< Nehemiah 8 >

1 gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn kó ara wọn jọ bí ẹnìkan ní gbangba ìta níwájú ibodè omi. Wọ́n sọ fún Esra akọ̀wé pé kí ó gbé ìwé òfin Mose jáde, èyí tí Olúwa ti pàṣẹ fún Israẹli.
All the people gathered themselves together as one man into the wide place that was in front of the water gate; and they spoke to Ezra the scribe to bring the book of the law of Moses, which the LORD had commanded to Israel.
2 Ní ọjọ́ kìn-ín-ní oṣù keje ni àlùfáà Esra gbé ìwé òfin jáde ní iwájú ìjọ ènìyàn, èyí tí ó jẹ́ àpapọ̀ ọkùnrin àti obìnrin àti gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn tí wọ́n le è gbọ́ ọ ní àgbọ́yé.
Ezra the priest brought the law before the assembly, both men and women, and all who could hear with understanding, on the first day of the seventh month.
3 Ó kà á sókè láti òwúrọ̀ títí di ọ̀sán bí ó ti kọjú sí ìta ní iwájú ibodè omi ní ojú u gbogbo ọkùnrin, obìnrin àti àwọn ènìyàn tókù tí òye le è yé tí wọ́n wà níbẹ̀. Gbogbo ènìyàn sì fetísílẹ̀ sí ìwé òfin náà pẹ̀lú ìfarabalẹ̀.
He read from it before the wide place that was in front of the water gate from early morning until midday, in the presence of the men and the women, and of those who could understand. The ears of all the people were attentive to the book of the law.
4 Akọ̀wé Esra dìde dúró lórí i pẹpẹ ìdúrólé tí a fi igi kàn fún ètò yìí. Ní ẹ̀gbẹ́ rẹ̀ ọ̀tún ni Mattitiah, Ṣema, Anaiah, Uriah, Hilkiah àti Maaseiah gbé dúró sí, ní ẹ̀gbẹ́ òsì rẹ̀ ní Pedaiah, Misaeli, Malkiah, Haṣumu, Haṣabadana, Sekariah àti Meṣullamu dúró sí.
Ezra the scribe stood on a pulpit of wood, which they had made for the purpose; and beside him stood Mattithiah, Shema, Anaiah, Uriah, Hilkiah, and Maaseiah, on his right hand; and on his left hand, Pedaiah, Mishael, Malchijah, Hashum, Hashbaddanah, Zechariah, and Meshullam.
5 Esra ṣí ìwé náà, gbogbo ènìyàn sì le rí í nítorí ó dúró níbi tí ó ga ju gbogbo ènìyàn lọ; bí ó sì ti ṣí ìwé náà, gbogbo ènìyàn dìde dúró.
Ezra opened the book in the sight of all the people (for he was above all the people), and when he opened it, all the people stood up.
Then Ezra blessed the LORD, the great God. All the people answered, “Amen, Amen,” with the lifting up of their hands. They bowed their heads, and worshipped the LORD with their faces to the ground.
7 Àwọn Lefi—Jeṣua, Bani, Ṣerebiah, Jamini, Akkubu, Ṣabbetai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Asariah, Josabadi, Hanani àti Pelaiah—kọ́ wọn ni òfin náà bí àwọn ènìyàn ṣe wà ní ìdúró síbẹ̀.
Also Jeshua, Bani, Sherebiah, Jamin, Akkub, Shabbethai, Hodiah, Maaseiah, Kelita, Azariah, Jozabad, Hanan, Pelaiah, and the Levites, caused the people to understand the law; and the people stayed in their place.
8 Wọ́n kà láti inú ìwé òfin Ọlọ́run, wọ́n túmọ̀ rẹ̀, wọ́n ṣe àlàyé kí ohun tí wọ́n kà bá à le yé àwọn ènìyàn yékéyéké.
They read in the book, in the law of God, distinctly; and they gave the sense, so that they understood the reading.
9 Nígbà náà ni Nehemiah tí ó jẹ́ baálẹ̀, Esra àlùfáà àti akọ̀wé, àti àwọn Lefi tí wọ́n ń kọ́ àwọn ènìyàn wí fún gbogbo wọn pé, “Ọjọ́ yìí jẹ́ ọjọ́ mímọ́ fún Olúwa Ọlọ́run yín. Ẹ má ṣe ṣọ̀fọ̀ tàbí sọkún,” nítorí gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn ti ń sọkún bí wọ́n ti ń tẹ́tí sí ọ̀rọ̀ inú òfin náà.
Nehemiah, who was the governor, Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who taught the people said to all the people, “Today is holy to the LORD your God. Don’t mourn, nor weep.” For all the people wept when they heard the words of the law.
