< 2 Chronicles 6 >

1 Nígbà náà ni Solomoni wí pé, “Olúwa ti sọ wí pé òun yóò máa gbé nínú òkùnkùn tí ó ṣú biribiri;
Then said Solomon, The Lord said that he would dwell in thick darkness.
2 ṣùgbọ́n èmi ti kọ́ tẹmpili dáradára fún ọ ibi tí ìwọ yóò máa gbé títí láé.”
But I have built a house to your name, holy to you, and prepared [for you] to dwell in for ever.
3 Ní ìgbà tí gbogbo ìjọ Israẹli dúró níbẹ̀, ọba yíjú padà ó sì fi ìbùkún fún gbogbo wọn.
And the king turned his face, and blessed all the congregation of Israel: and all the congregation of Israel stood by.
4 Nígbà náà ni ó sì wí pé: “Ògo ni fún Olúwa, Ọlọ́run Israẹli, tí ó fi ọwọ́ rẹ̀ mú ohun tí ó fi ẹnu rẹ̀ sọ fún Dafidi baba mi ṣẹ. Nítorí tí ó wí pé,
And he said, Blessed [be] the Lord God of Israel: he has even fulfilled with his hands as he spoke with his mouth to my father David, saying,
5 ‘Láti ọjọ́ tí èmi ti mú àwọn ènìyàn mi jáde kúrò ní ilẹ̀ Ejibiti, èmi kò yan ìlú kan nínú gbogbo ẹ̀yà Israẹli, láti kọ́ ilé, kí orúkọ mi kí ó lè wà níbẹ̀, bẹ́ẹ̀ ni èmi kò yan ẹnikẹ́ni láti jẹ́ olórí lórí Israẹli ènìyàn mi.
From the day when I brought up my people out of the land of Egypt, I chose no city of all the tribes of Israel, to build a house that my name should be there; neither did I choose a man to be a leader over my people Israel.
6 Ṣùgbọ́n nísinsin yìí èmi ti yan Jerusalẹmu, kí orúkọ mi le è wà níbẹ̀, èmi sì ti yan Dafidi láti jẹ ọba lórí Israẹli ènìyàn mi.’
But I chose Jerusalem that my name should be there; and I chose David to be over my people Israel.
7 “Baba mi Dafidi ti ní-in lọ́kàn láti kọ́ tẹmpili fún orúkọ Olúwa, àní Ọlọ́run Israẹli.
And it came into the heart of David my father, to build a house for the name of the Lord God of Israel.
8 Ṣùgbọ́n Olúwa sọ fún Dafidi baba mi pé, ‘Nítorí tí ó wà ní ọkàn rẹ láti kọ́ tẹmpili yìí fún orúkọ mi, ìwọ ṣe ohun dáradára láti ní èyí ní ọkàn rẹ̀.
But the Lord said to my father David, Whereas it came into your heart to build a house for my name, you did well that it came into your heart.
9 Ṣùgbọ́n síbẹ̀, ìwọ kọ́ ni yóò kọ́ tẹmpili náà, bí kò ṣe ọmọ rẹ, ẹni tí o jẹ́ ẹran-ara àti ẹ̀jẹ̀ rẹ: òun ni yóò kọ́ tẹmpili fún orúkọ mi.’
Nevertheless you shall not build the house; for your son who shall come forth out of your loins, he shall build the house for my name.
10 “Olúwa sì ti mú ìlérí rẹ̀ ṣẹ. Èmi ti dìde ní ipò Dafidi baba mi, a sì gbé mi ka ìtẹ́ Israẹli, gẹ́gẹ́ bí Olúwa ti ṣe ìlérí, èmi sì ti kọ́ tẹmpili fún orúkọ Olúwa, Ọlọ́run Israẹli.
And the Lord has confirmed this word, which he spoke; and I am raised up in the room of my father David, and I sit upon the throne of Israel as the Lord said, and I have built the house for the name of the Lord God of Israel:
11 Níbẹ̀ ni èmi sì gbé àpótí ẹ̀rí Olúwa sí, nínú èyí ti májẹ̀mú ti Olúwa bá àwọn Israẹli ènìyàn mi dá wà.”
and I have set there the ark in which [is] the covenant of the Lord, which he made with Israel.
