< Psalms 39 >

1 Fún adarí orin. Fún Jedutuni. Saamu Dafidi. Mo wí pé, “Èmi yóò ṣọ́ ọ̀nà mi kí èmi kí ó má fi ahọ́n mi ṣẹ̀; èmi yóò fi ìjánu kó ara mi ní ẹnu níwọ̀n ìgbà tí ènìyàn búburú bá ń bẹ ní iwájú mi.”
Unto the end, for Idithun himself, a canticle of David. I said: I will take heed to my ways: that I sin not with my tongue. I have set guard to my mouth, when the sinner stood against me.
2 Mo fi ìdákẹ́ ya odi; mo tilẹ̀ pa ẹnu mi mọ́ kúrò nínú ọ̀rọ̀ rere; ìbànújẹ́ mi sì pọ̀ sí i.
I was dumb, and was humbled, and kept silence from good things: and my sorrow was renewed.
3 Àyà mi gbóná ní inú mi. Nígbà tí mo ń ṣàṣàrò, iná ràn; nígbà náà ni mo fi ahọ́n mi sọ̀rọ̀:
My heart grew hot within me: and in my meditation a fire shall flame out.
4 “Olúwa, jẹ́ kí èmi kí ó mọ òpin mi, àti ìwọ̀n ọjọ́ mi, bí ó ti rí kí èmi kí o le mọ ìgbà tí mó ní níhìn-ín.
I spoke with my tongue: O Lord, make me know my end. And what is the number of my days: that I may know what is wanting to me.
5 Ìwọ ti ṣe ayé mi bí ìbú àtẹ́lẹwọ́, ọjọ́ orí mi sì dàbí asán ní iwájú rẹ. Dájúdájú olúkúlùkù ènìyàn nínú ìjókòó rere rẹ̀ jásí asán pátápátá. (Sela)
Behold thou hast made my days measurable: and my substance is as nothing before thee. And indeed all things are vanity: every man living.
6 “Nítòótọ́ ni olúkúlùkù ń rìn kiri bí òjìji. Nítòótọ́ ni wọ́n ń yọ ara wọn lẹ́nu lórí asán; wọ́n ń kó ọrọ̀ jọ, wọn kò sì mọ ẹni tí yóò ko lọ.
Surely man passeth as an image: yea, and he is disquieted in vain. He storeth up: and he knoweth not for whom he shall gather these things.
7 “Ṣùgbọ́n ní ìsinsin yìí, Olúwa, kín ni mo ń dúró dè? Ìrètí mí ń bẹ ní ọ̀dọ̀ rẹ.
And now what is my hope? is it not the Lord? and my substance is with thee.
8 Gbà mí lọ́wọ́ ìrékọjá mi gbogbo. Kí o má sì sọ mí di ẹni ẹ̀gàn àwọn ènìyàn búburú.
Deliver thou me from all my iniquities: thou hast made me a reproach to the fool.
9 Mo dákẹ́ jẹ́ẹ́; èmi kò sì ya ẹnu mi, nítorí wí pé ìwọ ni ó ṣe é.
I was dumb, and I opened not my mouth, because thou hast done it.
10 Mú pàṣán rẹ kúrò ní ara mi; èmí ṣègbé tán nípa lílù ọwọ́ rẹ.
Remove thy scourges from me. The strength of thy hand hath made me faint in rebukes:
11 Ìwọ fi ìbáwí kìlọ̀ fún ènìyàn nítorí ẹ̀ṣẹ̀, ìwọ a mú ẹwà rẹ parun bí kòkòrò aṣọ; nítòótọ́ asán ni ènìyàn gbogbo.
Thou hast corrected man for iniquity. And thou hast made his soul to waste away like a spider: surely in vain is any man disquieted.
12 “Gbọ́ àdúrà mi, Olúwa, kí o sì fetí sí igbe mi; kí o má ṣe di etí rẹ sí ẹkún mi. Nítorí àlejò ni èmi lọ́dọ̀ rẹ, àti àtìpó, bí gbogbo àwọn baba mi ti rí.
Hear my prayer, O Lord, and my supplication: give ear to my tears. Be not silent: for I am a stranger with thee, and a sojourner as all my fathers were.
13 Dá mi sí, kí èmi lè ní agbára, kí èmi tó lọ kúrò níhìn-ín yìí, àti kí èmi ó tó ṣe aláìsí.”
O forgive me, that I may be refreshed, before I go hence, and be no more.
