जो आज्ञा यहोवा ने मूसा के द्वारा दी थी उसके अनुसार इस्राएलियों ने लेवियों को चराइयों समेत ये नगर चिट्ठी डाल डालकर दिए।
इस्राएलियों ने लेवियों को पशु चराने के लिए भी नगर दिए, जैसा मोशेह को याहवेह का आदेश था.

യഹോവ മോശെമുഖാന്തരം കല്പിച്ചതുപോലെ യിസ്രായേൽമക്കൾ ലേവ്യൎക്കു ഈ പട്ടണങ്ങളും അവയുടെ പുല്പുറങ്ങളും നറുക്കുപ്രകാരം കൊടുത്തു.
ഇപ്രകാരം ഇസ്രായേൽമക്കൾ ലേവ്യർക്ക് ഈ പട്ടണങ്ങളും അവയുടെ പുൽമേടുകളും യഹോവ മോശമുഖാന്തരം കൽപ്പിച്ചതിൻപ്രകാരം വിഭജിച്ചുകൊടുത്തു.
