Tell them, ‘“As I live,” says the Lord GOD, “I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked, but that the wicked turn from his way and live. Turn, turn from your evil ways! For why will you die, house of Israel?”’

| قُلْ لَهُمْ: حَيٌّ أَنَا يَقُولُ السَّيِّدُ الرَّبُّ، إِنِّي لاَ أَبْتَهِجُ بِمَوْتِ الشِّرِّيرِ بَلْ بِأَنْ يَرْتَدِعَ عَنْ غِيِّهِ وَيَحْيَا. ارْجِعُوا، ارْجِعُوا عَنْ طُرُقِكُمِ الرَّدِيئَةِ! لِمَاذَا تَمُوتُونَ يَاشَعْبَ إِسْرَائِيلَ؟ |

Zeg tot hen: Zo waarachtig als Ik leef, spreekt de Heere HEERE, zo Ik lust heb in den dood des goddelozen! maar daarin heb Ik lust, dat de goddeloze zich bekere van zijn weg en leve. Bekeert u, bekeert u van uw boze wegen, want waarom zoudt gij sterven, o huis Israels?
Ge moet tot hen zeggen: Zowaar Ik leef, spreekt Jahweh, de Heer: Ik verheug Mij erover, niet dat de zondaar sterft, maar dat de zondaar zijn gedrag verbetert en blijft leven! Bekeert u, bekeert u van uw zondig gedrag; want waarom zoudt ge sterven, huis van Israël?

Thật như Ta hằng sống, Chúa Hằng Hữu Chí Cao phán, Ta chẳng vui gì khi kẻ ác chết. Ta chỉ muốn chúng xoay khỏi đường tội ác của mình để chúng có thể sống. Hãy quay lại! Hãy lìa bỏ tội ác mình, hỡi dân tộc Ít-ra-ên! Tại sao các ngươi muốn chết?
