All the people of the land went to the house of Baal, and broke it down. They broke his altars and his images in pieces thoroughly, and killed Mattan the priest of Baal before the altars. The priest appointed officers over the LORD’s house.

| ثُمَّ تَوَجَّهَ جَمِيعُ شَعْبِ الأَرْضِ إِلَى مَعْبَدِ الْبَعْلِ، وَهَدَمُوا مَذَابِحَهُ وَحَطَّمُوا تَمَاثِيلَهُ، وَقَتَلُوا مَتَّانَ كَاهِنَ الْبَعْلِ أَمَامَ الْمَذْبَحِ. وأَقَامَ الْكَاهِنُ حُرَّاساً عَلَى بَيْتِ الرَّبِّ. |

দেশের প্রজারা সবাই বায়ালের মন্দিরে গিয়ে সেটি ভেঙে ফেলেছিল। তারা যজ্ঞবেদি ও প্রতিমার মূর্তিগুলিও ভেঙে টুকরো টুকরো করে দিয়েছিল এবং বায়ালের যাজক মত্তনকে যজ্ঞবেদির সামনেই হত্যা করল। পরে যাজক যিহোয়াদা সদাপ্রভুর মন্দিরে পাহারাদার বসিয়ে দিলেন।

І ввійшов увесь наро́д Кра́ю до Ваалового дому, та й прозбива́ли його та же́ртівники його, і бовва́нів його зовсі́м полама́ли, а Маттана, Ваалового священика, убили перед же́ртівниками. А при Господньому домі священик поставив ва́рти.