10 Nehemiah wí pé, “Ẹ lọ kí ẹ gbádùn oúnjẹ tí ẹ yàn láàyò kí ẹ sì mú ohun dídùn, kí ẹ sì mú díẹ̀ ránṣẹ́ sí àwọn tí kò ní. Ọjọ́ yìí, mímọ́ ni fún Olúwa wa. Ẹ má ṣe banújẹ́, nítorí ayọ̀ Olúwa ni agbára yín.”
Then he said to them, “Go your way. Eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to him for whom nothing is prepared, for today is holy to our Lord. Don’t be grieved, for the joy of the LORD is your strength.”
11 Àwọn ọmọ Lefi mú kí gbogbo ènìyàn dákẹ́ jẹ́, wọ́n wí pé, “Ẹ dákẹ́, nítorí mímọ́ ni ọjọ́ yìí. Ẹ má ṣe banújẹ́.”
So the Levites calmed all the people, saying, “Hold your peace, for the day is holy. Don’t be grieved.”
12 Nígbà náà ni gbogbo ènìyàn lọ láti jẹ àti láti mu, wọ́n sì fi ìpín oúnjẹ ránṣẹ́, wọ́n sì ṣe àjọyọ̀ pẹ̀lú ayọ̀ ńlá, nítorí báyìí àwọn òfin tí a sọ di mímọ́ fun wọn ti yé wọn.
All the people went their way to eat, to drink, to send portions, and to celebrate, because they had understood the words that were declared to them.
13 Ní ọjọ́ kejì oṣù náà, àwọn olórí, gbogbo ìdílé, àti àwọn àlùfáà àti àwọn ọmọ Lefi, péjọ sọ́dọ̀ Esra akọ̀wé, wọ́n fi ara balẹ̀ láti fetí sí àwọn ọ̀rọ̀ òfin.
On the second day, the heads of fathers’ households of all the people, the priests, and the Levites were gathered together to Ezra the scribe, to study the words of the law.
14 Wọ́n ri ní àkọsílẹ̀ nínú ìwé òfin, èyí tí Olúwa ti pa ní àṣẹ nípasẹ̀ Mose, kí àwọn ọmọ Israẹli gbé inú àgọ́ ní àkókò àjọ àgọ́ oṣù keje
They found written in the law how the LORD had commanded by Moses that the children of Israel should dwell in booths in the feast of the seventh month;
15 àti kí wọn kéde ọ̀rọ̀ yìí, kí wọn sì tàn án kálẹ̀ ní gbogbo ìlú wọn àti ní Jerusalẹmu: “Ẹ jáde lọ sí ìlú olókè, kí ẹ mú àwọn ẹ̀ka inú olifi àti ẹ̀ka igi olifi igbó, àti láti inú maritili, àwọn imọ̀ ọ̀pẹ àti àwọn igi tí ó léwé dáradára wá, láti ṣe àgọ́”—gẹ́gẹ́ bí a ti kọ ọ́.
and that they should publish and proclaim in all their cities and in Jerusalem, saying, “Go out to the mountain, and get olive branches, branches of wild olive, myrtle branches, palm branches, and branches of thick trees, to make temporary shelters, as it is written.”
16 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni àwọn ènìyàn jáde lọ, wọ́n sì mú àwọn ẹ̀ka wá, wọ́n sì kọ́ àgọ́ fún ara wọn sí orí òrùlé ara wọn, ní àgbàlá wọn àti ní àgbàlá ilé Ọlọ́run àti ní ìta gbangba lẹ́gbẹ̀ẹ́ ẹnu ibodè omi àti èyí tí ó wà lẹ́gbẹ̀ẹ́ ẹnu ibodè Efraimu.
So the people went out and brought them, and made themselves temporary shelters, everyone on the roof of his house, in their courts, in the courts of God’s house, in the wide place of the water gate, and in the wide place of Ephraim’s gate.
17 Gbogbo ìjọ ènìyàn tí wọ́n padà láti ìgbèkùn kọ́ àgọ́, wọ́n sì ń gbé inú wọn. Láti ọjọ́ Jeṣua ọmọ Nuni títí di ọjọ́ náà, àwọn ọmọ Israẹli kò tí ì ṣe àjọyọ̀ ọ rẹ̀ bí irú èyí. Ayọ̀ ọ wọn sì pọ̀.
All the assembly of those who had come back out of the captivity made temporary shelters and lived in the temporary shelters, for since the days of Joshua the son of Nun to that day the children of Israel had not done so. There was very great gladness.
18 Esra kà nínú ìwé òfin Ọlọ́run, bí ọjọ́ ṣe ń gorí ọjọ́, láti ọjọ́ kìn-ín-ní dé ọjọ́ ìkẹyìn. Wọ́n ṣe àjọyọ̀ àjọ náà fún ọjọ́ méje, ní ọjọ́ kẹjọ wọ́n ní àpéjọ, ní ìbámu pẹ̀lú òfin.
Also day by day, from the first day to the last day, he read in the book of the law of God. They kept the feast seven days; and on the eighth day was a solemn assembly, according to the ordinance.
