպէսզի ինք ըլլայ հայրը այն բոլոր հաւատացողներուն՝ որոնք անթլփատ են (անոնց ալ արդարութիւն սեպուելու համար),

For he received the sign of circumcision as a symbol of the justice of that faith which exists apart from circumcision, so that he might be the father of all those who believe while uncircumcised, so that it might also be reputed to them unto justice,

Das Zeichen der Beschneidung empfing er dann als Siegel der Gerechtigkeit jenes Glaubens, den er schon als Unbeschnittener bewiesen hatte. So sollte er ein Vater aller derer sein, die als Unbeschnittene zum Glauben kommen — denn auch ihnen sollte die Gerechtigkeit angerechnet werden —.