12 Nígbà náà ni Solomoni dúró níwájú pẹpẹ Olúwa, ní iwájú gbogbo ìjọ ènìyàn Israẹli, ó sì tẹ́ ọwọ́ rẹ̀ méjèèjì.
And he stood before the altar of the Lord in the presence of all the congregation of Israel, and spread out his hands.
13 Solomoni ṣe àga idẹ kan tí ó jẹ́ ìgbọ̀nwọ́ márùn-ún ní gígùn àti ìgbọ̀nwọ́ márùn-ún fífẹ̀ àti ìgbọ̀nwọ́ mẹ́ta ní gíga, a gbé e sí àárín àgbàlá ti òde. Ó sì dúró ní orí rẹ̀, àti pé ó kúnlẹ̀ lórí eékún rẹ̀ níwájú gbogbo ìjọ ènìyàn Israẹli, ó sì tẹ́ ọwọ́ rẹ̀ méjèèjì sí òkè ọ̀run.
For Solomon [had] made a brazen scaffold, and set it in the midst of the court of the sanctuary; the length of it [was] five cubits, and the breadth of it five cubits, and the height of it three cubits: and he stood upon it, and fell upon his knees before the whole congregation of Israel, and spread abroad his hands to heaven,
14 Ó wí pé: “Olúwa, Ọlọ́run Israẹli, kò sí Ọlọ́run tí ó dàbí rẹ ní ọ̀run àti ní ayé: ìwọ tí o pa májẹ̀mú ìfẹ́ rẹ mọ́ pẹ̀lú àwọn ìránṣẹ́ rẹ tí ń fi tọkàntọkàn wọn rìn ní ọ̀nà rẹ.
and said, Lord God of Israel, there is no God like you in heaven, or on the earth; keeping covenant and mercy with your servants that walk before you with [their] whole heart.
15 Ìwọ tí o pa ìlérí tí o ṣe pẹ̀lú ìránṣẹ́ rẹ Dafidi baba mi mọ́; nítorí ìwọ ti fi ẹnu rẹ ṣe ìlérí àti pé ìwọ ti fi ọwọ́ rẹ mú un ṣẹ; bí ó ti rí lónìí yìí.
Even as you have kept [them] with your servant David my father, as you have spoken to him in words: —you have both spoken with your mouth, and have fulfilled [it] with your hands, as it is this day.
16 “Nísinsin yìí Olúwa, Ọlọ́run Israẹli, pa ìlérí tí ó ti ṣe mọ́ fún ìránṣẹ́ rẹ Dafidi baba mi nígbà tí o wí pé, ‘Ìwọ kò gbọdọ̀ fẹ́ kù láti ní ọkùnrin láti jókòó níwájú mi lórí ìtẹ́ Israẹli, kìkì bí àwọn ọmọ rẹ tí wọ́n bá kíyèsi ara nínú gbogbo ohun tí wọ́n ṣe láti rìn níwájú mi gẹ́gẹ́ bí òfin mi gẹ́gẹ́ bí o sì ti ṣe.’
and now, Lord God of Israel, keep with your servant David my father the things which you spoke to him, saying, There shall not fail you a man before me sitting on the throne of Israel, if only your sons will take heed to their way to walk in my law, as you did walk before me.
17 Nísinsin yìí, Olúwa Ọlọ́run Israẹli, jẹ́ kí ọ̀rọ̀ rẹ tí o ti ṣèlérí fún ìránṣẹ́ rẹ Dafidi kí ó wá sí ìmúṣẹ.
And now, Lord God of Israel, let, I pray you, your word be confirmed, which you have spoken to your servant David.
18 “Ṣùgbọ́n ṣé Ọlọ́run nítòótọ́ yóò máa bá àwọn ènìyàn gbé lórí ilẹ̀ ayé bí? Ọ̀run àti ọ̀run gíga kò le gbà ọ́. Báwo ni ó ṣe kéré tó, ilé Olúwa tí mo ti kọ́!
For will God indeed dwell with men upon the earth? if the heaven and the heaven of heavens will not suffice you, what then is this house which I have built?
