I Sa-mu-ên 19
1 Sau-lơ bảo Giô-na-than và thuộc hạ mình tìm cách giết Đa-vít. Nhưng vì quý mến Đa-vít,
And Saul spake to Jonathan his son, and to all his servants, that they should slay David. But Jonathan, Saul’s son, delighted much in David.
2 nên Giô-na-than tiết lộ kế hoạch của cha cho bạn. Ông cảnh báo Đa-vít: “Sáng mai, anh phải ra đồng trốn vào một nơi kín đáo.
And Jonathan told David, saying, Saul my father seeketh to slay thee: now therefore, I pray thee, take heed to thyself in the morning, and abide in a secret place, and hide thyself:
3 Tôi sẽ đi với cha tôi ra gần nơi anh nấp và sẽ thưa chuyện về anh. Biết thêm điều gì tôi sẽ cho anh hay.”
and I will go out and stand beside my father in the field where thou art, and I will commune with my father of thee; and if I see aught, I will tell thee.
4 Như đã định, Giô-na-than thưa chuyện với cha và bênh vực Đa-vít: “Xin vua đừng phạm tội giết Đa-vít, đầy tớ mình. Anh ấy không có tội gì cả, mà còn giúp ích cho cha rất nhiều.
And Jonathan spake good of David unto Saul his father, and said unto him, Let not the king sin against his servant, against David; because he hath not sinned against thee, and because his works have been to thee-ward very good:
5 Anh ấy đã liều mạng sống mình mà giết tên Phi-li-tin kia, và nhờ vậy Chúa Hằng Hữu đã cho Ít-ra-ên chiến thắng. Lúc ấy cha vui mừng lắm, phải không? Tại sao cha lại giết một người vô tội như Đa-vít? Thật vô lý quá!”
for he put his life in his hand, and smote the Philistine, and Jehovah wrought a great victory for all Israel: thou sawest it, and didst rejoice; wherefore then wilt thou sin against innocent blood, to slay David without a cause?
6 Sau-lơ nghe lời Giô-na-than và thề rằng: “Thật như Chúa Hằng Hữu hằng sống, Đa-vít sẽ không bị giết.”
And Saul hearkened unto the voice of Jonathan: and Saul sware, As Jehovah liveth, he shall not be put to death.
7 Giô-na-than gọi Đa-vít, kể lại cho bạn cuộc đàm đạo với cha. Sau đó, Giô-na-than đem Đa-vít đến gặp Sau-lơ, và Đa-vít tiếp tục phục vụ Sau-lơ như trước.
And Jonathan called David, and Jonathan showed him all those things. And Jonathan brought David to Saul, and he was in his presence, as beforetime.
8 Chiến tranh lại nổi lên. Đa-vít cầm quân kháng địch, và giết vô số người Phi-li-tin, quân địch bỏ chạy tán loạn.
And there was war again: and David went out, and fought with the Philistines, and slew them with a great slaughter; and they fled before him.
9 Nhưng Chúa Hằng Hữu sai ác thần nhập vào Sau-lơ khi vua đang ngồi trong nhà, tay cầm giáo, còn Đa-vít đang khảy đàn.
And an evil spirit from Jehovah was upon Saul, as he sat in his house with his spear in his hand; and David was playing with his hand.
10 Sau-lơ phóng giáo, định ghim Đa-vít vào tường nhưng Đa-vít né khỏi, mũi giáo cắm trên tường. Đa-vít bỏ chạy, thoát thân trong đêm tối.
And Saul sought to smite David even to the wall with the spear; but he slipped away out of Saul’s presence, and he smote the spear into the wall: and David fled, and escaped that night.
11 Sau-lơ sai người đến canh giữ nhà Đa-vít, chờ đến sáng sẽ giết. Nhưng Mi-canh bảo chồng: “Nếu không trốn thoát đêm nay, sáng mai anh sẽ bị giết.”
And Saul sent messengers unto David’s house, to watch him, and to slay him in the morning: and Michal, David’s wife, told him, saying, If thou save not thy life to-night, to-morrow thou wilt be slain.
12 Bà dòng chồng xuống qua cửa sổ để Đa-vít chạy trốn.
So Michal let David down through the window: and he went, and fled, and escaped.
