2-Kings 6:32
But Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him. Then the king sent a man from before him; but before the messenger came to him, he said to the elders, “Do you see how this son of a murderer has sent to take away my head? Behold, when the messenger comes, shut the door, and hold the door shut against him. Is not the sound of his master’s feet behind him?”

| وَكَانَ أَلِيشَعُ جَالِسًا فِي بَيْتِهِ وَٱلشُّيُوخُ جُلُوسًا عِنْدَهُ. فَأَرْسَلَ رَجُلًا مِنْ أَمَامِهِ. وَقَبْلَمَا أَتَى ٱلرَّسُولُ إِلَيْهِ قَالَ لِلشُّيُوخِ: «هَلْ رَأَيْتُمْ أَنَّ ٱبْنَ ٱلْقَاتِلِ هَذَا قَدْ أَرْسَلَ لِكَيْ يَقْطَعَ رَأْسِي؟ ٱنْظُرُوا! إِذَا جَاءَ ٱلرَّسُولُ فَأَغْلِقُوا ٱلْبَابَ وَٱحْصُرُوهُ عِنْدَ ٱلْبَابِ. أَلَيْسَ صَوْتُ قَدَمَيْ سَيِّدِهِ وَرَاءَهُ؟». |
| وَكَانَ أَلِيشَعُ آنَئِذٍ مُجْتَمِعاً فِي بَيْتِهِ مَعَ شُيُوخِ إِسْرَائِيلَ، فَوَجَّهَ الْمَلِكُ رَسُولاً إِلَيْهِ يَتَقَدَّمُهُ. وَقَبْلَ أَنْ يَصِلَ الرَّسُولُ قَالَ أَلِيشَعُ لِلشُّيُوخِ: «أَرَأَيْتُمْ كَيْفَ أَنَّ هَذَا الْقَاتِلَ قَدْ أَرْسَلَ رَسُولاً لِيَقْطَعَ رَأْسِي؟ فَحَالَمَا يَأْتِي الرَّسُولُ أَغْلِقُوا الْبَابَ وَاتْرُكُوهُ مُوْصَداً فِي وَجْهِهِ. فَإِنَّ وَقْعَ خَطَوَاتِ سَيِّدِهِ يَتَجَاوَبُ وَرَاءَهُ» |

Therefore, watch, and when the messenger arrives, close the door. And you shall not permit him to enter. For behold, the sound of his lord’s feet is behind him.”

Before the messenger came to him, he himself said to the elders, Do ye see how this son of a murderer has sent to take away my head? See, when the messenger comes; shut the door, and keep him off with the door: is not the sound of his master's feet behind him?

So he sent a man before: and before that messenger came, he said to the ancients: Do you know that this son of a murderer hath sent to cut off my head? Look then, when the messenger shall come, shut the door, and suffer him not to come in: for behold the sound of his master’s feet is behind him.
Elisha was sitting in his house with the elders. The king had sent a messenger on ahead, but before he got there, Elisha told the elders, “Can you see how this murderer is sending someone to cut off my head? So, as soon as the messenger arrives, close the door and hold it shut against him. Isn't that the sound of his master's footsteps following him?”

So the king sent an officer to get Elisha. Before the officer arrived, Elisha was sitting in his house with some Israeli elders who were talking with him. Elisha said to them, “That murderer, [the king of Israel, ] is sending someone here to kill me. Listen: When he arrives, shut the door and do not allow him to come in. And the king will be coming right behind that officer!”

Seht zu, sobald der Bote kommt, verschließt die Thür und stemmt euch mit der Thüre gegen ihn! Hinter ihm drein sind ja schon die Tritte seines Herrn zu vernehmen.

Sehet zu, wenn der Bote kommt, daß ihr die Tür zuschließet und stoßet ihn mit der Tür weg; siehe, das Rauschen seines HERRN Füße folget ihm nach.

Gebt wohl acht! Sobald der Bote kommt, verschließt die Tür und stemmt euch mit der Tür gegen ihn! Ist nicht schon der Schall der Schritte seines Herrn hinter ihm hörbar?«

Ehe der Bote zu ihm kam, sprach er zu den Ältesten: Sehet ihr, daß der Sohn dieses Mörders hersendet, mir den Kopf wegzunehmen; sehet, wenn der Bote kommt, verschließt die Tür und klemmt ihn in die Tür! Ist nicht der Schall der Füße seines Herrn hinter ihm?
