Jeremiah 17:11
As the partridge that sits on eggs which she has not laid, so is he who gets riches, and not by right. In the middle of his days, they will leave him. At his end, he will be a fool.

একটি তিতির পাখী একটি ডিমে তা দিয়ে বাচ্চা ফোঁটায়, যে ডিমটি তার নিজের নয়। কোন একজন অসৎ উপায়ে ধনী হয়; কিন্তু তার জীবনের মাঝামাঝি দিনের, সেই ধনসম্পদ তাকে ছেড়ে চলে যাবে; আর শেষে সে বোকা হয়ে যাবে।”
অন্যের ডিমে তিতির পাখি তা দিয়ে যেমন বাচ্চা তোলে, অসৎ উপায়ে যে ধন উপার্জন করে, সে তেমনই। তার জীবনের মাঝামাঝি বয়সে, ধন তাকে ছেড়ে যাবে, পরিশেষে সে এক মূর্খ প্রতিপন্ন হবে।

So, when those people have lived only half of the years [that they expect to live], their wealth will disappear. Then [other people will realize that] those rich people have been foolish.

जो अन्याय से धन बटोरता है वह उस तीतर के समान होता है जो दूसरी चिड़िया के दिए हुए अण्डों को सेती है, उसकी आधी आयु में ही वह उस धन को छोड़ जाता है, और अन्त में वह मूर्ख ही ठहरता है।
जिस प्रकार तीतर उन अण्डों को सेती है जो उसके द्वारा दिए हुए नहीं होते, उस व्यक्ति की स्थिति भी इसी तीतर के सदृश होती है जो धन जमा तो कर लेता है. किंतु अनुचित रीति से ऐसा धन असमय ही उसके हाथ से निकल जाएगा, तथा अपने जीवन के अंत में वह स्वयं मूर्ख प्रमाणित हो जायेगा.

Bagaikan burung mengerami telur yang bukan miliknya, begitulah orang yang tak jujur mendapat harta. Pada usia setengah baya ia akan kehilangan semua hartanya. Pada akhir hidupnya terbukti ia orang yang bodoh sekali.
Seperti ayam hutan yang mengerami yang tidak ditelurkannya, demikianlah orang yang menggaruk kekayaan secara tidak halal, pada pertengahan usianya ia akan kehilangan semuanya, dan pada kesudahan usianya ia terkenal sebagai seorang bebal.

鷓鴣のおのれの生ざる卵をいだくが如く不義をもて財を獲る者あり其人は命の半にてこれに離れその終に愚なる者とならん
しゃこが自分が産んだのではない卵を抱くように、不正な財産を得る者がある。その人は一生の半ばにそれから離れて、その終りには愚かな者となる。
