عَلَى أَنَّ هذِهِ الْحَقِيقَةَ لاَ يَعْرِفُهَا الْجَمِيعُ: فَبَعْضُهُمْ قَدْ تَعَوَّدُوا الظَّنَّ بِأَنَّ الأَصْنَامَ مَوْجُودَةٌ فِعْلاً، وَمَازَالُوا يَأْكُلُونَ مِنْ تِلْكَ الذَّبَائِحِ كَأَنَّهَا فِعْلاً مُقَدَّمَةٌ لَهَا، فَيَتَدَنَّسُ ضَمِيرُهُمْ بِسَبَبِ ضَعْفِهِ.

তবে সবার মধ্যে এ জ্ঞান নেই; কিন্তু কিছু লোক আজও প্রতিমার সঙ্গে সম্পর্ক থাকায় প্রতিমার কাছে উত্সর্গ করা বলি মনে করে সেই বলি ভোজন করে এবং তাদের বিবেক দুর্বল বলে তা দূষিত হয়।
কিন্তু প্রত্যেকেই একথা জানে না। কিছু সংখ্যক মানুষ প্রতিমার বিষয়ে এমনই অভ্যস্ত, তারা যখন এ ধরনের খাবার গ্রহণ করে, তারা মনে করে যে, সেই খাবার যেন কোনো প্রতিমার কাছে উৎসর্গ করা হয়েছে, আর যেহেতু তাদের বিবেক দুর্বল, তাই তা কলুষিত হয়।

But knowledge is not in everyone. For some persons, even now, with consent to an idol, eat what has been sacrificed to an idol. And their conscience, being infirm, becomes polluted.

Hati mereka mudah merasa bersalah karena terpengaruh oleh agama mereka yang lama.