19 Síbẹ̀ ṣe àfiyèsí àdúrà ìránṣẹ́ rẹ àti ẹ̀bẹ̀ rẹ̀ fún àánú, Olúwa Ọlọ́run mi, gbọ́ ẹkún àti àdúrà tí ìránṣẹ́ rẹ̀ ń gbà níwájú rẹ.
Yet you shall have respect to the prayer of your servant, and to my petition, O Lord God, so as to listen to the petition and the prayer which your servant prays before you this day:
20 Kí ojú rẹ kí ó lè ṣí sí ilé Olúwa ní ọ̀sán àti lóru, ní ibí yìí tí ìwọ ti wí pé ìwọ yóò fi orúkọ rẹ síbẹ̀. Kí ìwọ kí ó gbọ́ àdúrà tí ìránṣẹ́ rẹ ń gbà lórí ibí yìí.
so that your eyes should be open over this house by day and by night, towards this place, whereon you said your name should be called, so as to hear the prayer which your servant prays towards this house.
21 Gbọ́ ẹ̀bẹ̀ ìránṣẹ́ rẹ àti ti àwọn ènìyàn Israẹli nígbà tí wọ́n bá ń gbàdúrà lórí ibí yìí. Gbọ́ láti ọ̀run, ibùgbé rẹ, nígbà tí ìwọ bá sì gbọ́, dáríjì.
And you shall hear the supplication of your servant, and of your people Israel, whatever prayers they shall make towards this place: and you shall listen in your dwelling-place out of heaven, yes you shall hear, and be merciful.
22 “Nígbà tí ọkùnrin kan bá dẹ́ṣẹ̀ sí ẹnìkejì rẹ̀, tí a sì mú búra, tí ó sì búra níwájú pẹpẹ rẹ nínú ilé yìí,
If a man sin against his neighbour, and he bring an oath upon him so as to make him swear, and he come and swear before the altar in this house;
23 nígbà náà, gbọ́ láti ọ̀run kí o sì dáhùn. Ṣe ìdájọ́ láàrín àwọn ìránṣẹ́ rẹ, san padà fún ẹni tí ó jẹ̀bi nípa mímú padà wá sí orí òun tìkára rẹ̀ ohun tí ó ti ṣe. Ṣe ìdáláre fún olódodo, bẹ́ẹ̀ sì ni, fi fún un gẹ́gẹ́ bí òdodo rẹ̀.
then shall you listen out of heaven, and do, and judge your servants, to recompense the transgressor, and to return his ways upon his head: and to justify the righteous, to recompense him according to his righteousness.
24 “Nígbà tí àwọn ènìyàn rẹ Israẹli bá ní ìjákulẹ̀ níwájú àwọn ọ̀tá nítorí wọ́n ti dẹ́ṣẹ̀ sí ọ àti nígbà tí wọ́n bá sì yípadà, tí wọ́n sì jẹ́wọ́ orúkọ rẹ, tí wọ́n gbàdúrà, tí wọ́n sì bẹ̀bẹ̀ níwájú rẹ nínú ilé Olúwa yìí,
And if your people Israel should be put to the worse before the enemy, if they should sin against you, and [then] turn and confess to your name, and pray and make supplication before you in this house;
25 nígbà náà, ni kí o gbọ́ láti ọ̀run kí o sì dárí ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ àwọn ènìyàn Israẹli jì wọ́n kí o sì mú wọn padà wá sílé tí o ti fi fún wọn àti àwọn baba wọn.
then shall you listen out of heaven and shall be merciful to the sins of your people Israel, and you shall restore them to the land which you gave to them and to their fathers.
26 “Nígbà tí a bá ti ọ̀run, tí kò sì sí òjò nítorí àwọn ènìyàn rẹ ti dẹ́ṣẹ̀ sí ọ, nígbà tí wọ́n bá sì gbàdúrà sí ibí yìí tí wọ́n sì jẹ́wọ́ orúkọ rẹ tí wọ́n sì yípadà kúrò nínú ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ wọn nítorí ìwọ ti pọ́n wọn lójú,
When heaven is restrained, and there is no rain, because they shall have sinned against you, and [when] they shall pray towards this place, and praise your name, and shall turn from their sins, because you shall afflict them;
27 nígbà náà gbọ́ láti ọ̀run kí o sì dárí ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ jì àwọn ìránṣẹ́ rẹ, àwọn ènìyàn Israẹli kọ́ wọn ní ọ̀nà tí ó tọ́ nínú èyí tí wọn ó máa rìn, kí o sì rọ òjò sórí ilẹ̀ tí o ti fi fún àwọn ènìyàn rẹ fún ìní.
then shall you listen from heaven, and you shall be merciful to the sins of your servants, and of your people Israel; for you shall show them the good way in which they shall walk; and you shall send rain upon your land, which you gave to your people for an inheritance.
