وَلَكِنْ إِنْ رَأَى الرَّقِيبُ الْعَدُوَّ مُقْبِلاً وَلَمْ يَنْفُخْ بِالْبُوقِ، فَلَمْ يَحْتَرِسِ الشَّعْبُ، فَأَقْدَمَ الْعَدُوُّ وَقَتَلَ نَفْساً مِنْهُمْ، فَالْقَتِيلُ قَدْ لاَقَى حَتْفَهُ جَزَاءَ ذَنْبِهِ، أَمَّا دَمُهُ فَمِنْ يَدِ الرَّقِيبِ أَطْلُبُهُ.

و اگردیده بان شمشیر را بیند که می‌آید و کرنا راننواخته قوم را متنبه نسازد و شمشیر آمده، کسی را از میان ایشان گرفتار سازد، آن شخص در گناه خود گرفتار شده است، اما خون او را از دست دیده بان خواهم طلبید.

Nếu người canh gác thấy kẻ thù đến, nhưng không thổi kèn báo động cho dân chúng, thì người ấy phải chịu trách nhiệm về tình trạng của dân. Dân chúng sẽ chết trong tội lỗi mình, nhưng Ta sẽ quy trách nhiệm cho người canh gác về cái chết của dân chúng.’
