Dân Số 16
1 Vả, Cô-rê, con trai của Dít-sê-ha, cháu của Kê-hát, chít của Lê-vi, giục theo mình Đa-than và A-bi-ram, con trai của Ê-li-áp, cùng với Oân, con trai của Phê-lết, cháu Ru-bên.
One day Korah, who was the son of Izhar and a descendant of Levi’s son Kohath, conspired with Dathan and Abiram, who were the sons of Eliab, and On, who was the son of Peleth. Those three men were from the tribe of Reuben.
2 Các người nầy với hai trăm năm mươi người trong dân Y-sơ-ra-ên, vốn là quan tướng của hội, nghị viên của hội đồng, có danh giá, đều hiệp nhau dấy nghịch cùng Môi-se và A-rôn,
Korah and those other three men incited 250 other people who were leaders among the Israeli people to join them in rebelling against Moses/me.
3 mà rằng: Thôi đủ rồi! vì cả hội chúng đều là thánh, và Đức Giê-hô-va ngự ở trong; vậy sao các ngươi tự cao trên hội chúng của Đức Giê-hô-va?
They came together to criticize Aaron and Moses/me. They said to them/us, “You two are using more [authority] than you should! Yahweh has set apart all of us Israeli people, and he is with/helping all of us. So why do you act as though you are more important than the rest of us people who belong to Yahweh [RHQ]?”
4 Môi-se nghe điều đó, bèn sấp mặt xuống đất,
When Moses/I heard what they were saying, he/I prostrated himself/myself on the ground.
5 nói cùng Cô-rê và hết thảy kẻ hiệp với người mà rằng: Sáng mai, Đức Giê-hô-va sẽ tỏ cho biết ai thuộc về Ngài và ai là thánh; Ngài sẽ khiến người đó lại gần Ngài, tức khiến người nào mà Ngài đã chọn lấy đến gần Ngài.
Then he/I said to Korah and those [Israeli leaders] who were with Korah, “Tomorrow morning Yahweh will show us whom he has chosen to be his [priest], and who is holy and allowed to come near to him. Yahweh will permit [only] those whom he chooses to come into his presence.
6 Hỡi Cô-rê, hãy làm điều nầy: Ngươi và hết thảy kẻ hiệp với ngươi hãy cầm lư hương;
So Korah, tomorrow you and those who are with you must prepare your pans to burn incense.
7 sáng mai hãy để lửa ở trong và bỏ hương ở trên trước mặt Đức Giê-hô-va. Người nào mà Đức Giê-hô-va sẽ chọn, ấy là người thánh. Hỡi con cháu Lê-vi, thôi đủ rồi!
Then you must light a fire in them and burn the incense in the presence of Yahweh. Then we will see which one of us Yahweh has chosen to be his holy servant. It is you men who are descendants of Levi who are trying to use more [authority] than you should!”
8 Môi-se nói cùng Cô-rê rằng: Hỡi con cháu Lê-vi, bây giờ hãy nghe.
Then Moses/I spoke again to Korah. He/I said, “You men who are descendants of Levi, listen to me!
9 Về phần các ngươi, Đức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên đã biệt các ngươi riêng ra với hội chúng Y-sơ-ra-ên, và khiến các ngươi đến gần Ngài đặng làm công việc trong đền tạm của Đức Giê-hô-va, đặng chực hầu việc trước mặt hội chúng, việc ấy há là nhỏ mọn sao?
The God of us Israelis has chosen all of you to be close to him in order that you can work for him at his Sacred Tent and serve the people. (Is that unimportant/Does that mean nothing) to you [RHQ]?
10 Ngài biểu ngươi, hết thảy anh em ngươi với con cháu Lê-vi đến gần Ngài, các ngươi lại còn kiếm chức tế lễ nữa sao?
Yahweh has brought you, [Korah], and your fellow descendants of Levi, near to himself. Now are you demanding to become priests also?
11 Vì vậy, ngươi và toàn bè đảng của ngươi đều hiệp lại nghịch cùng Đức Giê-hô-va! Vì A-rôn là ai mà các ngươi lằm bằm cùng người?
It is really Yahweh against whom you and your fellow descendants of Levi are rebelling. Aaron is not the one about whom you are really complaining [RHQ].”