28 “Nígbà tí ìyàn tàbí àjàkálẹ̀-ààrùn bá wá sí ilẹ̀ náà, ìrẹ̀dànù tàbí ìmúwòdù, eṣú tàbí ẹlẹ́ǹgà, tàbí nígbà tí àwọn ọ̀tá wọn bá yọ wọ́n lẹ́nu nínú ọ̀kan lára àwọn ìlú wọn, ohunkóhun, ìpọ́njú tàbí ààrùn lè wá.
If there should be famine upon the land, if there should be death, a pestilent wind an blight; if there should be locust and caterpiller, and if the enemy should harass them before their cities: in whatever plague and whatever distress [they may be];
29 Nígbà tí àdúrà tàbí ẹ̀bẹ̀ bá sì wá láti ọ̀dọ̀ ẹnikẹ́ni àwọn ènìyàn rẹ Israẹli olúkúlùkù mọ̀ nípa ìpọ́njú rẹ̀ àti ìbànújẹ́, tí ó sì tẹ́ ọwọ́ rẹ̀ méjèèjì sí ìhà ilé Olúwa yìí.
Then whatever prayer and whatever supplication shall be made by any man and all your people Israel, if a man should know his own plague and his own sickness, and should spread forth his hands towards this house;
30 Nígbà náà gbọ́ láti ọ̀run ibùgbé rẹ dáríjì, kí o sì pín fún olúkúlùkù ènìyàn gẹ́gẹ́ bí i gbogbo ohun tí ó ṣe, nígbà tí ìwọ ti mọ ọkàn rẹ̀ (nítorí ìwọ nìkan ni ó mọ ọkàn ènìyàn.)
then shall you hear from heaven, out of your prepared dwelling-place, and shall be merciful, and shall recompense to the man according to his ways, as you shall know his heart [to be]; for you alone know the heart of the children of men:
31 Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni kí wọn kí ó lè bẹ̀rù rẹ kí wọn kí ó sì rìn ní ọ̀nà rẹ ní gbogbo ìgbà tí wọ́n ń gbé nínú ilé tí o ti fi fún àwọn baba wa.
that they may reverence all your ways all the days which they live upon the face of the land, which you gave to our fathers.
32 “Ní ti àwọn àlejò tí wọn kò sí lára àwọn ènìyàn rẹ Israẹli ṣùgbọ́n tí wọ́n wá láti ọ̀nà jíjìn nítorí orúkọ ńlá rẹ àti ọwọ́ agbára rẹ àti nínà apá rẹ, nígbà tí ó bá wá tí ó sì gbàdúrà pẹ̀lú kíkojú si ilé Olúwa yìí.
And every stranger who is not himself of your people Israel, and who shall have come from a distant land because of your great name, and your mighty hand, and your high arm; when they shall come and worship towards this place; —
33 Nígbà náà, gbọ́ láti ọ̀run àní láti ibi ibùgbé rẹ, kí o sì ṣe ohun tí àwọn àlejò béèrè lọ́wọ́ rẹ. Bẹ́ẹ̀ ni kí gbogbo àwọn ènìyàn ayé kí wọn lè mọ orúkọ rẹ kí wọn sì bẹ̀rù rẹ, gẹ́gẹ́ bí Israẹli ènìyàn rẹ ti ṣe, kí wọn kí ó sì lè mọ̀ wí pé ilé yìí tí èmi ti kọ, orúkọ rẹ ni ó ń jẹ́.
then shall you listen out of heaven, out of your prepared dwelling-place, and shall do according to all that the stranger shall call upon you for; that all the nations of the earth may know your name, and that they may fear you, as your people Israel [do], and that they may know that your name is called upon this house which I have built.