13 Mi-canh lấy một cái tượng đặt nằm trên giường, tấn một chiếc gối bông dưới đầu tượng, rồi lấy chăn đắp lại.
And Michal took the teraphim, and laid it in the bed, and put a pillow of goats’ [hair] at the head thereof, and covered it with the clothes.
14 Khi những người của Sau-lơ vào tìm Đa-vít, Mi-canh nói với họ rằng chồng mình đang bệnh, không thể ra khỏi giường.
And when Saul sent messengers to take David, she said, He is sick.
15 Sau-lơ lại sai người đi bắt Đa-vít lần thứ hai. Ông dặn họ: “Khiêng hắn trên giường về đây cho ta giết hắn.”
And Saul sent the messengers to see David, saying, Bring him up to me in the bed, that I may slay him.
16 Nhưng khi họ đến để đem Đa-vít đi, họ phát hiện trên giường chỉ là một hình tượng, đầu phủ một tấm lông dê.
And when the messengers came in, behold, the teraphim was in the bed, with the pillow of goats’ [hair] at the head thereof.
17 Sau-lơ hỏi Mi-canh: “Sao con dám lừa cha, để cho kẻ thù của cha trốn mất?” Mi-canh thưa: “Anh ấy dọa rằng nếu không để anh ấy đi thoát, anh ấy sẽ giết con.”
And Saul said unto Michal, Why hast thou deceived me thus, and let mine enemy go, so that he is escaped? And Michal answered Saul, He said unto me, Let me go; why should I kill thee?
18 Vậy, Đa-vít trốn thoát và chạy đến Ra-ma tìm Sa-mu-ên, kể cho ông nghe mọi việc Sau-lơ làm. Rồi hai người tới tạm trú tại Na-giốt.
Now David fled, and escaped, and came to Samuel to Ramah, and told him all that Saul had done to him. And he and Samuel went and dwelt in Naioth.
19 Khi được tin Đa-vít đang ở Na-giốt thuộc Ra-ma,
And it was told Saul, saying, Behold, David is at Naioth in Ramah.
20 Sau-lơ sai người đi bắt Đa-vít. Những người này đến nơi, thấy Sa-mu-ên và một đoàn tiên tri đang nói tiên tri. Thần của Đức Chúa Trời giáng trên họ, họ cũng nói tiên tri.
And Saul sent messengers to take David: and when they saw the company of the prophets prophesying, and Samuel standing as head over them, the Spirit of God came upon the messengers of Saul, and they also prophesied.
21 Tin này được báo lên Sau-lơ. Vua sai một toán người khác đến, những người này cũng nói tiên tri. Sau-lơ lại sai một toán thứ ba đến, họ cũng nói tiên tri nốt.
And when it was told Saul, he sent other messengers, and they also prophesied. And Saul sent messengers again the third time, and they also prophesied.
22 Lần này Sau-lơ đích thân đi Ra-ma. Đến một cái giếng lớn tại Sê-cư, vua hỏi: “Sa-mu-ên và Đa-vít ở đâu?” Một người đáp: “Họ ở Na-giốt thuộc Ra-ma.”
Then went he also to Ramah, and came to the great well that is in Secu: and he asked and said, Where are Samuel and David? And one said, Behold, they are at Naioth in Ramah.
23 Vua đi đến Na-giốt, thuộc Ra-ma; Thần của Đức Chúa Trời cũng giáng trên Sau-lơ, vua vừa đi vừa nói tiên tri cho đến khi tới Na-giốt!
And he went thither to Naioth in Ramah: and the Spirit of God came upon him also, and he went on, and prophesied, until he came to Naioth in Ramah.
24 Hôm ấy Sau-lơ cởi áo và nằm trần dưới đất như vậy trọn ngày đêm. Sau-lơ nói tiên tri trước mặt Sa-mu-ên cũng như những người khác. Vì thế trong dân gian có câu: “Sau-lơ cũng là một tiên tri sao?”
And he also stripped off his clothes, and he also prophesied before Samuel, and lay down naked all that day and all that night. Wherefore they say, Is Saul also among the prophets?