12 Môi-se sai đòi Đa-than và A-bi-ram, con trai Ê-li-áp; nhưng hai người đáp rằng: Chúng tôi không đi lên đâu.
Then Moses/I summoned Dathan and Abiram, but [they refused to come]. They [sent a message] saying, “We will not come to you!
13 Há là điều nhỏ mọn mà ngươi đã đem chúng ta ra khỏi xứ đượm sữa và mật, đặng làm cho chúng ta chết trong đồng vắng, mà ngươi lại còn muốn lấn lướt trên chúng ta nữa sao?
You brought us out of Egypt, which was a very fertile [IDM] land, in order to cause us to die here in this desert. That was bad. But now you are also trying to boss us [RHQ], and that is worse.
14 Quả thật, ngươi không có dẫn chúng ta đến trong một xứ đượm sữa và mật đâu, ngươi không cho chúng ta đồng ruộng hay là vườn nho làm sản nghiệp đâu! Ngươi toan khoét mắt của dân nầy ư? Chúng ta không đi lên đâu.
You have not given us a new land to live in, a land that has good fields and vineyards. You are only trying to [RHQ] trick these people. So we will not come to you.”
15 Môi-se nổi giận lắm, thưa cùng Đức Giê-hô-va rằng: Xin đừng kể đến của lễ chay chúng nó nữa; tôi không có bắt nơi chúng nó một con lừa nào, và tôi cũng không có làm hại một ai trong bọn chúng nó.
Then Moses/I became very angry. He/I said to Yahweh, “Do not accept the grain offerings that they have brought. I have not taken anything from them, not even one donkey, and I have never done anything wrong to them, [so they have no reason to complain about me].”
16 Đoạn, Môi-se nói cùng Cô-rê rằng: Ngày mai ngươi và toàn bè đảng ngươi với A-rôn hãy ra mắt Đức Giê-hô-va.
Then Moses/I said to Korah, “You and all those who are with you must come here tomorrow and stand in front of Yahweh. Aaron will also be here.
17 Mỗi người hãy lấy lư hương mình bỏ hương ở trong, rồi mỗi người dâng lư hương mình trước mặt Đức Giê-hô-va, tức là hai trăm năm mươi cái lư hương. Ngươi và A-rôn, mỗi người cũng phải có lư hương mình.
You and all the 250 men who are with you must each take a pan in which to burn incense, and put incense in it, to [burn it to be] an offering to Yahweh. Aaron will do the same thing.”
18 Vậy, mỗi người lấy lư hương mình để lửa vào, bỏ hương trên, rồi đứng tại cửa hội mạc luôn với Môi-se và A-rôn.
So [the next day] each of those men got a pan to burn incense. They put in it incense and hot coals to light it, and then they all stood at the entrance of the Sacred Tent with Aaron and Moses/me.
19 Cô-rê hiệp cả hội chúng nghịch lại Môi-se và A-rôn tại cửa hội mạc; sự vinh quang của Đức Giê-hô-va hiện ra cùng cả hội chúng.
Then Korah summoned all the people who supported him and who were against Moses/me, and they also gathered at the entrance of the tent. Then the glory of Yahweh appeared to all of them/us,
20 Đoạn, Đức Giê-hô-va phán cùng Môi-se và A-rôn rằng:
and Yahweh said to Aaron and Moses/me,
21 Hãy tách khỏi giữa hội chúng nầy, thì ta sẽ tiêu diệt nó trong một lát.
“Get away from all these people, in order that I can get rid of them immediately!”
22 Hai người bèn sấp mặt xuống mà rằng: Oâi Đức Chúa Trời, là Chúa của thần linh mọi xác thịt! chỉ có một người phạm tội mà Chúa lại nổi giận cùng cả hội chúng sao?
But Aaron and Moses/I prostrated themselves/ourselves on the ground. We pleaded with Yahweh, saying, “God, you are the one who caused all these people to live [MTY]. Only one of these men has sinned; so, (is it right for you to be angry with all the people?/it is not right for you to be angry with all the people!) [RHQ]”
23 Đức Giê-hô-va phán cùng Môi-se rằng:
Yahweh said to Moses/me,
24 Hãy nói cùng hội chúng mà rằng: Hãy dan ra khỏi chung quanh chỗ ở của Cô-rê, Đa-than, và A-bi-ram.
“[Okay], but tell all the people to get away from the tents of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.”