34 “Nígbà tí àwọn ènìyàn rẹ bá lọ sójú ogun lórí àwọn ọ̀tá wọn, nígbàkígbà tí o bá rán wọn, tí wọ́n sì gbàdúrà sí ọ si ìhà ìlú yìí tí ìwọ ti yàn àti ilé Olúwa tí èmi ti kọ́ fún orúkọ rẹ.
And if your people shall go forth to war against their enemies by the way by which you shall send them, and shall pray to you towards this city which you have chosen, and [towards] the house which I have built to your name;
35 Nígbà náà gbọ́ àdúrà wọn àti ẹ̀bẹ̀ wọn láti ọ̀run, kí o sì mú ọ̀rọ̀ wọn dúró.
then shall you hear out of heaven their prayer and their supplication, and maintain their cause.
36 “Nígbà tí wọ́n bá sì dẹ́ṣẹ̀ sí ọ—nítorí kò sí ènìyàn kan tí kì í dẹ́ṣẹ̀—bí o bá sì bínú sí wọn tí o bá sì fi wọ́n fún àwọn ọ̀tá, tí wọ́n kó wọn ní ìgbèkùn sí ilẹ̀ tí ó jìnnà réré tàbí nítòsí,
Whereas if they shall sin against you, (for there is no man who will not sin, ) and you shall strike them, and deliver them up before their enemies, and they that take them captive shall carry them away into a land of enemies, to a land far off or near;
37 ṣùgbọ́n, nígbà tí wọ́n bá sì yí ọkàn wọn padà ní ilẹ̀ tí wọ́n ti mú wọn ní ìgbèkùn, tí wọ́n sì ronúpìwàdà tí wọ́n sì bẹ̀bẹ̀ pẹ̀lú rẹ ní ilẹ̀ ìgbèkùn, wọn ó sì wí pé, ‘Àwa ti dẹ́ṣẹ̀, àwa sì ti ṣe ohun tí kò dára, a sì ti ṣe búburú’;
and [if] they shall repent in their land whither they were carried captive, and shall also turn and make supplication to you in their captivity, saying, We have sinned, we have transgressed, we have wrought unrighteously;
38 tí wọn bá sì yípadà sí ọ pẹ̀lú gbogbo ọkàn àti ẹ̀mí ní ilẹ̀ ìgbèkùn wọn níbi tí wọ́n ti mú wọn, tí wọ́n sì gbàdúrà wọn, kojú si ìlú tí ìwọ ti yàn àti lórí ilé Olúwa tí mo ti kọ́ fún orúkọ rẹ;
and [if] they shall turn to you with all their heart and all their soul in the land of them that carried them captives, whither they carried them captives, and shall pray towards their land which you gave to their fathers, and the city which you did choose, and the house which I built to your name: —
39 nígbà náà, láti ọ̀run, ibi ibùgbé rẹ, gbọ́ àdúrà wọn àti ẹ̀bẹ̀ wọn, kí o sì mú ọ̀ràn wọn dúró, kí o sì dárí ẹ̀ṣẹ̀ àwọn ènìyàn jì wọn, tí wọn ti dẹ́ṣẹ̀ sí ọ.
then shall you hear out of heaven, out of your prepared dwelling-place, their prayer and their supplication, and you shall execute justice, and shall be merciful to your people that sin against you.
40 “Nísinsin yìí, Ọlọ́run mi, jẹ́ kí ojú rẹ kí ó ṣí kí o sì tẹ́ etí rẹ sílẹ̀ fún àdúrà sí ibí yìí.
And now, Lord, let, I pray you, your eyes be opened, and your ears be attentive to the petition [made in] this place.
41 “Ǹjẹ́ nísinsin yìí dìde, Olúwa Ọlọ́run mi, sí ibi ìsinmi rẹ,
And now, O Lord God, arise into your resting-place, you, and the ark of your strength: let your priests, O Lord God, clothe themselves with salvation, and your sons rejoice in prosperity.
42 Olúwa Ọlọ́run mi, má ṣe kọ̀ ẹni àmì òróró rẹ.
O Lord God, turn not away the face of your anointed: remember the mercies of your servant David.
