< 1 Samuel 16 >

1 Olúwa sọ fún Samuẹli pé, “Yóò ha ti pẹ́ tó tí ìwọ yóò máa dárò Saulu, nígbà tí ó jẹ́ pé mo ti kọ̀ ọ́ ní ọba lórí Israẹli? Rọ òróró kún inú ìwo rẹ, kí o sì mú ọ̀nà rẹ pọ̀n, Èmi rán ọ sí Jese ará Bẹtilẹhẹmu. Èmi ti yan ọ̀kan lára àwọn ọmọkùnrin rẹ̀ láti jẹ ọba.”
Yahweh said to Samuel, “How long will you mourn for Saul, since I have rejected him from being king over Israel? Fill your horn with oil and go. I will send you to Jesse of Bethlehem, for I have selected for myself a king among his sons.”
2 Ṣùgbọ́n Samuẹli wí pé, “Báwo ni èmi yóò ṣe lọ? Bí Saulu bá gbọ́ nípa rẹ̀, yóò pa mi.” Olúwa wí pé, “Mú abo ẹgbọrọ màlúù kan pẹ̀lú rẹ, kí o sì wí pé, ‘Èmi wá láti wá rú ẹbọ sí Olúwa.’
Samuel said, “How can I go? If Saul hears of it, he will kill me.” Yahweh said, “Take a heifer with you and say, 'I have come to sacrifice to Yahweh.'
3 Pe Jese wá sí ibi ìrúbọ náà, Èmi yóò sì fi ohun tí ìwọ yóò ṣe hàn ọ́. Ìwọ yóò fi òróró yàn fún mi, ẹni tí èmi bá fihàn ọ́.”
Call Jesse to the sacrifice, and I will show you what you will do. You will anoint for me the one whom I tell you.”
4 Samuẹli ṣe ohun tí Olúwa sọ. Nígbà tí ó dé Bẹtilẹhẹmu, àyà gbogbo àgbàgbà ìlú já, nígbà tí wọ́n pàdé rẹ̀. Wọ́n béèrè pé, “Ṣé àlàáfíà ní ìwọ bá wá?”
Samuel did as Yahweh said and went to Bethlehem. The elders of the city were trembling as they came to meet him and said, “Are you coming in peace?”
He said, “In peace; I have come to sacrifice to Yahweh. Prepare to set yourselves apart and come with me to the sacrifice.” Then he set apart Jesse and his sons and invited them to the sacrifice.
6 Nígbà tí wọ́n dé, Samuẹli rí Eliabu, ó rò nínú ara rẹ̀ pé lóòótọ́ ẹni òróró Olúwa dúró níbí níwájú Olúwa.
When they came, he looked at Eliab and said to himself that Yahweh's anointed was certainly standing before him.
7 Ṣùgbọ́n Olúwa sọ fún Samuẹli pé, “Má ṣe wo ti ìrísí rẹ̀ tàbí ti gíga rẹ̀, nítorí èmi ti kọ̀ ọ́ sílẹ̀. Olúwa kì í wo ohun tí ènìyàn máa ń wò. Ènìyàn máa ń wo òde ara ṣùgbọ́n Olúwa máa ń wo ọkàn.”
But Yahweh said to Samuel, “Do not look at his outward appearance, or on the height of his stature; because I have rejected him. For Yahweh does not see as man sees; man looks on the outward appearance, but Yahweh looks on the heart.”
8 Nígbà náà ni Jese pe Abinadabu, ó sì jẹ́ kí ó rìn kọjá ní iwájú Samuẹli. Ṣùgbọ́n Samuẹli wí pé, “Olúwa kò yan ẹni yìí.”
Then Jesse called Abinadab and made him pass before Samuel. Then Samuel said, “Neither has Yahweh chosen this one.”
9 Jese sì jẹ́ kí Ṣamma rìn kọjá ní iwájú Samuẹli, ṣùgbọ́n Samuẹli wí pé, “Olúwa kò yan ẹni yìí náà.”
Jesse then made Shammah pass by, but Samuel said, “Neither has Yahweh chosen this one.”
10 Jese jẹ́ kí àwọn ọmọ rẹ̀ méje rìn kọjá ní iwájú Samuẹli ṣùgbọ́n Samuẹli sọ fún un pé, “Olúwa kò yan àwọn wọ̀nyí.”
Jesse made seven of his sons pass before Samuel. Then Samuel said to Jesse, “Yahweh has not chosen any of these.”
11 Nígbà náà ni ó béèrè lọ́wọ́ Jese pé, “Ṣé èyí ni gbogbo àwọn ọmọ rẹ?” Jese dáhùn pé, “Ó ku àbíkẹ́yìn wọn, ó ń tọ́jú agbo àgùntàn.” Samuẹli sì wí pé, “Rán ìránṣẹ́ lọ pè é wá; àwa kò ní jókòó títí òun yóò fi dé.”
Then Samuel said to Jesse, “Are all of your sons here?” He replied, “There remains yet the youngest, but he is tending the sheep.” Samuel said to Jesse, “Send and get him; for we will not sit down until he comes here.”
