then they said to him, “Now say ‘Shibboleth;’” and he said “Sibboleth”; for he could not manage to pronounce it correctly, then they seized him and killed him at the fords of the Jordan. At that time, forty-two thousand of Ephraim fell.

So the men of Gilead killed 42,000 people from the tribe of Ephraim at that time.

သူတို့က၊ ရှိဗောလက်ဟူသော စကားကို ပြောတော့ဟုဆိုသော်၊ ဧဖရိမ်လူသည် ထိုစကားကို ပြီအောင် မပြောတတ်ဘဲ သိဗောလက်ဟု ပြော၏။ ထိုသို့ပြောသောသူကို ဘမ်းဆီး၍ ယော်ဒန်မြစ်ကူးရာအရပ် ၌ သတ်ကြ၏။ ထိုအခါ ဧဖရိမ်အမျိုးသား လေးသောင်းနှစ်ထောင် သေကြ၏။
