So Zedekiah the king swore secretly to Jeremiah, saying, “As the LORD lives, who made our souls, I will not put you to death, neither will I give you into the hand of these men who seek your life.”

| فَحَلَفَ الْمَلِكُ صِدْقِيَّا لإِرْمِيَا سِرّاً قَائِلاً: «حَيٌّ هُوَ الرَّبُّ الَّذِي صَنَعَ لَنَا أَنْفُسَنَا، أَنِّي لاَ أَقْتُلُكَ وَلاَ أُسَلِّمُكَ إِلَى يَدِ أَعْدَائِكَ طَالِبِي نَفْسِكَ». |
তাতে চিদিকিয়া ৰজাই গুপুতে যিৰিমিয়াৰ আগত শপত খাই ক’লে, “আমাৰ এই জীৱান্মাৰ সৃষ্টিকৰ্ত্তা যিহোৱাৰ জীৱনৰ শপত, মই তোমাক বধ নকৰোঁ, আৰু তোমাৰ প্ৰাণ লবলৈ বিচাৰি ফুৰা এই লোকসকলৰ হাততো তোমাক সমৰ্পণ নকৰোঁ।”

οὕτως εἶπεν κύριος διαλιπέτω ἡ φωνή σου ἀπὸ κλαυθμοῦ καὶ οἱ ὀφθαλμοί σου ἀπὸ δακρύων σου ὅτι ἔστιν μισθὸς τοῖς σοῖς ἔργοις καὶ ἐπιστρέψουσιν ἐκ γῆς ἐχθρῶν
ત્યારે સિદકિયા રાજાએ ગુપ્તમાં યર્મિયાને એવું વચન આપ્યું કે, “આપણને જીવન બક્ષનાર સૈન્યોના યહોવાહના સમ ખાઈને કહું છું કે, હું તને મારી નાખીશ નહિ કે તારો જીવ લેવા શોધે છે તેઓના હાથમાં તને સોંપીશ નહિ.”

तब सिदकिय्याह राजा ने अकेले में यिर्मयाह से शपथ खाई, “यहोवा जिसने हमारा यह जीव रचा है, उसके जीवन की सौगन्ध न मैं तो तुझे मरवा डालूँगा, और न उन मनुष्यों के वश में कर दूँगा जो तेरे प्राण के खोजी हैं।”
किंतु राजा सीदकियाहू ने गुप्त में येरेमियाह से शपथ खाते हुए कहा: “जीवित याहवेह की शपथ, जिन्होंने आपको और मुझे जीवन दिया है, यह निश्चित है, कि मैं न तो आपका वध करवाऊंगा न ही आपको इन व्यक्तियों के हाथों में सौंपूंगा, जो आपके प्राण लेने को तैयार हैं.”

Då gav konung Sidkia Jeremia sin ed, hemligen, och sade: »Så sant HERREN lever, han som har givit oss detta vårt liv: jag skall icke låta döda dig, ej heller skall jag lämna dig i händerna på dessa män som stå efter ditt liv.»

Padixaⱨ Zǝdǝkiya Yǝrǝmiyaƣa astirtin ⱪǝsǝm iqip uningƣa: «Bizgǝ jan-tiniⱪ ata ⱪilƣan Pǝrwǝrdigarning ⱨayati bilǝn ⱪǝsǝm iqimǝnki, mǝn seni ɵlümgǝ mǝⱨkum ⱪilmaymǝn, yaki seni jeningni izdigüqi kixilǝrning ⱪoliƣa tapxurmaymǝn» — dedi.
