I Các Vua 14
1 Trong lúc đó, A-bi-gia, con trai của Giê-rô-bô-am, đau.
At that time, fell sick, Abijah son of Jeroboam.
2 Giê-rô-bô-am nói với vợ mình rằng: Ta xin ngươi hãy chổi dậy, giả dạng khác đi, cho người ta không biết người là vợ ta. Ngươi hãy đi đến Si-lô, tại đó có tiên tri A-hi-gia, là đấng đã nói trước về ta rằng ta sẽ làm vua của dân sự này.
Then said Jeroboam to his wife—Arise, I pray thee, and feign thyself another, that it be not known, that, thou, art the wife of Jeroboam, —and thou shalt go thy way to Shiloh, lo! there, is Ahijah the prophet, who promised I should be king over this people;
3 Ngươi phải lấy đem theo mười ổ bánh, những bánh ngọt, và một bình mật ong, rồi hãy đi đến người; người sẽ nói cho ngươi đều phải xảy đến cho con trẻ.
and thou shall take with thee ten loaves, and cracknels, and a bottle of honey, and shalt go unto him, —he, will tell thee what shall befall the young man.
4 Vợ Giê-rô-bô-am làm theo vậy, đứng dậy đi đến Si-lô, và tới nhà A-hi-gia. Vả, A-hi-gia không thấy được, bởi vì tuổi già làm cho mắt người mù lòa.
And the wife of Jeroboam, did so, and arose, and went to Shiloh, and entered the house of Ahijah, —now, Ahijah, could not see, for his eyes were fixed, by reason of his old age.
5 Nhưng Đức Giê-hô-va phán với người rằng: Kìa, vợ của Giê-rô-bô-am đến cầu hỏi ngươi về con trai nó đang đau. Ngươi sẽ đáp lời cùng nó thể này, thể này. Khi đến, nàng sẽ giả dạng làm một người khác.
But, Yahweh, had said unto Ahijah—Lo! the wife of Jeroboam, coming to enquire something of thee, concerning her son, for he is sick, thus and so, shalt thou speak unto her, —though, when she cometh in, she feign to be a stranger-woman.
6 Khi nàng bước qua ngạch cửa cái, A-hi-gia nghe tiếng bước người, thì nói rằng: Hỡi vợ vua Giê-rô-bô-am, hãy vào; cớ sao ngươi giả làm người khác? Ta chịu sai báo cho ngươi một tin dữ: Hãy đi tâu với Giê-rô-bô-am:
So it came to pass, when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet, as she entered the doorway, that he said—Come in, thou wife of Jeroboam, —wherefore, is it that thou art feigning to be a stranger-woman, seeing that, I, am sent unto thee, with something hard to bear?
7 Giê-hô-va Đức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên phán như vầy: Ta đã cất ngươi lên từ giữa dân sự, lập ngươi làm vua trên dân Y-sơ-ra-ên ta.
Go, say to Jeroboam—Thus, saith Yahweh, God of Israel, Forasmuch as I exalted thee out of the midst of the people, —and gave thee to be leader over my people Israel;
8 Ta đã đoạt lấy nước khỏi nhà Đa-vít mà trao cho ngươi; nhưng ngươi không bắt chước Đa-vít, kẻ tôi tớ ta, là người gìn giữ các điều răn ta, hết lòng theo ta, chỉ làm điều thiện tại trước mặt ta.
and rent the kingdom away from the house of David, and gave it to thee, —and yet thou hast not been like my servant David, who kept my commandments, and who followed me, with all his heart, to do only that which was right in mine eyes;
9 Ngươi đã làm điều ác hơn các kẻ tiên bối ngươi, đi lập cho mình những thần khác và hình tượng đúc đặng chọc giận ta, và đã chối bỏ ta.
but hast made wicked thy doings beyond any who were before thee, —and hast gone and made thee ether gods, even molten images, to provoke me to anger, and hast cast, me, behind thy back,
10 Bởi cớ đó, ta sẽ giáng tai họa trên nhà Giê-rô-bô-am, các nam đinh của nó, bất luận kẻ nô lệ hay là người tự do, ta sẽ diệt hết khỏi trong Y-sơ-ra-ên, và quét sạch nhà nó, như người ta quét phân, cho đến chẳng còn sót chi hết.
