I Các Vua 4

1 Vua Sa-lô-môn trị vì trên toàn cõi Ít-ra-ên.

And king Solomon was king over all Israel.

2 Triều thần Sa-lô-môn gồm có: A-xa-ria, con Xa-đốc, làm thầy tế lễ.

And these were the princes whom he had: Azariah the son of Zadok, the priest;

3 Ê-li-Hô-rếp và A-hi-gia, con Si-sa, làm tổng thư ký. Giê-hô-sa-phát, con A-hi-lút, giữ chức ngự sử.

Elihoreph and Ahijah, the sons of Shisha, scribes; Jehoshaphat the son of Ahilud, the recorder;

4 Bê-na-gia, con Giê-hô-gia-đa, làm tướng chỉ huy quân đội. Xa-đốc và A-bia-tha làm thầy tế lễ.

and Benaiah the son of Jehoiada was over the host; and Zadok and Abiathar were priests;

5 A-xa-ria, con Na-than, làm thống đốc. Xa-bút, con Na-than, là thầy tế lễ và quân sư của vua.

and Azariah the son of Nathan was over the officers; and Zabud the son of Nathan was chief minister, [and] the king’s friend;

6 A-hi-sa là quản đốc hoàng cung. A-đô-ni-ram, con Áp-đa chỉ huy đoàn lao công.

and Ahishar was over the household; and Adoniram the son of Abda was over the men subject to taskwork.

7 Sa-lô-môn còn chỉ định mười hai tổng đốc cai trị toàn cõi Ít-ra-ên. Trách nhiệm của mỗi trấn phải tuần tự cung cấp một tháng lương thực cho vua và hoàng gia mỗi tháng.

And Solomon had twelve officers over all Israel, who provided victuals for the king and his household: each man had to make provision for a month in the year.

8 Đây là tên của mười hai tổng đốc: Bên-hu-rơ cai trị miền đồi núi Ép-ra-im.

And these are their names: Ben-hur, in the hill-country of Ephraim;

9 Bên-đê-ke cai trị các miền Đa-kát, Sa-an-bim, Bết-sê-mết, và Ê-lôn Bết-ha-nan.

Ben-deker, in Makaz, and in Shaalbim, and Beth-shemesh, and Elon-beth-hanan;

10 Bên-hê-sết cai trị miền A-ru-bốt, kể cả Sô-cô và đất Hê-phe.

Ben-hesed, in Arubboth (to him [pertained] Socoh, and all the land of Hepher);

11 Bên A-bi-na-đáp (có vợ là Ta-phát, con gái Sa-lô-môn) cai trị đồi núi Đô-rơ.

Ben-abinadab, in all the height of Dor (he had Taphath the daughter of Solomon to wife);

12 Ba-a-na con A-hi-lút cai trị miền Tha-a-nác, và Mơ-ghít-đô, cả xứ Bết-sê-an ở gần Xát-than, dưới Gít-rê-ên, và cả miền từ Bết-sê-an đến A-bên Mê-hô-la, cho đến bên kia Giốc-mê-am.

Baana the son of Ahilud, in Taanach and Megiddo, and all Beth-shean which is beside Zarethan, beneath Jezreel, from Beth-shean to Abel-meholah, as far as beyond Jokmeam;

13 Bên-ghê-be cai trị miền Ra-mốt Ga-la-át kể cả Thôn Giai-rơ (Giai-rơ là con Ma-na-se) thuộc Ga-la-át, miền Ạt-gốp thuộc Ba-san và sáu mươi thành lớn có tường thành và then cửa đồng kiên cố.

Ben-geber, in Ramoth-gilead (to him [pertained] the towns of Jair the son of Manasseh, which are in Gilead; [even] to him [pertained] the region of Argob, which is in Bashan, threescore great cities with walls and brazen bars);

14 A-hi-na-đáp, con Y-đô, cai trị miền Ma-ha-na-im.

Ahinadab the son of Iddo, in Mahanaim;

15 A-hi-mát cai trị miền Nép-ta-li (có vợ là Bách-mát, con gái Sa-lô-môn) cai trị miền Náp-ta-li.

Ahimaaz, in Naphtali (he also took Basemath the daughter of Solomon to wife);

16 Ba-a-na, con Hu-sai, cai trị miền A-se và A-lốt.

Baana the son of Hushai, in Asher and Bealoth;

17 Giê-hô-sa-phát, con Pha-ru-a, cai trị miền Y-sa-ca.

Jehoshaphat the son of Paruah, in Issachar;

18 Si-mê-i, con Ê-la, cai trị miền Bên-gia-min.

Shimei the son of Ela, in Benjamin;

19 Ghê-be, con U-ri, cai trị miền Ga-la-át gồm cả đất trước kia thuộc quyền của Si-hôn, vua A-mô-rít và Óc, vua Ba-san. Cả khu vực này cũng chỉ có một tổng đốc trong lãnh thổ Giu-đa.