25 Môi-se đứng dậy, đi lại phía Đa-than và A-bi-ram; các trưởng lão Y-sơ-ra-ên đi theo người.
So Moses/I stood up and went to the tents of Dathan and Abiram. The Israeli leaders followed him/me.
26 Người nói cùng hội chúng rằng: Bây giờ, hãy dan ra khỏi trại của các người hung ác nầy, và chớ đụng đến vật chi thuộc về họ, e các ngươi sẽ chết vì những tội của họ chăng.
He/I told the people, “Get away from the tents of these wicked men, and do not touch anything that belongs to them! If you touch anything, you will die because of their sins!”
27 Vậy, dân sự dan ra khỏi tứ phía chỗ ở của Cô-rê, Đa-than, và A-bi-ram. Đa-than và A-bi-ram ra đứng tại cửa trại với vợ, con trai và con nít mình.
So all the people moved away from the tents of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram. Dathan and Abiram came out of their tents with their wives and children and babies, and stood at the entrances of their tents.
28 Môi-se bèn nói rằng: Nhờ điều nầy các ngươi sẽ biết rằng Đức Giê-hô-va có sai ta đặng làm các điều nầy, và ta chẳng làm sự chi tự ta.
Then Moses/I said, “I was not the one who decided to do all these things that I have done. It was Yahweh who [chose me and] sent me to do them. And now he will prove that to you.
29 Nếu các kẻ đó chết như mọi người khác chết, nếu họ đồng chịu số phận chung như mọi người, thì Đức Giê-hô-va không có sai ta.
If these men die in a normal way, then it will be clear that Yahweh did not choose me.
30 Nhưng nếu Đức Giê-hô-va làm một sự thật mới, nếu đất hả miệng ra nuốt họ và mọi món chi thuộc về họ, nếu họ còn đang sống mà xuống âm phủ, thì các ngươi sẽ biết rằng những người nầy có khinh bỉ Đức Giê-hô-va. (Sheol h7585)
But if Yahweh does something that has never happened before, if he causes the ground [that is under their feet] to open up and swallow these men [and their families] and all their possessions, and they fall into the opening and are buried while they are still alive, then you will know that these men have insulted Yahweh.” (Sheol h7585)
31 Vừa khi Môi-se nói dứt các lời nầy, đất ngay dưới chân họ bèn nứt ra;
As soon as Moses/I said this, the ground split open beneath those men.
32 hả miệng nuốt họ, gia quyến và hết thảy phe Cô-rê cùng tài sản của chúng nó.
It swallowed them and their families and all those who were standing there with Korah and all of their possessions.
33 Các người đó còn đang sống và mọi vật chi thuộc về họ đều xuống âm phủ; đất lấp lại và chúng nó bị diệt khỏi hội chúng. (Sheol h7585)
They fell into the opening in the ground while they were still alive, and all their possessions fell into the opening also. They disappeared, and the ground closed back up again. (Sheol h7585)
34 Cả Y-sơ-ra-ên ở xung quanh nghe tiếng họ la, đều chạy trốn, vì nói rằng: Chúng ta hãy coi chừng, kẻo đất nuốt chúng ta chăng!
They screamed as they fell, and all the people who were standing nearby heard them scream. The people [were terrified and] cried out as they ran away, saying, “[We do not want] the ground to swallow us also!”
35 Rồi một ngọn lửa từ Đức Giê-hô-va lòe ra thiêu hóa hai trăm năm mươi người đã dâng hương.
And then a fire from Yahweh came down [from the sky] and burned up the 250 men who were burning the incense!
36 Đoạn, Đức Giê-hô-va phán cùng Môi-se rằng:
Then Yahweh said to Moses/me,
37 Hãy nói với Ê-lê-a-sa, con trai thầy tế lễ A-rôn, biểu lượm các lư hương ra khỏi chỗ lửa cháy, và đổ lửa của các lư hương nơi xa, vì lư hương đã nên thánh.
“Tell Aaron’s son Eleazar to take the pans that had incense in them away from the fire and to scatter the burning coals. The pans that those men [were carrying] are (holy/dedicated to me) [because they burned incense to me in them].
38 Còn những lư hương của các người đã phạm tội cùng sanh mạng mình, người ta phải lấy làm thành những tấm dát mỏng để bọc bàn thờ. Bởi các lư hương đã dâng trước mặt Đức Giê-hô-va đã thành thánh; những tấm dát đó sẽ dùng làm một dấu cho dân Y-sơ-ra-ên.