therefore, behold me! bringing misfortune against the house of Jeroboam, and I will cut off the meanest pertaining to Jeroboam, whether shut up or left at large, in Israel, —and will consume after the house of Jeroboam, as one consumeth dung, till it be all gone:
11 Phàm người của nhà Giê-rô-bô-am chết tại trong thành, đều sẽ bị chó ăn nuốt, còn người nào chết ngoài đồng, thì sẽ bị chim trời cắn rỉa ăn đi; vì Đức Giê-hô-va đã phán vậy.
Him that dieth of Jeroboam in the city, shall, the dogs, eat, and, him that dieth in the field, shall, the birds of heaven, eat, —For, Yahweh, hath spoken.
12 Thế thì, hãy đứng dậy trở về nhà ngươi; vừa khi ngươi đặt chân vào thành, thì con ngươi sẽ chết.
Thou, therefore, arise, go to thine own house, —as thy feet are entering the city, the young man shall die.
13 Cả Y-sơ-ra-ên sẽ than khóc và chôn nó; trong nhà Giê-rô-bô-am chỉ một mình nó sẽ được chôn nơi mồ mả, vì trong gia quyến Giê-rô-bô-am chỉ thấy nơi nó có chút lòng tốt đối cùng Giê-hô-va Đức Chúa Trời của Y-sơ-ra-ên.
Then shall all Israel lament for him, and bury him, for, this one, pertaining to Jeroboam, shall reach a burying-place, —because there hath been found in him something good toward Yahweh, God of Israel, in the house of Jeroboam.
14 Trong ngày đó, Đức Giê-hô-va sẽ dấy lên một vua trên Y-sơ-ra-ên, người sẽ diệt hết nhà Giê-rô-bô-am. Mà sao? Việc đã xảy đến rồi.
Therefore will Yahweh raise up for himself a king over Israel, who will cut off the house of Jeroboam, this day, but why, even now?
15 Đức Giê-hô-va sẽ hành hại Y-sơ-ra-ên, như một cây sậy bị nước đưa đi, truất Y-sơ-ra-ên khỏi xứ tốt đẹp này mà Ngài đã ban cho tổ phụ họ, và làm tản lạc họ phía bên kia sông cái, bởi vì họ đã lấy hình tượng chọc giận Đức Giê-hô-va.
Therefore will Yahweh smite Israel, as a reed shaketh in water, and will root out Israel, from off this goodly soil, which he gave unto their fathers, and will scatter them beyond the River (Euphrates), —because they have made their Sacred Stems, provoking Yahweh to anger:
16 Vì cớ tội Giê-rô-bô-am đã phạm, tức tội khiến cho dân Y-sơ-ra-ên can phạm nên Đức Giê-hô-va sẽ phó Y-sơ-ra-ên vào tay thù nghịch.
That he may deliver up Israel, —on account of the sin of Jeroboam, which he committed, and which he caused, Israel, to commit.
17 Vợ của Giê-rô-bô-am đứng dậy đi và đến Tiệt-sa. Nàng vừa đặt chân trên ngạch cửa nhà, thì đứa trẻ đã chết.
Then arose the wife of Jeroboam, and went her way and entered Tirzah, —as, she, was coming into the entrance hall, the young man died.
18 Người ta chôn nó, và cả Y-sơ-ra-ên đều than khóc nó, theo như lời của Đức Giê-hô-va đã cậy miệng tôi tớ Ngài, là A-hi-gia, đấng tiên tri, mà phán.
And, when they buried him, all Israel lamented him, —according to the word of Yahweh, which he spake through his servant Ahijah the prophet.
19 Mọi công việc khác của Giê-rô-bô-am làm, tức là sự tranh chiến và cuộc trị vì của người, đều đã chép trong sách sử ký của các vua Y-sơ-ra-ên.
Now, the rest of the story of Jeroboam, how he warred, and how he reigned, behold them! written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Israel.
