| فَحَلَفَ جَدَلِيَا بْنُ أَخِيقَامَ بْنِ شَافَانَ لَهُمْ وَلِرِجَالِهِمْ: «لاَ تَخَافُوا مِنْ خِدْمَةِ الْكَلْدَانِيِّينَ. أَقِيمُوا فِي الْبِلاَدِ وَاخْضَعُوا لِمَلِكِ بَابِلَ فَتَنَالُوا خَيْراً. |

Da richtete Gedalja, der Sohn Ahikams, des Sohnes Saphans, an sie und ihre Leute unter feierlicher Anrufung Gottes folgende Ansprache: »Fürchtet euch nicht davor, den Chaldäern untertan zu sein! Bleibt im Lande wohnen und unterwerft euch dem König von Babylon: ihr werdet euch gut dabei stehen!
Und Gedalja, der Sohn Achikams, des Sohnes Saphans, schwur ihnen und ihren Leuten also: Fürchtet euch nicht davor, den Chaldäern zu dienen; bleibet im Lande und dienet dem König von Babel, so wird es euch wohl ergehen!