12 Ó sì ránṣẹ́ sí i, wọ́n sì mú un wọlé wá, ó jẹ́ ẹni tó mọ́ra, àwọ̀ ara rẹ̀ dùn ún wò, ó jẹ́ arẹwà gidigidi. Nígbà náà ni Olúwa wí pé, “Dìde kí o sì fi òróró yàn án, òun ni ẹni náà.”
Jesse sent and brought him in. Now this son was ruddy and had beautiful eyes and a handsome appearance. Yahweh said, “Arise, anoint him; for he is the one.”
13 Nígbà náà ni Samuẹli mú ìwo òróró, ó sì ta á sí i ní orí ní iwájú àwọn ẹ̀gbọ́n rẹ̀, láti ọjọ́ náà lọ, Ẹ̀mí Mímọ́ Olúwa wá sí orí Dafidi nínú agbára. Samuẹli sì lọ sí Rama.
Then Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the middle of his brothers. The Spirit of Yahweh rushed on David from that day forward. Then Samuel rose up and went to Ramah.
14 Nísinsin yìí, ẹ̀mí Olúwa ti kúrò lára Saulu, ẹ̀mí búburú láti ọ̀dọ̀ Olúwa sì ń yọ ọ́ lẹ́nu.
Now the Spirit of Yahweh left Saul, and a harmful spirit from Yahweh troubled him instead.
15 Àwọn ìránṣẹ́ Saulu sì wí fún un pé, “Wò ó, ẹ̀mí búburú láti ọ̀dọ̀ Ọlọ́run wá ń yọ ọ́ lẹ́nu.
Saul's servants said to him, “Look, a harmful spirit from God troubles you.
16 Jẹ́ kí olúwa wa pàṣẹ fún àwọn ìránṣẹ́ rẹ̀ tí ó wà níhìn-ín láti wa ẹnìkan tí ó lè fi dùùrù kọrin. Yóò sì ṣe é nígbà tí ẹ̀mí búburú láti ọ̀dọ̀ Ọlọ́run bá bà lé ọ, ìwọ yóò sì sàn.”
Let our master now command your servants who are before you to look for a man who is a skillful player on the harp. Then when the harmful spirit from God is on you, he will play it and you will be well.”
17 Nígbà náà ni Saulu wí fún àwọn ìránṣẹ́ rẹ̀ pé, “Ẹ wá ẹnìkan tí ó lè kọrin dáradára kí ẹ sì mú u wá fún mi.”
Saul said to his servants, “Find me a man that can play well and bring him to me.”
18 Ọ̀kan nínú ìránṣẹ́ náà dáhùn pé, “Èmi ti ri ọ̀kan nínú àwọn ọmọ Jese ti Bẹtilẹhẹmu tí ó mọ orin kọ, ó jẹ́ alágbára àti ológun. Ó ní ọgbọ́n ọ̀rọ̀ òun sì dára ní wíwò. Olúwa sì wà pẹ̀lú u rẹ̀.”
Then one of the young men answered, and said, “I have seen a son of Jesse the Bethlehemite, who is skillful in playing, a strong, courageous man, a man of war, one prudent in speech, a handsome man; and Yahweh is with him.”
19 Saulu sì rán oníṣẹ́ sí Jese wí pé, “Rán Dafidi ọmọ rẹ sí mi, ẹni tí ó ń ṣọ́ àgùntàn.”
So Saul sent messengers to Jesse, and said, “Send me your son David, who is with the sheep.”
20 Jese sì mú kẹ́tẹ́kẹ́tẹ́ ti a di ẹrù lé àti ìgò ọtí wáìnì àti ọmọ ewúrẹ́; ó sì rán wọn nípa ọwọ́ Dafidi ọmọ rẹ̀ sí Saulu.
Jesse took a donkey loaded with bread, a container of wine, and a young goat, and sent them with his son David to Saul.
21 Dafidi sì tọ Saulu lọ, ó sì dúró níwájú rẹ̀, òun sì fẹ́ ẹ gidigidi, Dafidi sì wá di ọ̀kan nínú àwọn tí ń ru ìhámọ́ra rẹ̀.
Then David came to Saul and entered his service. Saul loved him greatly, and he became his armor bearer.
22 Nígbà náà ni Saulu ránṣẹ́ sí Jese pé, “Jẹ́ kí Dafidi dúró níwájú mi, nítorí tí ó wù mí.”
Saul sent to Jesse, saying, “Let David stand before me, for he has found favor in my eyes.”
23 Ó sì ṣe, nígbà tí ẹ̀mí búburú láti ọ̀dọ̀ Ọlọ́run wá bá dé sí Saulu, Dafidi a sì fi ọwọ́ rẹ̀ kọrin lára dùùrù: a sì san fún Saulu, ara rẹ̀ a sì dá; ẹ̀mí búburú náà a sì fi sílẹ̀.
Whenever the harmful spirit from God was upon Saul, David took the harp and played it. So Saul would be refreshed and well, and the harmful spirit would depart from him.