Geber the son of Uri, in the land of Gilead, the country of Sihon king of the Amorites and of Og king of Bashan; and [he was] the only officer that was in the land.

20 Người Ít-ra-ên và Giu-đa đông như cát biển, ăn uống no đủ và sung sướng.

Judah and Israel were many as the sand which is by the sea in multitude, eating and drinking and making merry.

21 Vương quốc của Sa-lô-môn chạy từ Sông Ơ-phơ-rát đến đất của người Phi-li-tin, xuống phía nam cho đến biên giới Ai Cập. Các nước chư hầu phải tiến cống và phục dịch Sa-lô-môn suốt đời vua trị vì.

And Solomon ruled over all the kingdoms from the River unto the land of the Philistines, and unto the border of Egypt: they brought tribute, and served Solomon all the days of his life.

22 Mỗi ngày hoàng gia cần số lương thực gồm 150 giạ bột mịn, 300 giạ bột thường,

And Solomon’s provision for one day was thirty measures of fine flour, and threescore measures of meal,

23 10 con bò béo tốt, 20 con bò nuôi ngoài đồng cỏ, 100 con chiên, chưa kể nai, hoàng dương, mang, và gà vịt béo tốt.

ten fat oxen, and twenty oxen out of the pastures, and a hundred sheep, besides harts, and gazelles, and roebucks, and fatted fowl.

24 Lãnh thổ của Sa-lô-môn lan rộng đến tận phía tây Ơ-phơ-rát, từ Típ-sắc tới Ga-xa; vì vua giữ hòa khí với các nước lân bang,

For he had dominion over all [the region] on this side the River, from Tiphsah even to Gaza, over all the kings on this side the River: and he had peace on all sides round about him.

25 nên suốt đời Sa-lô-môn, cả Giu-đa và Ít-ra-ên hưởng thái bình; từ Đan cho đến Bê-e-sê-ba, người người sống an vui bên vườn nho, cây vả.

And Judah and Israel dwelt safely, every man under his vine and under his fig-tree, from Dan even to Beer-sheba, all the days of Solomon.

26 Sa-lô-môn có 4.000 ngựa kéo xe với 12.000 kỵ sĩ.

And Solomon had forty thousand stalls of horses for his chariots, and twelve thousand horsemen.

27 Mỗi tháng, các tổng đốc thay phiên cung cấp thực phẩm cho Vua Sa-lô-môn và hoàng gia không thiếu sót gì cả.

And those officers provided victuals for king Solomon, and for all that came unto king Solomon’s table, every man in his month; they let nothing be lacking.

28 Họ cũng đem lúa mạch và rơm đến nơi được chỉ định để nuôi ngựa và lạc đà.

Barley also and straw for the horses and swift steeds brought they unto the place where [the officers] were, every man according to his charge.

29 Đức Chúa Trời cho Sa-lô-môn sự khôn ngoan, hiểu biết sâu xa, và một kiến thức uyên bác vô kể như cát bờ biển.

And God gave Solomon wisdom and understanding exceeding much, and largeness of heart, even as the sand that is on the sea-shore.

30 Sa-lô-môn khôn ngoan hơn cả những nhà thông thái đông phương, kể cả Ai Cập.

And Solomon’s wisdom excelled the wisdom of all the children of the east, and all the wisdom of Egypt.

31 Ông khôn hơn mọi người, hơn cả Ê-than người Ết-ra, Hê-man, Canh-côn, và Đạt-đa (các con của Ma-hôn). Danh tiếng vua đồn sang cả các nước chung quanh.

For he was wiser than all men; than Ethan the Ezrahite, and Heman, and Calcol, and Darda, the sons of Mahol: and his fame was in all the nations round about.

32 Vua sáng tác 3.000 châm ngôn và 1.005 bài thơ.

And he spake three thousand proverbs; and his songs were a thousand and five.

33 Vua cũng viết khảo luận về cây cối, từ cây bá hương ở Li-ban cho đến cây cỏ bài hương mọc trên tường; luận về các loài thú vật, chim chóc, các loài bò sát, và các loài cá.

And he spake of trees, from the cedar that is in Lebanon even unto the hyssop that springeth out of the wall; he spake also of beasts, and of birds, and of creeping things, and of fishes.

34 Sa-lô-môn nổi tiếng khôn ngoan đến nỗi vua của các nước khác gửi sứ giả đến xin thọ giáo.

And there came of all peoples to hear the wisdom of Solomon, from all kings of the earth, who had heard of his wisdom.
