Otherwise, the avenger of blood might pursue the man slayer while hot anger is in his heart and overtake him, because the way is long, and strike him mortally, even though he was not worthy of death, because he did not hate him in time past.

لِئَلاَّ يَسْعَى طَالِبُ الثَّأْرِ وَرَاءَهُ عِنْدَ احْتِدَامِ نِقْمَتِهِ وَيُدْرِكَهُ إِذَا طَالَتِ الطَّرِيقُ وَيَقْتُلَهُ، مَعَ أَنَّهُ لاَ يَسْتَحِقُّ جَزَاءَ الْمَوْتِ، لأَنَّ الْقَاتِلَ لَمْ يُضْمِرِ الْبَغْضَاءَ لِلْمَقْتُولِ مِنْ قَبْلُ
তেওঁ এইদৰে কৰা উচিত, কিয়নো ৰক্তপাতৰ প্রতিশোধ লবলৈ নিহত ব্যক্তিৰ কোনো নিকট আত্মীয়ই খঙতে তেওঁক পাছে পাছে খেদি যাব পাৰে; আশ্রয় নগৰখনৰ বাট বহু দূৰ হ’লে, নগৰত সোমোৱাৰ আগেয়ে আত্মীয়ই ক্রুদ্ধ হৈ তেওঁক ধৰি বধ কৰিব পাৰে; যদিও সেই ব্যক্তি মৃত্যুদণ্ডৰ যোগ্য নাছিল; কিয়নো তেওঁ মনত কোনো ঘৃণা লৈ সেই ব্যক্তিজনক হত্যা কৰা নাছিল।

তা না হলে রক্তের প্রতিশোধ যার নেওয়ার কথা সে রাগের বশে তাকে তাড়া করতে পারে আর আশ্রয়-নগর কাছে না হলে তাকে মেরে ফেলতে পারে, যদিও মনে হিংসা নিয়ে মেরে ফেলেনি বলে মৃত্যু তার প্রাপ্য শাস্তি নয়।

Because he accidentally killed someone, and because the man was not his enemy, he can try to run to one of those cities. If there were only one city, it may be a long distance to that city. Then if the relative of the man who was killed [MTY], the man who is supposed/expected to get revenge, is very angry, he may be able to catch the other person before he arrives at that city.

Autrement le vengeur du sang, poursuivant le meurtrier dans l'ardeur de sa colère, l'atteindrait, si le chemin était trop long, et lui porterait un coup mortel; et pourtant cet homme n'aurait pas mérité la mort, puisqu'il n'avait pas auparavant de haine contre la victime.

damit nicht der Bluträcher, wenn er in leidenschaftliche Erregung geraten ist, dem Totschläger nacheilt und ihn wegen der Länge des Weges einholt und totschlägt, wiewohl er des Todes nicht schuldig ist, weil er (dem andern) ja von früher her nicht feind gewesen war.

Auf daß nicht der Bluträcher dem Totschläger nachsetze, da sein Herz erhitzt ist und ihn erreiche, wenn ihm der Weg zu viel ist, und schlage ihn am Leben, so doch kein Gericht des Todes an ihm ist, weil er keinen Haß gegen ihn hatte von gestern und ehegestern.
