The king and his men went to Jerusalem against the Jebusites, the inhabitants of the land, who spoke to David, saying, “The blind and the lame will keep you out of here,” thinking, “David cannot come in here.”

ثُمَّ تَقَدَّمَ الْمَلِكُ بِقُوَّاتِهِ نَحْوَ أُورُشَلِيمَ لِمُحَارَبَةِ أَهْلِهَا الْيَبُوسِيِّينَ. فَقَالُوا لِدَاوُدَ: «لَنْ تَسْتَطِيعَ اقْتِحَامَ الْمَدِينَةِ، لأَنَّهُ حَتَّى فِي وُسْعِ الْعُمْيَانِ وَالْعُرْجِ أَنْ يَصُدُّوكَ عَنْهَا».

রাজামশাই ও তাঁর লোকজন সেই যিবূষীয়দের আক্রমণ করার জন্য জেরুশালেমের দিকে যুদ্ধযাত্রা করলেন, যারা সেখানে বসবাস করত। যিবূষীয়রা দাউদকে বলল, “আপনি এখানে ঢুকতে পারবেন না; এমনকি অন্ধ ও খঞ্জ লোকরাও আপনাকে তাড়িয়ে দেবে।”

Und der König zog hin mit seinen Männern zu Jerusalem wider die Jebusiter, die im Lande wohneten. Sie aber sprachen zu David: Du wirst nicht hie hereinkommen, sondern Blinde und Lahme werden dich abtreiben. Das meinten sie aber, daß David nicht würde da hineinkommen.

Sesudah dilantik sebagai raja, Daud memimpin pasukannya untuk menyerang Yerusalem karena sisa orang Yebus masih menguasai kota itu. Orang-orang Yebus berkata kepada Daud, “Engkau tidak akan bisa masuk ke sini! Bahkan orang buta dan orang lumpuh di kota ini pun bisa mengusirmu keluar.” Mereka berkata demikian karena berpikir, “Daud dan pasukannya tidak akan bisa menerobos benteng kota.”