20 Giê-rô-bô-am trị vì hai mươi hai năm; đoạn, người an giấc cùng các tổ phụ mình, và Na-đáp, con trai người, kế vị người. Đời Rô-bô-am trị vì
And, the days which Jeroboam reigned, were twenty-two years, —and he slept with his fathers, and, Nadab his son, reigned, in his stead.
21 Rô-bô-am, con trai của Sa-lô-môn, cai trị Giu-đa. Khi lên ngôi, người đã được bốn mươi mốt tuổi; người trị vì mười bảy năm tại Giê-ru-sa-lem, là thành Đức Giê-hô-va đã chọn trong các chi phái Y-sơ-ra-ên, đặng đặt danh Ngài ngự tại đó. Mẹ người tên là Na-a-ma, người Am-môn.
And, Rehoboam, son of Solomon, reigned in Judah, —forty-one years old, was Rehoboam when he began to reign, and seventeen years, reigned he in Jerusalem, the city which Yahweh had chosen to put his Name there, out of all the tribes of Israel, and, his mother’s name, was Naamah, the Ammonitess.
22 Dân Giu-đa làm điều ác tại trước mặt Đức Giê-hô-va; vì cớ tội phạm, chúng nó chọc cho Đức Giê-hô-va phân bì hơn là các tổ phụ mình đã làm.
And Judah did the thing that was wicked in the eyes of Yahweh, —and provoked him to jealousy, above all that their fathers had done, with their sins which they committed.
23 Vì những người Giu-đa cũng xây cất cho mình những nơi cao, trụ thờ và tượng Aùt-tạt-tê tại trên các gò nổng cao và dưới những cây rậm.
And, they also, built for themselves high places and pillars, and Sacred Stems, —upon every high hill, and under every green tree.
24 Cũng có những bợm vĩ gian ở trong xứ. Chúng bắt chước làm theo những sự gớm ghiếc của các dân tộc mà Đức Giê-hô-va đã đuổi khỏi trước mặt dân Y-sơ-ra-ên.
Moreover also, there were, male devotees, in the land, —they did according to all the abominable practices of the nations, which Yahweh dispossessed from before the sons of Israel.
25 Năm thứ năm đời Rô-bô-am trị vì, Si-sắc, vua Ê-díp-tô, đi lên đánh Giê-ru-sa-lem,
And it came to pass, in the fifth year of King Rehoboam, that Shishak king of Egypt, came up against Jerusalem;
26 lấy các châu báu của đền Đức Giê-hô-va và của cung vua; người cũng đoạt lấy hết thảy những khiên bằng vàng mà Sa-lô-môn đã làm.
and took away the treasures of the house of Yahweh, and the treasures of the house of the king, yea, the whole, took he away, —and took away all the bucklers of gold, which, Solomon, had made.
27 Vua Rô-bô-am bèn truyền làm những khiên bằng đồng đặng thế cho các khiên ấy, giao cho các quan làm đầu thị vệ canh cửa cung vua.
So King Rehoboam made, in their stead, bucklers of bronze, —and committed them unto the hand of the captains of the runners, who kept guard at the entrance of the house of the king.
28 Hễ vua đi vào đền Đức Giê-hô-va, có những thị vệ cầm các khiên ấy; đoạn, họ đem cất nó lại trong phòng thị vệ.
And so it was, whensoever the king went into the house of Yahweh, the runners bare them, and then brought them back into the chamber of the runners.
29 Các công việc khác của Rô-bô-am, và mọi việc người đã làm, đều chép trong sách sử ký của các vua Giu-đa.
Now, the rest of the story of Rehoboam, and all that he did, are, they, not written in the book of the Chronicles of the Kings of Judah?
30 Vả, Rô-bô-am và Giê-rô-bô-am đánh giặc nhau luôn luôn.
And there was, war, between Rehoboam and Jeroboam, continually.
31 Rô-bô-am an giấc với tổ phụ người, và được chôn với họ tại trong thành Đa-vít. Mẹ người tên là Na-a-ma, người Am-môn, A-bi-giam, con trai người, kế vị người.
So then Rehoboam slept with his fathers, and was buried with his fathers in the city of David, and, the name of his mother, was Naamah the Ammonitess, —and, Abijah his son, reigned, in his stead.
