< Psalms 79 >

1 Saamu ti Asafu. Ọlọ́run, àwọn orílẹ̀-èdè ti wá ilẹ̀ ìní rẹ; wọ́n ti ba tẹmpili mímọ́ rẹ jẹ́, wọn di Jerusalẹmu kù sí òkìtì àlàpà.
A Psalm of Asaph. O God, nations have come into Thy inheritance, They have defiled Thy holy temple, They made Jerusalem become heaps,
2 Wọn ti fi ara òkú àwọn ìránṣẹ́ rẹ fún àwọn ẹyẹ ojú ọ̀run ní oúnjẹ, ẹran-ara àwọn ènìyàn mímọ́ rẹ̀ fún ẹranko ilẹ̀.
They gave the dead bodies of Thy servants Food for the fowls of the heavens, The flesh of Thy saints For the wild beast of the earth.
3 Wọ́n tu ẹ̀jẹ̀ jáde gẹ́gẹ́ bí omi yí Jerusalẹmu ká, kò sì ṣí àwọn tí yóò sìn wọ́n.
They have shed their blood As water round about Jerusalem, And there is none burying.
4 Àwa di ohun ẹ̀gàn sí àwọn tí ó yí wa ká, àbùkù àti ìfiṣe ẹlẹ́yà sí àwọn tí ó yí wa ká.
We have been a reproach to our neighbours, A scorn and a derision to our surrounders.
5 Nígbà wo, Olúwa? Ní ìwọ ó máa bínú títí láé? Yóò ti pẹ́ tó ti owú rẹ yóò ha jò bí iná?
Till when, O Jehovah? art Thou angry for ever? Thy jealousy doth burn as fire.
6 Tú ìbínú rẹ jáde sí orílẹ̀-èdè tí kò ní ìmọ̀ rẹ, lórí àwọn ìjọba tí kò pe orúkọ rẹ;
Pour Thy fury on the nations who have not known Thee, And on kingdoms that have not called in Thy name.
7 nítorí wọ́n ti run Jakọbu wọ́n sì sọ ibùgbé rẹ di ahoro.
For [one] hath devoured Jacob, And his habitation they have made desolate.
8 Má ṣe ka ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ àwọn baba wa sí wa lọ́rùn jẹ́ kí àánú rẹ wá kánkán láti bá wa, nítorí tí a rẹ̀ wá sílẹ̀ gidigidi.
Remember not for us the iniquities of forefathers, Haste, let Thy mercies go before us, For we have been very weak.
9 Ràn wá lọ́wọ́, Ọlọ́run Olùgbàlà wa, fún ògo orúkọ rẹ; gbà wá kí o sì dárí ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ wa jì nítorí orúkọ rẹ.
Help us, O God of our salvation, Because of the honour of Thy name, And deliver us, and cover over our sins, For Thy name's sake.
10 Àwọn orílẹ̀-èdè yóò máa wí pé, “Níbo ni Ọlọ́run wọn wà?” Ní ojú wa, kí a mọ̀ láàrín àwọn orílẹ̀-èdè kí ó sì gbẹ̀san àwọn ẹ̀jẹ̀ ìránṣẹ́ rẹ tí a tú jáde.
Why do the nations say, 'Where [is] their God?' Let be known among the nations before our eyes, The vengeance of the blood of Thy servants that is shed.
11 Jẹ́ kí ìmí ẹ̀dùn oǹdè náà wá síwájú rẹ, gẹ́gẹ́ bí títóbi agbára rẹ ìwọ ṣe ìtọ́jú àwọn ti a dá lẹ́bi ikú.
Let the groaning of the prisoner come in before Thee, According to the greatness of Thine arm, Leave Thou the sons of death.
12 San án padà sí àyà àwọn aládùúgbò wa nígbà méje nípa ẹ̀gàn tí wọn ti gàn ọ́ Olúwa.
And turn Thou back to our neighbours, Sevenfold unto their bosom, their reproach, Wherewith they reproached Thee, O Lord.
13 Nígbà náà àwa ènìyàn rẹ, àti àgùntàn pápá rẹ, yóò fi ọpẹ́ fún ọ títí láé; láti ìran dé ìran ni àwa ó fi ìyìn rẹ hàn.
And we, Thy people, and the flock of Thy pasture, We give thanks to Thee to the age, To all generations we recount Thy praise!
