For the children of Israel walked forty years in the wilderness until all the nation, even the men of war who came out of Egypt, were consumed, because they did not listen to the LORD’s voice. কাৰণ মিচৰৰ পৰা ওলাই অাহোতে ইস্ৰায়েলৰ সন্তান সকলে চল্লিশ বছৰ মৰুভূমিত ভ্ৰমণ কৰি আছিল; তাতে যিহোৱাৰ গোটেই জাতিৰ লোকসকল, বিশেষকৈ যুদ্ধ কৰিব পৰা পুৰুষসকলে যিহোৱাৰ কথা নুশুনাৰ বাবে বিনষ্ট হৈছিল৷ যিহোৱাই আমাক যি দেশ দিম বুলি আমাৰ পূৰ্বপুৰুষসকলৰ আগত প্ৰতিজ্ঞা কৰিছিল, সেই গাখীৰ আৰু মৌজোল বৈ থকা দেশ তেওঁলোকক দেখিবলৈ নিদিওঁ বুলি যিহোৱাই তেওঁলোকৰ আগত শপত খাইছিল।

ಐಗುಪ್ತದಿಂದ ಬಂದ ಇಸ್ರಾಯೇಲ್ಯರು ಯೆಹೋವನ ಮಾತನ್ನು ಕೇಳದೆ ಹೋಗಿದ್ದರಿಂದ ಅವರು ತಮ್ಮ ಭಟರೆಲ್ಲರು ಸಂಹಾರವಾಗುವ ತನಕ ನಲವತ್ತು ವರ್ಷ ಅರಣ್ಯದಲ್ಲೇ ಅಲೆಯುತ್ತಿರಬೇಕಾಯಿತು. ಯೆಹೋವನು ತಾನು ಆ ಜನರ ಪೂರ್ವಿಕರಿಗೆ ವಾಗ್ದಾನ ಮಾಡಿದ್ದ ಹಾಲೂ ಜೇನೂ ಹರಿಯುವ ದೇಶದಲ್ಲಿ ಅವರನ್ನು ಸೇರಿಸುವುದಿಲ್ಲವೆಂದು ಆಣೆಯಿಟ್ಟನು.
