When the king of Ai saw it, they hurried and rose up early, and the men of the city went out against Israel to battle, he and all his people, at the time appointed, before the Arabah; but he did not know that there was an ambush against him behind the city.

পরে যখন অয়ের রাজা তা দেখলেন, তখন নগরের লোকেরা, রাজা ও তাঁর সকল লোক, তাড়াতাড়ি খুব ভোরে উঠে ইস্রায়েলের সঙ্গে যুদ্ধ করতে বের হয়ে নির্ধারিত স্থানে অরাবা উপত্যকার সামনে গেলেন; কিন্তু তাঁর বিরুদ্ধে এক দল সৈন্য নগরের পিছনে লুকিয়ে আছে, তা তিনি জানতেন না।
অয়ের রাজা যখন তা দেখলেন, তিনি ও নগরের সব লোকজন তখন ভোরবেলায় অরাবার দিকে নজর না দিয়ে তাড়াহুড়ো করে নির্দিষ্ট এক স্থানে ইস্রায়েলের সঙ্গে যুদ্ধ করার জন্য বেরিয়ে পড়লেন। কিন্তু তিনি জানতেন না যে নগরের পিছন দিকে তাঁর বিরুদ্ধে একদল সৈন্য ওৎ পেতে লুকিয়ে আছে।

Ce qu’ayant vu le roi de Haï, il se hâta dès le matin, et sortit avec toutes les troupes de la ville, et dirigea l’armée vers le désert, ignorant que derrière il y avait une embuscade.

Quand le roi d’Aï s’en aperçut, il fit lever en toute hâte les habitants de la ville, et ils s’avancèrent vers Israël pour livrer bataille lui et tout son peuple à l’endroit désigné, en avant de la plaine, le roi ne se doutant pas qu’une embuscade le menaçait derrière la ville.

Und es geschah, als der König von Ai es sah, da eilten die Männer der Stadt und machten sich früh auf und zogen hinaus, Israel entgegen zum Streit, er und all sein Volk, an den bestimmten Ort, vor der Ebene. Er wußte aber nicht, daß ihm im Rücken der Stadt ein Hinterhalt gelegt war.

જયારે આયના રાજાએ તે જોયું ત્યારે એમ બન્યું કે, તે અને તેના સૈનિકો વહેલા ઊઠયા અને યર્દન નદીની ખીણ તરફ ઇઝરાયલ પર હુમલો કરવાને ધસી આવ્યા. તેને ખબર ન હતી કે છાપો મારનારાઓ પાછળથી હુમલો કરવાને માટે નગરમાં લાગ જોઈ રહ્યા છે.

Begitu raja Ai melihat pasukan Israel di seberang lembah, dia mengumpulkan orang-orang kota itu dan mereka segera keluar pagi-pagi benar ke arah lembah Yordan untuk berperang melawan Israel. Dia tidak tahu bahwa sebagian pasukan Israel sedang bersembunyi di belakang kota untuk menyerbu.