Those men have now died because of their sin; so [Eleazar must] take their pans and hammer the metal to make it become very thin. He must make a covering for the altar with that metal. Those pans were used to offer incense to me, so they are (holy/dedicated to me). [What happened to] those pans will now warn the Israeli people.”
39 Vậy, Ê-lê-a-sa, thầy tế lễ, lấy những lư hương bằng đồng của các người bị thiêu đã dâng lên, và người ta làm thành những tấm dát mỏng để bọc bàn thờ.
So Eleazar the priest collected the 250 pans for burning incense that had been used by the men who died in the fire. He hammered the pans very thin to make a covering for the altar, as Yahweh told Moses/me should be done.
40 Aáy là một kỷ niệm cho dân Y-sơ-ra-ên, để người nào ngoại dòng A-rôn chớ đến gần đặng xông hương trước mặt Đức Giê-hô-va, kẻo e đồng số phận cùng Cô-rê và bè đảng người, theo lời Đức Giê-hô-va đã cậy Môi-se truyền dạy.
That warned the Israeli people that only those who were descendants of Aaron were permitted to burn incense for an offering to Yahweh. If anyone else did that, the same thing that happened to Korah and those who were with him would happen to them.
41 Ngày mai, cả hội dân Y-sơ-ra-ên lằm bằm cùng Môi-se và A-rôn mà rằng: Hai người đã làm chết dân của Đức Giê-hô-va.
But the following morning, all the Israeli people started to complain against Aaron and Moses/me, saying “You have killed many people who belonged to Yahweh!”
42 Khi hội chúng đang hiệp nhau nghịch cùng Môi-se và A-rôn, thì ngó về hướng hội mạc, xảy thấy trụ mây bao phủ hội mạc, và sự vinh quang của Đức Giê-hô-va hiện ra.
When all the people gathered together to protest about what Aaron and Moses/I had done, they looked at the Sacred Tent and saw that the sacred cloud had covered it, and the glory of Yahweh had appeared.
43 Môi-se và A-rôn đến đứng trước hội mạc,
Aaron and Moses/I went and stood in front of the Sacred Tent.
44 Đức Giê-hô-va phán cùng Môi-se rằng:
Then Yahweh said to Moses/me,
45 Hãy dan ra khỏi giữa hội chúng nầy, thì ta sẽ tiêu diệt nó trong một lát. Nhưng hai người sấp mặt xuống đất,
“Get away from these people, in order that I can get rid of them immediately [without injuring you two]!” But Aaron and Moses/I prostrated themselves/ourselves on the ground [and prayed].
46 rồi Môi-se nói cùng A-rôn rằng: Hãy cầm lấy lư hương để lửa từ trên bàn thờ vào, bỏ hương lên trên, mau mau đi đến hội chúng và làm lễ chuộc tội cho họ; vì sự thạnh nộ của Đức Giê-hô-va đã nổi lên, và tai vạ đã phát khởi.
Moses/I said to Aaron, “Quickly take another pan and put in it some burning/hot coals from the altar. Put incense in the pan, and carry it out among the people to atone for the sins of the people. Yahweh is very angry with them, and [I know that] a (severe plague/bad sickness) has already started among them.”
47 A-rôn bèn cầm lấy lư hương y như Môi-se đã biểu, chạy đến giữa hội chúng; kìa, tai vạ đã phát khởi giữa dân sự. A-rôn bèn bỏ hương vào, và làm lễ chuộc tội cho dân sự.
So Aaron did what Moses/I told him. He took the burning incense out among the people. The plague had already started to strike the people, but Aaron continued to burn the incense so that God would forgive them for the sins they had committed.
48 Người đứng giữa kẻ chết và kẻ sống, thì tai vạ bèn ngừng lại.
He stood between the people who had already died and those who were still alive, and then the plague stopped.
49 Có mười bốn ngàn bảy trăm người chết vì tai vạ nầy, trừ ra những kẻ đã bị chết vì cớ Cô-rê.
But 14,700 people had already died from that plague/sickness, in addition to the people who died with Korah.
50 Đoạn, A-rôn trở về cùng Môi-se tại cửa hội mạc, rồi tai vạ ngừng lại.
Then after the plague had ended, Aaron and Moses/I returned to the entrance of the Sacred Tent.
